Yes, it is true that an 'Aztec codex' housed in the Vatican depicts the death of the last of the Quinametzin Giants, in the highlands of ancient Mexico, being dragged by a group of natives.

According to Nahua tradition, the Quinametzin (giants) were the inhabitants of a previous solar cycle, and to whom the construction of Teotihuacan is sometimes attributed.
