John, thank you for posting these. I had no idea Lloyd’s of London began as a coffee house, and I found that whole historical thread genuinely fascinating. The way those articles connect maritime risk, trade, empire, and modern finance was far more revealing than I expected. Much appreciated — a very worthwhile read.

It is with a heavy heart that the world marks the passing of our true friend and mentor Major Edward A. Dames, a figure whose life and work stood at the frontier of human perception. US pilot rescued from downed F-15E fighter jet in Iran, search for second crew member ongoing

One of the pilots who flew an F-15E fighter jet in Iran has been rescued, a well-placed source told Fox News.

A search is still ongoing for the second crew member, the source said.

President Donald Trump has been briefed on the incident, which marks the first known loss of U.S. aircraft in Iran since the conflict known as Operation Epic Fury began Feb. 28.

It comes after 13,000 combat flights and five weeks into the campaign. Three F-15s were lost in a friendly fire incident in Kuwait.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and state media claimed to have shot down the U.S. fighter jet over central Iran, specifically in the mountainous Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province.

Initial Iranian reports claimed the aircraft was an F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter. However, subsequent photos of wreckage released by Iranian media suggest the aircraft may be an F-15E Strike Eagle, likely from the 494th Fighter Squadron based at Royal Air Force Lakenheath base.

The Trump administration has notified congressional leaders about the incident, two sources confirmed to Fox.

The jet was apparently shot down by Iran, one U.S. official told Fox News Digital. Central Command, the theater responsible for operations in the Middle East, has not confirmed the incident but is expected to issue a statement soon.

Local footage appears to show HC-130s and HH-60 Black Hawks flying low over Iranian territory, suggesting a search for those on board. Israeli Defense Forces paused their strikes while the search and rescue operation is underway.

Combat search-and-rescue missions inside hostile territory are among the most dangerous operations, often requiring aircraft and helicopters to operate deep inside enemy air defenses. U.S. fighter pilots undergo advanced survival, evasion, resistance and escape (SERE) training designed to prepare them to evade capture and survive behind enemy lines.

If they're offering a reward, that means they don't have him/her, nor know where he's at.

Most of the regular know it all expert talking heads and Trump haters are actually sounding like they hope the pilot is captured and executed just so it makes Trump look bad or worse, quite pathetic.

Nobody dared to go outside. My elderly friend (88) phoned and asked "What's wrong with the sky?" I told him that the Martians had landed.

The dust comes over the sea from Africa - about 200 miles, I think. On the way, the heavier particles fall into the sea so that what reaches us is extremely fine like laser printer toner powder and it sticks hard to any smooth surface.

Fascinating about the dust coming from Africa, and how the distance leaves just that fine stuff.

Sounds like a hassle, and a breathing risk. Here in Alberta, wildfire smoke coming from hundreds of miles away can make the air appear brownish gray, looking just a block or 2 down the street. They say it’s harmful to folks with lung/breathing issues, though I’ve never felt a problem. But that is just wood-ash, not whatever minerals are blown up from exposed earth.

Saharan dust is said to be, to have long been, the main source of minerals for the entire Amazon watershed. … Now I’m wondering what that huge swathe of South America looked like when North Africa was soaking wet, per Robert Schoch, enough to rain-erode the Sphinx. So, say, 10 or 20k years ago, not that long ago in geologic terms.

The following is from another forum. I didn't write it but I agree with the sentiment.

I think 'mixing things up' is a brilliant Trump strategy.

It keeps his enemies constantly off-balance while giving President Trump total control of the narrative.

Loyalists serve their purpose effectively. Then, just as the Deep State builds up its stockpile of leverage — the board clears. New operator steps in. Nobody knows what he has or what he's about to do with it.

That uncertainty is the weapon.

Sessions. Huber. Barr. Durham. Bondi. Blanche.

Each one a move. Each one keeping every player on the board guessing.

I'm not aware of any. Crete in Greek is ΚΡΗΤΗ - pronounced "Krreetee". The nearest thing to a joke that comes to mind is that people from Crete are Cretans (cretins) which isn't far from the truth for some villagers where interbreeding has produced at least one idiot for every generation. But, I hasten to add, Cretans are renowned for their (mostly) good nature and hospitality towards strangers.
I was walking in the countryside with other expat friends when a Cretan family rushed out of their house and presented each of us with a shot glass of tsikoudiá ("raki"). Before I could sip my alcohol, two young men lifted me onto a nearby horse, which suddenly remembered a prior appointment and left me in mid air. Luckily, the lads caught me on the way down. My companions, meanwhile, had continued on their way, leaving me to fend off the invitation to stay for lunch.

Crete is similar to Wales in many respects, having approximately the same area, mountains, sheep and people who speak a different language. However, in summer the rain stops and the heat begins. (The tourists have started to arrive here already, despite the red dust and rain.) The majority of Cretan people speak at least some English.

BTW Greek Easter starts on Sunday April 10th.

I feel the storm was artificially created possibly to mask troop and ship movements. If it extended over Iran, it would hinder sortie missions. I was watching the chemtrailing in the skies in my area minutes ago and thought how that's similar to the Anunnaki story of them needing gold to fix their atmosphere.

i have not heard anything. A close friend of mine knows him from the golf club and has not mentioned anything. i am amazed how he keeps going with so much on his plate I cannot imagine the things he needs to juggle.
