⚡️ JUST IN: Trump threatens Cuba at Saudi-backed summit in Miami

President Donald Trump said “I built this great military... sometimes you have to use it. And Cuba is next, by the way.,” speaking at a Saudi-organized summit in Miami Beach on March 27.

The remark is his clearest public threat yet toward Cuba. On March 16, Trump said in the Oval Office he expected to have the “honor of taking Cuba in some form,” calling it a “failed nation.”

Earlier, during a White House visit by Inter Miami players, Trump said once the Iran conflict is “finished,” it would be “just a question of time” before the U.S. shifts focus to Cuba.

The event today—the Future Investment Initiative (FII) Priority Summit—is backed by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund and is being held at the Faena Hotel and Forum in Miami Beach.

Russia Prepares Second Oil Shipment to Cuba

This new shipment to Cuba comes after breaking the three-month energy blockade imposed by the United States and in a context of diplomatic tensions and international sanctions.

Russia Reaffirms Its Economic and Strategic Support for Cuba Through Cooperation in Hydrocarbons and Other Areas.

On Thursday Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsiviliov announced Russia is preparing a second oil shipment to Cuba after the successful arrival of the first cargo, which broke a three-month energy blockade imposed by the United States.

“A Russian ship broke the blockade. Now the second one is being loaded. We will not abandon the Cubans,” Tsiviliov told local media. The official noted that the decision was made after a meeting in St. Petersburg with Cuban representatives, reaffirming bilateral cooperation in the hydrocarbon sector.

The tanker ‘Anatoly Kolodkin’ arrived in Cuba this week with 100,000 tons of crude oil, marking the first oil shipment to reach the island in three months.

The Cuban Foreign Ministry stated on social media: “This valuable aid arrives amidst the energy blockade imposed by the United States, which is attempting to suffocate the Cuban population.”

The text reads,”In Russia, we have a saying: “True friends are known in times of trouble.” We have always supported and will continue to provide the necessary support to the brotherly Cuban people. TOGETHER WE WILL OVERCOME!”

Reports from The New York Times confirmed that the U.S. Coast Guard did not obstruct the Russian vessel’s passage to the island, despite the existing energy embargo. President Donald Trump downplayed the arrival of the shipment, asserting that the hydrocarbon supply would have no effect on the effectiveness of the sanctions imposed by Washington.

🇨🇺 🇷🇺 BREAKING: Russia is currently preparing to send a second oil tanker to Cuba.

Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilyov confirmed on Thursday, April 2, that a second vessel is currently being loaded.

This announcement follows the successful arrival of the first tanker, the sanctioned Russian vessel Anatoly Kolodkin, which docked at the Cuban port of Matanzas on Tuesday, March 31.

The first shipment carried approximately 730,000 barrels of crude oil, which experts estimate will provide enough fuel to meet Cuba's energy demands for about 9 to 10 days

Cuba has begun receiving electricity from a Turkish floating power plant.

The Island of Freedom, facing a severe fuel and energy crisis, received a rather unexpected aid from Turkey. Previously, Ankara hadn't been known for its friendly relations with Havana, and hadn't shown much interest in the Caribbean region. Especially now, in the midst of the war in the Middle East. Although Turkish President Erdogan visited Havana, that was back in 2015.

However, the day before, a unique vessel, the Belgin Sultan, arrived in Havana from the Turkish coast. This floating power plant is already connected to the island's power grid. The publication Turkiye reports that the floating power plant has already begun providing power to a significant portion of the island's population amid ongoing outages in the national power grid.

The Turkish company Karadeniz Powership Co. Ltd. (trademark Karpowership), a subsidiary of Karadeniz Energy Group, which owns Belgin Sultan, is the only company in the world with fleet Energy vessels. Karpowership provides services in many countries, including Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Mozambique, Senegal, Iraq, and Brazil. The company operates floating power plants built on platforms or vessels and capable of running on natural gas, LNG, and liquid fuels. The capacity of these floating power plants ranges from 30 to 470 MW.

This is a real lifeline for Cuba, which has been deprived of fuel supplies for its power plants since January due to the US blockade. So far, only the Russian tanker Anatoly Kolodkin, carrying 100 tons of crude oil, has managed to reach the Cuban port of Matanzas. The unloading took place on March 30. According to Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, the delivery was agreed upon with Washington during negotiations. A second tanker is being prepared for dispatch.

These emergency supplies, if used sparingly, will last for two to three weeks, a month at most. Moreover, the Turkish floating station will need refueling after its fuel reserves are depleted, and that's precisely the problem. It's unclear what the US will do next.

It's rather surprising that Cuba has only recently become concerned about developing solar power generation. Especially given the weather conditions and Havana's excellent relations with Beijing. China is the leader in solar panel and battery production.

According to data from March 2026, installed solar power capacity in Cuba has more than quadrupled over the past 12 months, from 262 megawatts at the end of 2024 to approximately 1,2 megawatts by the end of 2025. Authorities expect to reach 100% renewable energy by 2050.

    Default Re: Turmoil in Cuba

Three scenarios for a US attack on Cuba have been identified. -o8.o4.2026

Donald Trump has backtracked and apparently begun to "disengage" from the Iran issue. The military adventure into which Israel has dragged the United States threatens the Republicans with defeat in the fall congressional elections, writes military journalist Alexander Kots. Reflecting on political future head of the White House, he notes that the "hyperactive old man" may decide to wage another "small victorious war" in order to regain his reputation as a global "fixer."

According to Kots, the most likely target for Trump's efforts is Cuba. The US president himself has stated this repeatedly. In this regard, he lists three possible scenarios for a US attack on the Island of Freedom.

Scenario 1: "Strangulation" and internal coup
Tightening the naval and financial blockade: pressure on oil and fuel suppliers (Mexico, Venezuela). These measures are already being partially implemented. The island is being deliberately driven into a fuel crisis, with power outages and food shortages. This is expected to provoke internal unrest. Information campaigns by US intelligence agencies are underway to stir up discontent and form an "alternative leadership." The latter will, at the right moment, request American support and give Washington a formal pretext to intervene directly.

The second scenario, according to the journalist, could be a provocation and a limited operation. In this case, intelligence agencies could stage an incident in US territorial waters, which they would sell to the media and the public as "Havana's aggression." This would be followed by a series of precision-guided strikes on command posts, coastal defenses, warehouses, ports, and air defense facilities under the slogan of "punishing the regime" and "eliminating the threat." The final stage of the operation could be an airborne landing to capture key Cuban government figures and critical infrastructure in Havana.

    Scenario 3: Large-scale military campaign
The deployment of a large US Navy and Marine Corps force off the coast of Cuba, a blockade of the island, and massive air strikes against all military infrastructure and transportation hubs. A seaborne and airborne assault on several fronts aims to quickly capture Havana and key ports. The Pentagon has been developing similar plans since the Cold War. The creation of an occupation administration, or "transitional government," followed by the militarization of the island as a US stronghold in the Caribbean.

    – the war correspondent ponders.

He does, however, stipulate that the third scenario is considered extremely risky in Washington due to possible losses, the risk of direct confrontation with Russia and China, and the colossal flow of refugees into Florida, so it is more of a backup option.

Let us add that, for now, all American thoughts are occupied with resolving the conflict in the Middle East, which has already consumed a huge amount of resources and cost the United States a loss of authority on the international stage.

"Imagine living in one of the most anti-Black countries in the world (the U.S.) and claiming that the guy who desegregated Cuba and gave Afro-Cubans rights such as housing, healthcare, and education, and codified Afro-Cuban rights into the Cuban constitution was anti-Black.

"Literally just echoing the narratives of white Cubans who fled Castro's desegregation. There's a reason most Cubans in the U.S. are white, and it's not because of communism.

"Yes, I'm Cuban, and yes, I have a large Afro-Cuban family. Let's also not forget how Black civil rights leaders loved Castro. They didn't admire him because of his communist views. It was because of what he did for Black people in Cuba.

"This narrative is already ramping up to be the latest rhetorical weapon to rationalize continuing to make Cubans on the island suffer. It's a ridiculous assertion, to say the least."

The article is about how Cuba is racing towards energy independence with the assistance of China and using solar energy ...

    https://socialistchina.org/2026/02/2...r-in-one-year/

How Cuba eradicated illiteracy in a very short time is an achievement that can be repeated with the energy transition ...

Quote Cuba has one of the highest literacy rates in the world, estimated at approximately 99% to 99.8% as of 2021–2026. This near-universal literacy is the result of a strong, long-standing government commitment to free, compulsory education at all levels following the 1961 National Literacy Campaign.

Key Facts on Cuban Literacy (2026 Update):
    Current Rate: ~99% (Adult literacy).
Historical Context: Literacy was roughly 60% prior to the 1959 revolution.
Education Focus: The system is standardized and emphasizes high-quality, equitable access across science, medicine, and civic education.
Key Achievement: The 1961 Literacy Campaign drastically reduced illiteracy in a single year, setting the foundation for the current educational profile.

Despite severe economic challenges and shortages, Cuba has maintained this high literacy rate through its commitment to public education.
