Military expert Massoud Assadollahi raised critical points over #US President Donald Trump’s account of the US military rescue operation in Isfahan, Iran, saying the operation was "riddled with contradictions" in an interview for Al Mayadeen.

#Trump had described the mission to recover the downed F-15E weapons systems officer as "one of the largest, most complex, most harrowing combat searches … ever attempted," involving "155 aircraft, including four bombers, 64 fighters, 48 refueling tankers and 13 rescue aircraft."

Assadollahi questioned the scale, asking, "How could 155 aircraft be deployed to rescue a single soldier?"

He further asserted that the operation’s true objective was not a rescue at all but an attempt to "steal enriched uranium in #Isfahan."

According to Assadollahi, the US "failed in their uranium theft mission," adding, "For the record, the pilot’s rescue did not take place in Isfahan, but in a different location," highlighting the discrepancies in Trump’s narrative and suggesting a deliberate cover-up of the operation’s real aim.

President Donald Trump acknowledged in a Sunday interview that the United States shipped weapons to anti‑government protesters in Iran during last January’s unrest, saying the munitions were funneled through Kurdish groups.

However, the head of government expressed doubt about whether the intended recipients ever received them, suggesting instead that the Kurds likely retained the supplies.

ID documents belonging to USAF personnel were found scattered between the grounded helicopters and the escape aircraft, dropped while fleeing under fire.

The question the analysts are asking: why would a military rescue operation involve personnel traveling on civilian visas through Ben Gurion Airport?

from Tehran University on the show today who point-blank told us that if Trump makes good on his threat to destroy Iranian energy plants and bridges, that Iran will take the gloves off and begin systematically destroying oil production facilities, electricity generating plants, and desalination facilities in Israel and GCC countries friendly to the United States - and if the conditions in Iran get too dire, they may also start destroying every tanker currently floating in the Persian Gulf.

The economic impact in the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia would be profound, and last years. The chances of a depression - not merely a recession - would be high, as it would take many years to repair the damage, even after the war would end.

We have put Iran in a no-win position, and desperate gov's take desperate actions when their physical lives are in the balance.

We have spent too many years lying to Iran, pretending to be in diplomatic talks to resolve thorny issues, only to be exposed as having been using the discussion to buy time to build up military power for an attack. As a result, now that we really need a diplomatic solution, we don't have the credibility to seek one, because they no longer trust us. From Iran's point of view, it would be irrational to trust the US to make good on any terms it negotiated, if it means surrendering its point of greatest leverage: control of the Straits of Hormuz.

Worse, Trump again today bragged that he really wants to seize Iran's oil, like he stole it from Venezuela last year. These kinds of lies and thefts can have immediate apparent benefit to the Trump team, but the costs could be profound in the medium term, especially if they lead desperate actors to take shocking actions, like returning our fire against our allies in the region.

We must hope and pray that Trump does not order the attack on Iran's energy system on Tuesday night as he's promising he will. We may never recover from the consequences that would likely follow

I'm missing something about the 'rescue' operation near Isfahan. All of these downed aircrafts must have been carrying dozens or perhaps even hundreds of troops. What happened to all these soldiers? How many human bodies did the Iranians collect from the crash/explosion site? Or, did one or two aircrafts manage to collect them all and escape?

The 'passport(s)' found near the destroyed aircrafts sound a but suspicious to me. Like a decoy.

What about the possibility that those soldiers that survived are hiding right now in the desert, planning to carry out deadly operations. No doubt the Iranians are closely monitoring the area. But still, we need clarification as to whether or not some USA aircrafts managed to escape with loads of soldiers.

I'm not being flippant here - though you can't help but laugh! Sometimes I have to pinch myself at the insanity, except that there are people being killed and traumatized. (He confirmed the eventual safe evacuation of all the personnel who'd been stranded after the C-130s had foundered on the dirt airstrip, that having happened because it was April, when some of the ground was wet, and also because the C-130s were too heavy.)

I do think his analysis was spot-on. The only thing he didn't make a reference to was the American IDs that were later found. No American CSAR (Combat Search and Rescue) personnel would have been carrying IDs. But if this was a hastily reconfigured uranium raid, involving elite special forces, those would have been carrying IDs in case of capture — which would all have been fake ones.
