"Veteran of UFO Disclosure, Nick Pope" has announced that he has been diagnosed with late-stage cancer and does not expect to survive the illness. “I’m afraid my diagnosis and my situation leaves no doubt whatsoever: I can’t beat it.”

“Unfortunately, it’s Stage 4 and has metastasized to my liver,” Pope said of his esophageal cancer, a terminal diagnosis that followed an examination into digestive issues that he was experiencing.

“While I know that it’s kindness and hope that leads people to suggest healers and supposed miracle cures, and to say things like “fight it”, and “you can beat it”, I’m afraid my diagnosis and my situation leaves no doubt whatsoever: I can’t beat it.”

Before he became known as a preeminent UFO investigator, Pope had a 21-year career with the UK Ministry of Defence, where he was “involved in subjects ranging from financial policy to counter-terrorism; from military policing to UAP,” according to Pope.

It was Pope’s three-year stint investigating UFOs for the MoD’s UFO desk with Secretariat (Air Staff) 2 from 1991 to 1994 that led to a career investigating the phenomenon after he left the government; in that time he became “a regular commentator on TV news shows and documentaries, as well as consulting and acting as spokesperson on various UFO and alien-themed movies, TV series and video games, ” adding that “the media called me the real Fox Mulder!”

“The things I’ve done; the places I’ve been; the people I’ve met; and the secrets I’ve been privy to,” Pope remarked regarding his work with the MoD, “I wouldn’t have swapped it for the world.”

But Pope described the “true highlight” of his life to be his “wonderful, beautiful and incredibly smart wife,” “a real-life Agent Scully” to his Fox Mulder, “a scientist, a skeptic and a redhead.”

“To everyone who’s followed me on my journey, thank you – and good luck with your own journeys. I wish you every success and happiness.

“It’s all been amazing, and I’m grateful for the things I’ve done, not mournful for the things that I won’t now get to do.

“Per Aspera Ad Astra!”

Sad news. I really liked Nick Pope. He brought seriousness, balance, and credibility to a subject that desperately needed all three. In a world full of noise, he was one of the few who stayed measured and real. My condolences to his wife Elizabeth and all who loved him. Rest in peace, Nick.

Received this old photo from a friend, left to right is Roy Lake, Dan then myself. I'm guessing this is from the 90s. Roy unfortunately passed away last Christmas, I've known him since 1974 when I joined his then Ufo group EUFOSG (Essex Ufo Study Group), continued onwards and eventually became an investigator for his then group LUFOS (London Ufo Studies). I guess Roy must have been around 82-85 when he passed, a lifelong Ufologist.

All space on the bookcase has been well and truly used up, its chock-a-block with books and stuff so these additions must sit here in a separate pile till another bookcase is purchased. You will notice the two bottom books, the big ones are Jerome Clarke UFO ENCYCLOPEDIA, vol 1 and 2. These beauties cost 60 GBP each, hows that for dedication to Ufology LOL. In the archives are virtually everything on Roswell and Rendlesham, two very important cases, both have secrets yet to be uncovered and both have a sting in the tail.

Hi Barry. Wow, that stack of intruiging titles!

The one “World War II From Above” catches my eye. My dad flew for Ferry Command, Mitchells across the north and south ocean, then later flew Sabres out of France and then England. And one of mom’s brothers flew bombers in the ETO.

I’ve heard of “foo fighters”. Dad never much spoke about any of his service, and I sometimes wonder what he knew of stuff like that.

The stigma must have been in full swing, even as far back as that, and the military culture was don’t be talking about anything.

A vid from Miles which I had not seen before. I trained Lisa to be a LUFOS investigator in 1994 and I also reviewed her book, as shown by Miles, in 1994 for LUFOS. I spoke with Lisa over a length of time via email a few years back, sharing info and data, we spoke about Miles wanting to do a 20 year update of Bases One, I told her I was not really interested but she gave way and did the update, I believe with Christine Hart on her radio show. If I can locate that vid I'll place it here.
