With respect, I will say that in between making observations, speculating, and passing judgement on who was involved and what happened in Tumbler Ridge, BC, any donations that could be made to support the families of those killed and injured (most of them children) in this tragedy would be gratefully received.

The community of Tumbler Ridge is reeling. Even the most brutally impacted by this terrible incident feel that now is not the time for politicizing or using the event to further an argument or agenda - any agenda. Support, healing thoughts, kindness, empathy, and grace would be very welcome now.

That is extremely interesting. Seeing the world from another angle. I just wonder why Quebec and Northwest Territories are not part of the international will agreement? (may have to do with Quebec not having signed the canadian constitution, I wonder?)

Dear readers, we are living a distopian nightmare, I agree!

But to clarify, the hiking ban is not as bad as dished out in these stories.

We own several hectares of woods in Nova Scotia and are not prevented from access to our own land.

My wife and I do live in the area where the Long Lake wild fire has been out of control to include over 8200 hectares with some homes lost and where many evacuations were required. We have had a severe drought since June 2025 with litteraly no rain at all to speak of. These fires require a lot of extra resources to fight. Now at the end of September our fire is under control but will keep burning underground for another year they suspect. A new fire has started in the province which they are battling right now. There is still no rain in the forecast. With the big emphasis on hiking and camping today, for us residents who have invested our lives in these rural areas, due caution is warranted.

A real question to ponder should be: why are many of the regions contributing to the national food supply plagued by severe drought or flooding? Our Nova Scotia valley area has a lot of farms producing vegetables and fruits. Our region in particular has been plagued by severe drought.

The NS government is under leadership of a globalist supporter (a former accountant for Black Rock). They are trying to creep in hidden legislations restricting rights and freedoms, the latest an omnibus bill where one component bans public protests from blocking logging roads subject to a fine of $50K, under the guise of "public safety". They are also trying to reverse a moratorium on uranium mining which not too many years ago was put into place after much consultation and major public support.

Yes there are many battles ahead, even in this small province, but the "woods ban" was the least of our worries.

What can Canada do, when crushing tariffs are imposed on our export market by the US? We need to expand our markets and cut ties with the US or we're in big trouble.

Everything you mention here about identity politics is a big reason why the NDP have been left in the Liberal party's dust. We're all sick of it too.

Thanks Bill, Now I don't have to explain or copy paste explanations from online about why the temporary forest hiking ban was enacted. It's infuriating that people are so gullible they will let forces, often from outside of their country, undermine every preventative action our govts try to take to deal with all of the crises we've been handed in the last few years.

The federal and provincial govt have to immediately crack down on foreign ownership of ALL business in Canada. And, with some investigation, it will become readily apparent that if somehow citizenship was acquired simply to be able to distort the political realm for their benefit, well f them and Bye Bye!
