Personal favourite since its release in 2019: seven years on and I stil haven't watched anything which has come close:

    Bacarau

    A couple of reviews:

    Quote 8/10
    A wild ride
Perhaps the most recent entry of weird western genre, this is a wild ride form start to finish. imagine mixing Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns with science fiction, horror and disturbing scenes, psychedelic drugs, Udo kier as a former nazi with his squad of savage american-eoropean villains and cultural themes of a local brazillian village and the result is Bacurau.

Written and directed by Kleber Mendonca, an acclaimed brazillian filmmaker, Bacurau is a roller-coaster of a film. It manages somehow to be both 1. reminiscent of Jodorowsky's surrealists westerns and 2. a very modern social commentary film about foreign invasion and colonialism. You may or may not like this film, but you will surely appreciate it's accomplishments.
    Quote 8/10
    Wow
Bacurau embraces so many strong topics: the endemic violence in Brazil, the gun culture and god complex of the US, social gap, political corruption, historical resistance of Nordeste (Brazil's Northeast region) and the "complexo de vira-lata" (inferiority complex) of the people by their own country. These are all packed in a mystery/thriller/western entertaining film set in the Sertão. It's already a classic and an important addition to Brazilian contemporary cinema.

"Hard Sun" I just stumbled upon a BBC/HULU collaboration, a series entitled "Hard Sun" from 2018, which is currently playing on HULU in the US.

It only ran for one season of 6 episodes, and didn't get very good reviews, but the subject matter is of interest because the premise upon which the series is based concerns an extinction event caused by the Sun, due to happen in 5 years in the series' timeline which is more or less present day in reality.
(For other Avalonians in particular who follow the "Geomagnetic Reversals and Ice Ages" it may also be of interest.)

I think the reason for the series' lack of distinction is that it was presented primarily as a crime drama, focusing on characters who become dysfunctional or violent (one serial killer in particular) when they learn about the extinction event, which was being kept secret by the government but was leaked to the press.
In the series, the actual extinction event itself was so downplayed that I think it was wasted as the topic around which the plot revolved.
The "Hard Sun" data was discredited and labeled as "misinformed conspiracy theory", but the aftermath of the leak had to be dealt with by the 2 main characters, in the police force, and that is what served as the main focus.
Though in general the series helps to explain why, in reality, making that information public and legitimizing it would probably result in public panic and chaos, the treatment of the extinction event information itself was so poorly done that it's no surprise the series wasn't renewed.
It's a shame that opportunity was wasted, but perhaps there will be another, better attempt in time.
From the Wikipedia article at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_Sun:

" Hard Sun is a pre-apocalyptic British crime drama television series, created and written by Neil Cross, starring Agyness Deyn and Jim Sturgess as the principal characters, DI Elaine Renko and DCI Charlie Hicks. The series is a BBC co-production with the American streaming service Hulu.[1][2]

The series contains six episodes. It premiered on BBC One on 6 January 2018, with all six episodes subsequently available on the same day via BBC iPlayer. The series premiered on Hulu in the United States on 7 March 2018.[3][4] The series has also been acquired by the Seven Network in Australia,[5] ZDF in Germany[6] and SVT in Sweden.[7] The series was released on DVD and Blu-ray on 19 February 2018.[8] The show was inspired by the David Bowie song "Five Years".[9]

Writer Neil Cross has since expressed his wish to continue the series beyond its first run, claiming he has sketched out a potential five-year story arc.[10] It was cancelled after one season.[11]

    Premise
Hard Sun is a pre-apocalyptic crime drama set in contemporary London. The protagonists are two mismatched police officers, Charlie Hicks and Elaine Renko, who stumble upon proof that a mysterious cosmic event will destroy the earth in five years, a fact the government is trying to keep secret to avoid complete anarchy. The duo is pursued by MI5 operatives who are trying to silence them for good.[12]

    Critical reception
Reviews for the first season were mixed. On the review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, the first season holds a 50% approval rating with an average rating of 6.46 out of 10, based on 30 reviews. The website's critical consensus reads, "Hard Sun's heady mix of narrative and visual flourishes buckle under a surfeit of clichés that ultimately weigh it down and leave the show a muddled mess."[13] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the season a score of 46 out of 100 based on 9 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews
    ".[14] "

It does cause the question to arise as to whether it's:
...better for some people not to know the end is near
...better for others to know because they will feel a need to prepare
...better for still others to know because they intuit something is coming and are better able to accept that, once they know just what it is.

Thanks for posting this Onawah but my advice after sitting through 6 episodes is dont bother -Unless you enjoy extreme violence and fairly unlikeable characters. While it seems to be a sci-fi series about a mass extinction event this is extremely peripheral to what is essentially a police thriller

...But I wasn't recommending the series as good entertainment, just pointing out that it could be of interest to those who are aware of the prophetic accuracy of the main premise, the micronova.
Pardon my repeating myself, but the main premise of the series being that there is a micronova about to occur on the Sun, which is actually quite certainly going to occur in reality sometime in the 2040s.
...Although that kind of data has been consistently suppressed by the Controllers.
Yet in spite of that, a lot of misinformation and obfuscation has been showing up in the mainstream media about the solar cycles, the geomagnetic pole reversal and the likely failure of the electric grid.
(Perhaps to gradually ease the public into becoming familiar with those subjects, inasmuch as the real data continues to unavoidably leak out. )
So even though that series was created in 2018, it may begin to get more public attention now, perhaps even resulting in more interest in and demand for the genuine data.
Especially being that since 2018 there has been a lot more credible data compiled, which can be seen on the thread "Geomagnetic Reversals and Ice Ages" and in particular on the playlist of the youtube channel SpaceWeatherNews.

    "Lie to me"
3 season Fox series currently airing on HULU, Youtube
    3/26/26

(This is another series that Avalonians might find of interest, since it involves developing the kind of discernment that enables a person to see if someone is telling the truth or not, by identifying facial expression and body language.
It also has some very funny moments when photos of well known politicians and other public figures who are clearly telling lies or experiencing shame, embarrassment, disgust, etc. are flashed on the screen as demonstrations of the particular emotion the plot is currently focusing on.

I watch series like this which provide some relief from the current news (which is almost always very concerning) but without being purely escapist, since the subject matter does contain important elements that generally interest truth seekers.
They are, if not particularly well done or especially entertaining, at least compelling and even encouraging in that they focus on subjects which should be more in the public eye. )
    More details:
    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1235099/
"The world's leading deception researcher, Dr. Cal Lightman, studies facial expression, body language and tone of voice to determine when a person is lying and why, which helps law enforcement and government agencies uncover the truth."
