Just to let you know I had the misfortune to break my femur on December 15th and apparently smashed both trochanters. Am recovering well after a Dynamic Hip Screw and some excruciating pain, but feel I have turned a corner for the better today. Not quite walking but with help from physiotherapist should be ‘running with Pema” in my mind if not in body.

I had a slight altercation with a dog!

    Just an aside.

One has to be so careful with the words we use so carelessly. We forget they are actually SPELLS.

I look after my husband ,,,,, he is 90 and has early onset dementia …… and the other day I said to my sister “I really could do with a break”

Obviously the universe heard and that is exactly what I got!

Happy New Year and be careful what you say!

Dear Carolyn! I'm so, so sorry that happened, and just before Christmas, too. But your post to us showed your exemplary great wisdom and tremendous good humour, and for 2026 I so very much hope that all will be healed quickly and well.

Yes, words can be spells!! And you also wrote:

Purely because you have such a great sense of humour, I thought this might make you smile. It's a very short video clip that's been on the internet for 17 years (so it's not AI or faked!), and which you may possibly already have seen:

The good news is that she wasn't hurt. I'd always wondered if the poor woman broke anything! But one day I found a YouTube comment from someone who was a personal friend of the woman with the dog, and reported that (amazingly!) she was actually quite okay after the incident.

Dear Carolyn, may 2026 bring you rapid healing, even more wisdom, and even more humour!

I just saw your post and am sending my highest regard for your body. It is so resilient and capable of healing. I wish you to find every avenue to get back to an even better ability to move and to be given support with your husband's care. Much love, Maggie

I would like to thank Bill and Maggie for your words of encouragement and to share a magical moment that happened today during a healing session.

My friend Robert has been visiting me for the past four days to give me healing.
Today as he put his hands, one on my knee and the other on my leg I distinctly felt a third hand placed firmly on the top of my leg, all very strange, yet when I mentioned this he said that it had been known to occur before when he has offered healing.
I am truly blessed 🙏🙏🙏 and managing to walk, painfully, with the aid of a Zimmer frame! Onwards and upwards♥️

While recuperating I have taken the opportunity to watch the storytelling videos I recorded with Sam and must admit they gave me cause to reflect on my times with Margo, Mary and Robin and the wisdom accrued from those years, for which I am so thankful.
It has been a privilege to share them on this forum.

I heard today from Joe, the physiotherapist who has been working on my rehabilitation, that I am almost ready for going home, possibly next Wednesday! This means putting as much effort as I am able in strengthening my thigh muscles and core, exercising at “the ballet bar” and stairs! All is going very well, I am happy to say.

Thank you Bill for Avalon, the storyteller is arising once more! ♥️to♥️

Ditto this!!! ......Carolyn, I could listen to your stories forever and be just so contentedly happy. I just revisited your YouTube and am setting all of your uploads into a playlist I can listen to at night before falling off. Such interesting remembrances (or what seem to be this) flood into me when listening to you speak. I trust you will be well as can be come Wednesday!

Since my transference from hospital late on Christmas Eve to Springfield Nursing Home for rehabilitation I have been treated with the utmost kindness, care and compassion by everyone. This home apparently caters for 50 residents but has 17 beds retained for NHS patients and I am one of those who qualified to spend my recuperation here.

During this time my room became my sacred space and the staff commented on how different the atmosphere was in here to the rest of the place, some taking time to come and sit and ask why this should be so. Moments when we shared the communion of my life’s mystical experiences that have led me to such deep spiritual understanding, wisdom and joy. Even in adversity opportunities have arisen to share the magic, and the realisation that people are so hungry for the missing truths we find on this forum.

    Inspiration gave me these words.

    “SPRINGFIELD”

    Waiting, waiting, waiting —
Wondering what this day will bring.
Is my heart open enough as change enters my realm?
Is my mind ready for more complexities, more people, more suffering?
Why do I ask? Why do I wonder?

    The Christ awaits my loyalty—
To accept, to care, to love —
To transform the suffering of others
With a smile, a quiet word, a gentle touch.

Love in action is the healer of all ills
Forgiveness offers healing to the lonely
Friendship gives strength to the weak
A hug shares my heart with yours
Whoever you are, wherever you be,
For I am you, and you are me.

Thank you Carolyn for sharing your experience. I love how your room became your sacred space and others could feel and enjoy your energy. What a beautiful poem. Sometimes it's difficult when we are faced with pain and the unexpecteď, but you have turned it into a positive with your loving heart

Casey. Rather than returning to my tiny cottage I have the opportunity to stay with my daughter Kate for a week. She is a Head Teacher of 2 junior schools and it will be half term for a week from Saturday and as she has a much larger place the family decided it would be better for me to spend time with her before actually face going back to the cottage with all that is entailed with caring for my husband, and attempting to climb the narrow stairs!
All being well I leave here on Saturday

This sounds wonderful, Carolyn, thank you for sharing your new course home. Stairs can increasingly be a bother as we age, can't they? I wonder if it would be possible to put in some kind of stair lift. It is so good to have family, and hear they are gathering to assist. I will be here keeping an eye on all your updates. Sending all my love.
