Trump dismisses negative polling on Iran attack
The president said he doesn’t care about public opinion surveys as he defended the new war in the Middle East

US President Donald Trump has dismissed polls indicating that a majority of Americans disapprove of his decision to attack Iran.

A CNN poll suggests that 60% of Americans do not support the initial US-Israeli strikes on Iran on Saturday, while a Reuters/Ipsos poll indicates that only one in four Americans approves of the attack.

“I think that the polling is very good, but I don’t care about polling. I have to do the right thing. I have to do the right thing. This should have been done a long time ago,” Trump told the New York Post in an interview published on Monday.

Look, whether polling is low or not, I think the polling is probably fine. But it’s not a question of polling. You cannot let Iran, who’s a nation that has been run by crazy people, have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said, claiming that “a real poll” would show that Americans support his actions.

The president has argued that the strikes, dubbed Operation Epic Fury, were necessary to dismantle Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs. He also called on ordinary Iranians to topple their government.

Most Democrats and some Republicans have condemned the strikes as dangerous and unjustified. Top House Democrat Hakeem Jeffries accused Trump of launching “another endless war in the Middle East.”

Thomas Massie, a Republican congressman from Kentucky, said the war contradicts Trump’s “America First” campaign slogan.

US troops told Trump’s attack on Iran is ‘signal fire for Armageddon’
A US military religious freedom advocacy group has received over 200 complaints about Christian fundamentalist speeches by commanding officers

Multiple commanders across all branches of the US military have offered a fundamentalist Christian explanation for the attack on Iran, describing President Donald Trump as the harbinger of the Second Coming and the conflict itself as a “signal fire” for Armageddon, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) has reported.

The MRFF, a US non-profit promoting the separation of church and state, as well as freedom of conscience within the military, said on Tuesday that it had received more than 200 complaints from active members of the US military over extremist Christian speeches delivered by commanding officers since the start of the US-Israeli attack on Iran.

One of the complaints was lodged by a non-commissioned officer (NCO) with a unit in Ready-Support status, which can be deployed into the Iran combat zone at any time. The commander of the unit “urged us to tell our troops that this was ‘all part of God’s divine plan,’ and he specifically referenced numerous citations out of the Book of Revelation referring to Armageddon and the imminent return of Jesus Christ,” the NCO wrote.

“He said that ‘President Trump has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth.’ He had a big grin on his face when he said all of this, which made his message seem even more crazy,” he noted.

The MRFF founder and president, Mikey Weinstein, a US Air Force veteran and legal counsel under the Reagan administration, said that most of those who reached the group have reported “unrestricted euphoria of their commanders and command chains” over the purportedly “biblically-sanctioned” war on Iran.

“Any military members seeking to take advantage of their subordinates by advancing their blood-soaked, Christian nationalist wet dreams upon the flames of this latest non-Congressionally sanctioned attack against Iran should be swiftly, aggressively, and visibly prosecuted,” Weinstein said in a statement.

The MRFF has long sounded the alarm over the rapidly growing Christian nationalist sentiment among the US military top brass. (my emphasis) The advocacy has repeatedly called out US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth over his openly religious activities, including participation in Bible study events and hosting hardline Christian nationalist preachers at the Pentagon.

My guess is that both Vance and Gabbard want the 'top' job, and to get it, they have to be there in the epicentre when Trump falls. If they speak against him, they will be expelled from court, but at the same time they cannot take centre stage in supporting him anymore. Perhaps I am wrong, but it is a typical 'game' that is played in politics ... instead of toppling the mad king, you stay near him. You need to survive the toppling, not be expelled by him, and be accepted as a rational choice when the king falls.

Maybe J D Vance's and Tulsi Gabbard's understanding of the role that Iran is playing in creating the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East has changed.

Certainly my take on this has changed over time.

Currently I lean toward Tom Luongo's present take:

The globalists, headquartered in the City of London for the last few centuries, are (and have been since petroleum was discovered in Iran and Saudi Arabia over a century ago) up to their usual.

They are creating chaos and conflict between (and fund both sides) powerful players on the world "game board", so as to continue to control the board and extract power and wealth from both "sides",

• be that the Allies versus the Axis nations of World War I and II,
• or the Communists versus the West especially from the late 1940's through the 1990's,
• or several "hot spots" on the world conflict map in recent decades.

When two violent gangs have been set upon each other, as with Israel vs Iran now, then the leaders of both gangs (and more importantly, albeit more dangerously, the powers in the shadows that set both sides up) have to be taken down. This is a dangerous and brutal game. Despite one's best efforts, some innocents will die. Better that than we all, but for a few powerful evil families, end up enslaved, crippled or dead.

IMO there is no one narrative that is 'the truth' of this escalating conflict nor that explains every aspect of it. It is multi-dimensional. It is also very human to 'pick a side' and decide who is the enemy and who is evil in all of this. Decades of brainwashing, especially through Hollywood and now series and movies being put out by Netflix, are trying to control the narrative, and hundreds of commentators on social media are vying for attention.

Destroying Israel, or at least inflicting so much damage that it ceases to be a threat to that region, will not be a magic resolution to the conflict, but has become a necessity. The reason why the Israeli stock market is strengthening while all others are taking a beating is because the Israeli welfare state is the centre of digital global control and spying, as well as military systems of defence and offence? The assets of this empire do not have to be located in Israel physically, and do not have to be financially owned by Israelis. Grok is an asset of the Israeli global empire ... And, that is one of the reasons that Israel is going to extremes to hide the damage being inflicted by Iran ... and rich stupid people are still believing the fiction and buying stock in weapons and systems sold by a welfare state and that are failing under the onslaught from a country that was supposed to be crippled by decades of sanctions. Iran is not the one-dimensional villain that most Westerners believe it to be. Like any other sovereign country, it should be left alone to evolve or transform as it wishes and into what it wishes to be. Westerners do not know how to respect the sovereignty of others. That leads us to another aspect of this war ... the defeat of the Western colonial mindset. This war is being waged across the globe, but media want you to look at Iran and Israel and pick a side.
