What all this looks like in shape is an updated Monroe Doctrine. On January 3, 2026, Trump publicly said the Monroe Doctrine had evolved into what he called the 'Donroe Doctrine.'

On January 4 to 6, major media and policy organisations began analysing it as a revival of hemispheric sphere of influence policy. By the middle of January, think tanks and academics were openly discussing whether the U.S. was entering a 'Monroe Doctrine 2.0' era. Come February 28, the joint US and Israeli war on Iran commenced.

Seems like the US empire is simply drawing in from its current global scope to lock down the Americas as its core territorial sphere of influence and push rival influences out (China is the unspoken target there).
