Hi Le Chat (The Cat). As my avatar suggests, I am a “cat person”. But I rather think that I’m a “cat dog”, a dog who happens to like cats. If being liked by a dog might send you off a deep end, maybe I’ll get some laps of my kennel or some extra details cleaning the poop yard. That would be kharma.

What you are referring to about that story (your take), is instant karma, which is a predatory thing, much enjoyed by the kinds of people who laugh the loudest and longest at others’ misfortunes.

Is your love perfect? You try to squash this man, after his body has already been squashed by those four surprised and alarmed big aunties and the kid’s big mom. Do you value those deer he was attempting to harvest, more than the countless bugs you squish every year in your righteousness-distracted stepping?

    From that Guardian article:

Quote Reflecting on Dosio’s life, a retired hunter who knew him shared with the UK outlet: “Ernie has been hunting since he could hold a rifle and has many trophies from Africa and the US. Although many disagree with big-game hunting, all Ernie’s hunts were strictly licensed and above board and were registered as conservation in culling animal numbers.”

The same source, based in Cape Town, described the incident as the elephants being “surprised” by Dosio and his guide’s presence.

“Kharma”, including when such returns are quick, is a worthy subject, but this thread is something else.

Hunting for 'sport' is ego-driven, narcissistic, primitive, cruel and sadistic. There's nothing in the world that could change my view.

And elephants are highly intelligent and sensitive. They'll also do anything at all to protect their calves from possible harm.

Hi Bill. I take from this post, that you identify as not ego-driven, not narcissistic, not primitive, and not cruel and sadistic. That is a hefty claim, alongside your championing of “highly intelligent and sensitive”, about which these elephants are accidental.

All I’m saying is that KARMA is not what this thread is about. It is about predation, as much as the article story is.

Well, I'd never say that myself, or else that might be rather too ego-driven. I'd leave it to others to offer their opinions. But if I have ny kind of vote on this, I'd suggest that yes, the above might be more or less true.

Here's a photograph of James H. Sutherland (1872 – 1932), the author of The Adventures Of An Elephant Hunter (1912).

Per Wikipedia, he killed between 1,300 and 1,600 elephants. I assume that he saw that as some type of remarkable achievement and his readers did too. He stood there with a gun, pulled a trigger, and in an instant, ended the life of an intelligent and complex animal who could have continued to live much longer. Then he stood of the dead body of the animal for some "victory" pose, as if he did something courageous or heroic.

It seems that the world has a changed for better, and this behavior is now considered to be utterly despicable by most people and in many instances these actions are now illegal. By today's standards, Sutherland would be considered a coward and a despot.

Or may the world has gotten worse.

We now have a few individuals who have slithered the way to the top of governments and used their power to wield destructive weapons to destroy the lives of children and the elderly, to destroy families, homes, communities, villages, cultures, civilizations, all because their vainglorious egos need to continually aggrandize themselves. I don't think all the stampeding elephants in the world could deliver the karma necessary to fix this. The only possible way I can think of to redeem them from their evil is purgatory, a few aeons vacation in purgatory. It's hard to image how long and aeon is or what it would like to be to spend an aeon in purgatory, but it also hard to image how anyone to give such massive and grotesque spiritual evil is out there.

Just two of the many bodies now on where malignant cancerous souls have incarnated to enact dark, spiritual evil. Unfortunately, there is no photograph of them standing atop the many victims looking victorious.

Their intelligence is such that they can take a back seat whilst humans rescue baby elephants, stuck in a drain, for instance. After the baby gets out the elephants almost in unison thank the humans for their help. There are videos demonstrating this but I don't need to be hunting for them because I know they exist.

This is what research actually is, hunting to confirm the veracity of someone else's claims rather than just accepting the claims as true. (Addressed to the forum in general, no particular individual.)

Several things race through my mind when I read this thread.
    • I am glad he will no longer be hunting
    • We still have so much more to learn about how humans should interact with nature
    • Human life is exceptionally frail
    • We all have been, are, or will be Ernie Dosio.
    • Celebrating death, any death of any living being, is never good for the soul.
    • Why must every thing have to be about Israel?
    • I often wonder if there was a time shift because people are more callous about human life
    • There is purpose to every human life and every event, even war and death
    • To bring peace to our minds, we must practice not thinking negatively

Saw this article in the news today and couldn't agree more. Those who kill these beautiful majestic creatures deserve no sympathy. What kind of scum do you have to be to take joy in this. I don't even like stepping on ants. If I find one in my home I'll put it outside or sometimes leave them be. You can tell a lot about a person by how they treat insects.

Hunting purely for sport feels hard to justify and I can understand the relief that someone who hunted in this way will no longer be doing so.

What gives me pause is the celebration itself. When a death becomes a source of satisfaction, that's something I find myself sitting with rather than joining in on.

There’s also a real distinction, for me at least, between killing for recreation and animals culled for ecological balance or genuine need. They often get spoken about as if they are the same but I do not see it that way.

The Love of hearing of a persons death is very disturbing to me, This thread Is all about Feeling good about others deaths.

Calling it Karma Is only an attempt to feel morally better than the the person who has died.

First off, I for one here , never liked The idea of trophy hunting. Even though I have hunted my entire life. I only shot what I intended to eat, And when I did I respected the animal by following it from field to table fare. It is very different than ordering a burger from a restaurant , and being indifferant from the animal you are consuming.

Somebody killed any meat you have consumed. Shall we celebrate Their deaths also?

Please do not start on being a vegy only person. That is only but another excuse of being better than somebody else.

I think many people love animals so much. Many who have come back from NDE's (Near Death Experiences) report when going through a life review they experience how others felt in relation to their actions in life. I would think this would also happen with how a person treated an animal. We are suppose to review our self and how we would do things differently if we were truelly in touch with everything around us and how our actions have consequenses. We know we are connected to everything.

I hope the person who died from the elephants protecting themselves, will come to know a different way and return to Earth or another planet and love and respect animals, maybe become an advocate for wildlife and save many species because they learned their actions caused unnecessary pain.

I like when justice happens, i have this with me.
When someone that i know does alot of harm and take their karma hit, i find that correct and just, this may open the possibility for that person to change.

That's my nature. This dosn't mean i feel pleasure about his death, or that i celebrate his death, also death is nothing, is just a change of dimension, we all died hundreads of times, the thing is, no pleasure on it, but he got a hes karma, he died to an elephant, i think that's fair, this will register into his spirit, and maybe next life he will say no no to killing animals because of the mental registry of an elephant killing him. That's why God made karma, it's about balance and correction.

Karma is a teaching lesson, it's for growth and change, it's for evolution and learning.

So i find good that the elephant killed him, but i don't find joy or pleasure on it, i find it sad, sad what the guy did, and a bit reliefed that he died in that way, and i move on.

I would love to see what will happen to the Satanic Elite members after they die, and i know they will pay every cent of suffering they gave to humanity, i may be not ultra spiritual, or maybe being spiritual is not about being crazy distopian "kind" to all things. Maybe is spiritual to find relief in justice.

How many people start to learn to stop they behavior once it's happening to themselves? I've seen that happen, people can change and improve when it happens.

No, I can't celebrate a death either. I abhor seeing the Karma building and mourn when the results become apparent.

I would so much rather see a course correction.
Like in this scene from the movie "Powder."

It is justice. From my research and understanding, elephants are incredibly intelligent, rational, deeply emotional, and wise (indeed, these are human terms). They have endured this man's cruelty for many generations and have passed on warnings within their herd. His death was an act of divine justice rooted in nature. Good. Let Le Chat express an opinion without all the moralising and political correctness!

No, I can't celebrate a death either. I abhor seeing the Karma building and mourn when the results become apparent.

I would so much rather see a course correction.
Like in this scene from the movie "Powder."

Sue, I had forgotten about this movie, but I remember thinking that its premise was wonderfully provocative. It highlights that our actions always have consequences, which is why it’s important to think several steps ahead. For example, if you are hunting a deer, you should consider all the potential positive and negative outcomes. Similarly, when you ask a doctor to remove a tumor, you are not just asking for the surgery itself; you're asking him/her to restore health, enabling mobility, and improving quality of life. This is true for everything you do in life, such as driving a bus full of people, cleaning a house or just planting vegetables. Of course, you must always consider the negative outcomes as well. Contemplating the broader impact of our decisions will most often lead to a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Without saying the words, the video touches on capital punishment and the consequences of celebrating the loss of life. Thanks for posting.

eh Lunaflare. I think we all love and trust in justice too. It's just hard to watch it play out sometimes.
Just feelings - no judgement intended.

    edit to add:
*Natural God/Nature/Karma justice. Not necessarily legal justice, which isn't always as trustworthy.
