    • SpaceX Reveals Its Trillion Dollar Starships Plan! Not Just Mars! 🤯:

    SpaceX is ramping up Starship version 3. How long until we see first tests? Three Starship pads are in active construction. One has just passed a major milestone! What will SpaceX use three Starships per day for? Something even SpaceX Fans largely don’t know about. Vast launches first SpaceStation demonstrator. India launches a massive satellite into orbit. And China… is copying Starships.

    • Wow! SpaceX Are Ramping Up Starship Plans for the Moon? 🚀

    Big things are moving fast at Starbase! Pad 1’s demolition is ripping along while Pad 2 springs to life. SpaceX’s first Version 3 Starship and Super Heavy are almost ready, and official talk of that next flight timeline has begun. So, the Next Starship Flight, it's Maybe Sooner Than You Think! Plus we’ve got updates on orbital data centers, lunar surface missions, bandwagon 4 payloads, and new Falcon 9 launches as SpaceX ramps up its commercial and lunar operations.

    • SpaceX vs NASA and China with New Method to Build Moonbase Alpha:

    SpaceX vs NASA and China with New Method to Build Moonbase Alpha. How can the United States beat China in the new space race? The answer may come down to who builds a permanent Moon base first. NASA has a plan, but it’s slow, complicated, and tangled in red tape. Elon Musk thinks there’s a faster way. Cut the excess, skip the bureaucracy, and focus on one simple idea: one rocket for everything. That rocket is Starship — SpaceX’s bold vision for a lunar base that could change the game entirely. Let’s dive in — this is TechMap. SpaceX SHOCKED NASA and China with New Method to Build Moonbase Alpha. In essence, a permanent lunar base is humanity’s next foothold beyond Earth — something like a small town or research outpost planted on the Moon. The concept isn’t science fiction anymore. It would include habitats for astronauts to live and work, along with labs for scientific research. Power would come from solar arrays stretched across the gray regolith or perhaps compact nuclear reactors humming quietly through the lunar night. To sustain life, systems would recycle air, water, and waste, allowing crews to stay for months or even years at a time. The motivation goes beyond mere exploration. Because the Moon’s gravity is just one-sixth that of Earth, it offers a convenient launch point for missions deeper into the Solar System. Astronauts could test technologies needed for Mars expeditions while studying the Moon’s geology up close. There’s also a practical advantage: the Moon itself holds valuable resources. Water ice trapped in its polar craters could be turned into drinking water or rocket fuel. Mining lunar materials means less dependence on costly supply runs from Earth — a major step toward sustainable space operations. SpaceX vs NASA and China with New Method to Build Moonbase Alpha. That’s why nations with serious space ambitions are setting their sights on establishing a lunar base. China, partnering with Russia and others, aims to build one by the 2030s. Their vision includes laboratories, mining infrastructure, and reliable power systems, possibly nuclear. Officials in Beijing have hinted at welcoming international cooperation — on their terms. The United States, of course, isn’t sitting idle. NASA views the Moon as both a proving ground and a strategic necessity. The competition has sharpened since China’s Chang’e-6 mission planted flags on the lunar surface in June 2024, using material collected from basaltic plains. The message was unmistakable: they’re coming. For Washington, that has added a renewed urgency to get American astronauts not just back to the Moon, but to stay there.

    • Elon Musk Declared This about China Falcon 9 Clone Recovery Failed! Never Beat SpaceX:

    Text that is under the video, quote: "Elon Musk Declared This about China Falcon 9 Clone Recovery Failed! Never Beat SpaceX... China’s Falcon 9 copy just blew up during its landing attempt on its first flight! Yet somehow, it’s still being hailed as a major success. Even more surprising, Elon Musk is openly cheering them on, saying their clone could surpass SpaceX’s Falcon 9 within the next five years. So what really happened up there? Why would Elon praise a competitor for copying his rocket? And does this thing actually stand a chance against the original? Let’s break it all down in today’s episode of Alpha Tech. Elon Musk Declared This about China Falcon 9 Clone Recovery Failed! Never Beat SpaceX... They were this close, just a little bit more, to pulling off the very first flight of Zhuque-3, the rocket many peop lle are calling “China’s Falcon 9 version 2.” For a moment, it felt like the whole world was watching, because this would’ve been China’s first partially reusable rocket capable of landing itself. But things went south fast. During the return burn, the booster caught fire, lost control, and came crashing down. One big boom, and the whole vehicle was basically reduced to a pile of scrap metal. Elon Musk Declared This about China Falcon 9 Clone Recovery Failed! Never Beat SpaceX... This rocket comes from LandSpace, one of China’s biggest private space companies. Their growth over the past few years has been comparable to SpaceX in the U.S., except for one big difference: SpaceX keeps climbing, while LandSpace just took a massive hit. After the Zhuque-3 booster blew up on December 3rd, the company’s stock tanked as investors started losing confidence in this “Falcon-9-clone.” But here’s the twist: even though the landing failed and the company’s value dropped, LandSpace is still celebrating, and they even got a compliment from Elon Musk. Why?" unquote

    Voces

    May 15
    Translated from Spanish
    #Voices | Elon Musk's company SpaceX confirmed that it is exploring new locations around the world to build spaceports capable of supporting thousands of launches per year. Colombia emerged as one of the possibilities after business leaders and officials from Antioquia promoted the Gulf of Urabá as a strategic site due to its proximity to the Panama Canal and its geographical conditions.

    The conversation began after SpaceX posted on X that it is seeking to expand its international operations for the Starship project. Musk later responded, assuring that they are studying various points: "at the national and international level" to develop "the world's most advanced spaceports."

    From Colombia, entrepreneur Hernán Jaramillo publicly proposed Urabá as a potential headquarters for the project and offered to facilitate contacts with regional authorities and logistics players. The Governor of Antioquia also reacted by inviting Musk to consider the region as a strategic ally for innovation and technological development.

    Although there is no official decision or signed agreements at this time, the possibility has sparked debate about the economic, technological, and geopolitical impact that hosting SpaceX's space infrastructure would have for Latin America.

    SpaceX launches 6,500 pounds of cargo to the International Space Station after delay

    The robotic Dragon lifted off atop a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida May 15 at 6:05 p.m. EDT (2205 GMT)

    SpaceX launched its Dragon cargo capsule to the International Space Station today (May 15) after a weather delay.

    That amounted to a three-day delay; NASA and SpaceX called off attempts planned for both May 12 and 13 due to weather, then waited until today for the next chance.

    The launch kicked off the CRS-34 mission, so named because it's the 34th flight that SpaceX has conducted for NASA's Commercial Resupply Services program.

    Dragon is loaded up with about 6,500 pounds (2,950 kilograms) of supplies, hardware and scientific experiments for CRS-34. Among the scientific gear are "a project to determine how well Earth-based simulators mimic microgravity conditions, a bone scaffold made from wood that could produce new treatments for fragile bone conditions like osteoporosis, and equipment to evaluate how red blood cells and the spleen change in space to protect future astronauts," NASA officials wrote in a CRS-34 media advisory.

    This stuff will get to the International Space Station (ISS) on Sunday (May 17) around 7:05 a.m. EDT (1105 GMT), when Dragon docks autonomously to the forward port of the orbiting lab's Harmony module.

    CRS-34 is the sixth spaceflight for this particular Dragon capsule — a new record for a SpaceX cargo craft. One of the company's astronaut-carrying Crew Dragon capsules, named Endeavour, also has six missions under its belt.

    The capsule will stay attached to the ISS for just a month, coming back down to Earth in mid-June "with time-sensitive research and cargo, ahead of splashing down off the coast of California," NASA officials wrote.

    Dragon is the only ISS resupply ship that can haul material down to Earth. The other three operational robotic freighters — Japan's HTV-X, Russia's Progress and Northrop Grumman's Cygnus — are all designed to burn up in Earth's atmosphere when their time in orbit is up.

    SpaceX is ramping it up for Starship Flight 12 at Starbase.
    Well: 5 months later, after dozens of delays, today's finally the day.

    https://www.spacex.com/launches/starship-flight-12

    ~~~
    The twelfth flight test of Starship is preparing to launch as soon as Thursday, May 21. The launch window will open at 5:30 p.m. CT.
    A live webcast of the flight test will begin about 45 minutes before liftoff, which you can watch here and on X @SpaceX. You can also watch the webcast on the X TV app. As is the case with all developmental testing, the schedule is dynamic and likely to change, so be sure to check in here and stay tuned to our X account for updates.
    The upcoming flight will debut the next generation Starship and Super Heavy vehicles, powered by the next evolution of the Raptor engine and launching from a newly designed pad at Starbase.
    Read about the upgrades debuting on Starship, Super Heavy, Raptor, and the launch pad on Flight 12.
    The flight test’s primary goal will be to demonstrate each of these new pieces in the flight environment for the first time, with each element of the Starship architecture featuring significant redesigns to enable full and rapid reuse that incorporate learnings from years of development and test.
    ~~~

    It may be very interesting, particularly as this new upgrade (Version 3) is the biggest and most powerful rocket ever built. It looks like a slightly larger version of the previous Starship+Booster, but almost everything about it has been redesigned and/or improved.

    For those watching the live suborbital flight, the highlight may be the test-launch of a bunch of dummy Starlink satellites. One of them will have a live camera on it so that it can look back as it drifts away and track the Starship in 4k just a few feet away — a sight we've only seen before in Sci-Fi movies with expensive special effects.

    • A Closer Look At Starship's Upper Stage Landing:

    A few hours ago, SpaceX released new images and video of Starship's upper stage landing out in the Indian Ocean. With these angles, which were captured both from prepositioned drones and buoy cameras, we get a much better view of the landing maneuver in addition to the state of the ship and its heat shield.

    Despite the more aggressive reentry profile and even a missing tile apart from a test, the vehicle looks to have held up better than any previous upper stage.

    • SpaceX Announces LARGEST Starship Mission Ever! They've never done this before!:

    The man on the other end of that call is going to the Moon. And then, on a separate mission, he's going to Mars. A private citizen. Two crewed flights beyond Earth orbit. And the signs he left for over a year were sitting right there in plain sight. Today, we look at what just happened. Because Flight 12 was only the appetizer.

    Chun (@satofishi) quote: "This is part of the reason why this mission is necessary. When this remains the mainstream opinion, we will never become a multiplanetary civilization.

    True. There are risks. Everything comes with risks. Instead of holding back, we are proactively looking for solutions to mitigate those risks. This is how progress is made.

    I feel a bit sad when people claim that a crewed flyby has little to no scientific value. They fail to understand that the science of human spaceflight is, in large part, medical science. Despite years of ISS operations, there are still many gaps in our understanding of the impact of spaceflight on the human body.

    Many of the studies we carried out on fram2 were medical studies. Even though the mission was short, I carefully chose them to help us better understand and prepare for future long-duration deep-space flights. We will do the same on our journey to Mars. A precursor mission before committing to a landing will deepen our knowledge and help answer long-standing questions that ground experiments like Mars-500 could never answer.

    Doraemon only exists in manga. The Anywhere Door does not belong to our physical world. A nuclear engine will not solve every problem. In the end, we still have to spend months, if not years, in deep space to reach another planet or asteroid. This is orbital mechanics.

    When you recognize that life is short, the universe is vast, and that making life multiplanetary is inevitable and urgent, the only meaningful answer is:

    Work. 💪 unquote

    Chun (@satofishi) quote: "Now that Starship V3 has made its debut, we are one step closer to making life multiplanetary.

    During Fram2 training, apart from the usual Dragon-related topics, I remember that what we talked about most in the training room was how to reliably tether down on Phobos.

    Three months ago, Elon announced that the focus would shift toward the Moon. That makes sense. And I am also excited to see that, with AI data centers, we may eventually find a way to make space commercially practical.

    So why am I setting my sights on Mars rather than the Moon? Because I believe that even without private investment in lunar flights, we will still reach the Moon, and likely very soon. As competition between the United States and China intensifies, governments will turn lunar bases into reality. And I am happy to sit back and watch that happen.

    On the other hand, I have no confidence that Mars will still happen within our lifetime. And I think I should do something about that. I hope that by purchasing a flyby mission to Mars, SpaceX will have another reason not to forget about Mars. Because we seriously shouldn’t defer Mars to our next generation.

    Although this mission will not make a tether down on Phobos, everything has to begin with a first step. We had Mariner 4 and 9 before the Vikings, and today’s Curiosity and Perseverance. I hope this mission can show the public that Mars is not just a point of light in a telescope. It is a real place, and humans can fly there and come back alive and come back healthy.

    • SpaceX Finally Reveals The GIANT Starship Plan!:

    Remember this week. Because years from now, when there are Starships flying every single day, people are going to point back to it. SpaceX just had the biggest IPO in history. Two trillion dollars in market cap. The world's first trillionaire was minted. And then the COO of the company stood there and casually committed to six more Starship launches before the end of this year. The era of treating spaceflight as something rare is officially over. Let's break it all down.
