Thanks Szymon, great find! Puharich is one of the more layered figures in the 20th century consciousness and UFO research and worth looking at carefully. He was a real medical doctor and inventor who became deeply involved in psychic research, altered states and claims of contact with higher intelligences. A key piece of his work was "The Nine" which he said first appeared during a 1952 session with the Indian mystic Dr D.G Vinod. Puharich described them as advanced non-physical intelligences guiding humanity and influencing human evolution. One thing I have found fascinating for some time now is that the idea of The Nine does not appear to have started with Puharich. Ancient Egypt had a group of nine gods called the "Ennead" but in its original context this seems to have been a creation story describing how the cosmos emerged from chaos rather than a hidden council steering humanity. Over the centuries, especially through Hermetic and Theosophical traditions, these old symbols appear to have been reshaped into ideas about hidden masters, cosmic hierarchies and higher beings guiding human evolution.

An interesting detail is that during those early 50's sessions it was reportedly Puharich's wealthy backer Arthur M. Young, the engineer behind the first commercial helicopter, who took a strong interest in linking Vinod's "Nine" to the Egyptian Ennead. Seems like Puharich later absorbed much of that symbolism and blended it with his own interests in electromagnetics, consciousness and extraterrestrial ideas.

In many ways that small circle appears to have helped build the bridge between centuries of occult thought and the modern UFO and consciousness movement we still see today. And whether the Nine point to something genuinely real or whether they are a modern mythological inheritance dressed in the language of science, is the question worth sitting with, at least from my perspective.

Puharich is interesting either way and this lecture is a good window into the man himself near the end of his life who passed away in 1995.

Israel seems to have a very significant place in the Extra-Terrestrial "niche" - or at least Jewish scientists, Cliff High always presents the origins of the Jewish faith as being space aliens, intriguing stuff, there is a massive gulf between the surface level & the esoteric details: anything that has Arthur M. Young supporting it is worthy of attention, granted I am an Arthur Young fanboy, it simply strikes me that he is a remarkable man.
