Jorian Jenks (from the book 'Spring Comes Again')It's significant that "tolerance" is most loudly preached by those with little to tolerate. All too often "tolerance" spouted by those charged with the duty of government is just a cover-up for shirking of responsibilities. Tolerance all too often means that an entrenched group can not only obstruct government, but inflict great hardship on the rest of the community and even harm national security. The need today is for less tolerance, not more.
Tolerance and intolerance are quite a lot like the relationship between freedom and responsibility.
It's good to be less tolerant but only if the intolerance is rooted in fully individuated faith. Any other kind is bound to be problematic, potentially, even, globally tyrannical.
