    A RING AROUND THE BLUE MOON

    Not only was the Blue Moon not blue, it was surrounded by a lumpy ring of bright orange. "It was the most beautiful pollen corona that I've ever seen," says Matti Helin, who photographed the phenomenon from Finland on May 31st.

    “The shape of the halo and the yellow dust on everything suggests that this was caused by pine pollen."

    www.spaceweather.com

    That's 100% correct. Right now, the male cones of Finnish pines are releasing their yellow dust into the atmosphere--a natural part of their reproductive cycle. Every tree produces millions of grains because they rely on wind to deliver the pollen to the female cones. It is a very inefficient way to have sex, but a great way to make "pollen coronas."

    Coronas are rings of light that surround the sun or Moon when their light is scattered from small particles. Pollen grains are excellent scatterers while they are suspended in mid-air.

    Pine pollen coronas are elliptical and lumpy because the underlying grains are, too. This photo of pine pollen seen through a microscope shows what's going on.

    They look like little Mickey Mouse hats--a result of air sacs that help carry them in the wind. These align the grains so that the unruly swarm can scatter light coherently, encoding their individual structures into the shape of the overall corona.

    Feast of St Anthony – June 13

    Anthony of Padua, OFM, or Anthony of Lisbon; born Fernando Martins de Bulhões (15 August 1195 – 13 June 1231) was a Portuguese Catholic priest and member of the Order of Friars Minor. He is the patron saint of lost or stolen articles.

    Anthony was born to and raised by a wealthy family in Lisbon, Portugal, and died in Padua, Italy. Noted by his contemporaries for his powerful preaching, expert knowledge of scripture, and undying love and devotion to the poor and the sick, he was one of the most quickly canonized saints in church history, being canonized less than a year after his death.

    Space Rock News

    Massive boom over northeastern US was a meteor explosion as powerful as 300 tons of TNT

    A sonic boom heard throughout the northeastern United States last week was caused by a meteor, NASA confirmed after consulting satellite imagery.

    The meteor's boom, heard widely on Saturday (May 30) at 2:06 p.m. EDT (local time), was audible over the northeastern U.S. NASA made the determination that it was a meteor based on both eyewitness reports to the American Meteor Society as well as images from the GOES-19 satellite from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

    "The meteor appears to have fragmented at an altitude of 40 miles over northeast MA and southeast NH," NASA officials wrote on X on Sunday (May 31). "The energy released at breakup is estimated to be equivalent to about 300 tons of TNT, which accounts for the loud noise."

    Sometimes meteors are associated with meteor showers, or annual clusters of visible meteors associated with the Earth passing through the dust stream of a comet or asteroid. The May 30 event was not one of those, NASA noted.

    The GOES-19 geostationary lightning mapper captured the meteor's flash, added the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere based at Colorado State University in a separate X post on Saturday with imagery of the event.

    Fingal's Cave

    Scotland's 'cave of melody' where eerie echoes bounce off pillars of solidified lava

    Fingal's Cave is a hollow inside the Scottish island of Staffa that is characterized by massive, interlocking hexagonal columns of volcanic rock and astonishing acoustics.

    The hollow extends 230 feet (70 meters) deep and 60 feet (18 m) high inside the small, uninhabited island of Staffa, located in Scotland's Inner Hebrides. It was carved by a volcanic eruption sometime during the Paleocene epoch (66 million to 56 million years ago).

    The cave gets its name from an Irish myth about a warrior called Fionn Mac Cumhaill. According to the legend, Fionn — whose full name was shortened to Fingal, meaning "white stranger" — built the Giant's Causeway across the sea to Scotland to fight a rival called Benandonner, and Fingal's Cave is what remains of Fionn's path over the ocean on the Scottish side.

    The 18th-century Scottish writer James Macpherson popularized the name Fingal's Cave with a book titled "Fingal, an Ancient Epic Poem in Six Books" that was published in 1762. Then, after visiting the cave in 1829, the Romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn wrote an overture — a musical introduction to a ballet or opera — known as the "Hebrides Overture" or "Fingal's Cave Overture."

    Mendelssohn was inspired by the natural acoustics and eerie echoes inside Fingal's Cave, according to the National Trust for Scotland. A nod to these unique sounds is also found in the cave's Gaelic name, "Uamh-Binn," meaning "cave of melody" or "musical cave." Mendelssohn's overture established Fingal's Cave as a tourist destination, and other famous visitors include the authors Jules Verne and Robert Louis Stevenson, the poets John Keats and Lord Alfred Tennyson, and Queen Victoria.

    The cave can still be visited today through organized sightseeing cruises that take tourists inside the cathedral-like cavern when ocean conditions are calm enough.

    What You'll See When You Die

    The 5 Stages of Death

    What happens when we die?

    Thousands of people who were clinically dead describe the same experience. Across cultures and beliefs, near-death experiences follow a strikingly similar pattern: separation from the body, movement through darkness toward light, encounters with loved ones, a life review, and a final boundary between life and death. This cinematic video essay explores documented NDE cases involving cardiac arrest survivors, blind patients, children, and medical professionals, alongside the scientific debate around consciousness and the brain. Includes interviews with the parties involved.

    5 Strongest Signs Of Ghosts & The Afterlife ...

    The general consensus among scientists is that there is no significant evidence supporting the existence of ghosts, and many view such beliefs as a form of pseudoscience. However, over the years, we have uncovered a wealth of evidence suggesting otherwise, and while we’re not claiming that full-bodied apparitions are haunting us in the dead of night, there's certainly enough proof to imply that a person's spirit continues on in some form after death. In this video we’ll look at 5 cases that may convince you that ghosts and the afterlife may exist after all.

    A Collision of Galaxy Clusters

    This big beautiful spiral shines in X-ray light. It is about 20 times larger than our Galaxy. It belongs to Abell 2029, a galaxy cluster one billion light-years away. Galaxy clusters are the largest structures in the universe that are supported by gravity.

    Abell 2029 is formed by thousands of galaxies, surrounded by a huge cloud of hot gas and the equivalent of hundreds of trillions times the mass of the Sun in dark matter. The spiral is made of gas, mostly hydrogen and helium, heated to tens of millions of degrees. It was found in a recent study that used data from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory to show that Abell 2029 had a collision with a smaller cluster four billion years ago. The collision affected the gravitational field and caused the intracluster gas to slosh, like wine moving in a wine glass, shaping the spiral.

    This is pretty interesting.That's an account of what famous film critic Roger Ebert said to his wife as he was passing away back in 2013. Here's a quote from the article:

    ~~~
    The day before he passed away, he wrote me a note: "This is all an elaborate hoax." I asked him, "What's a hoax?" And he was talking about this world, this place. He said it was all an illusion.
    I thought he was just confused. But he was not confused. He wasn't visiting heaven, not the way we think of heaven. He described it as a vastness that you can't even imagine. It was a place where the past, present, and future were happening all at once.
    Maybe I can elaborate more. This vastness is infinity and it literally scares me half to death to even think of. I don't think I was ready to see what I saw.
    It was as if I was going in an endless "up". I have to use the quotation marks because "up" is not the right word
    Maybe I can elaborate more. This vastness is infinity and it literally scares me half to death to even think of. I don't think I was ready to see what I saw.
    It was as if I was going in an endless "up". I have to use the quotation marks because "up" is not the right word
    The world felt fake like everything was made of cardboard
    There was something wrong with all the lights and it felt like they were looking at me
    Well, it was a long time before the strangeness stopped completely. I had to be institutionalized for my own safety that's how bad things got. The institution changed me a lot. It was like jail and I still feel like I'm going to lose my phone or wallet all the time. I lied to get out, I told them my experiences were all in my imagination even though I know it was much more than that
    The institution was what saved me. I'm not sure how, being away from my home probably had something to do it. I was also put on a medication called Abilify but I've since stopped taking it because I don't think I need it any more. I met a lot of people in there and I was surprised how smart they all were
    I was certain I would die, and then when I didn't I felt as if something, an angel? God? They decided to let me live! I'm grateful.
    I'm not the same person I used to be that's for sure. Life feels like a chore now and I can't seem to find any joy in anything. I keep expecting something to happen, and I'm getting nervous. I feel like an alien
    This ranch has always been kind of strange. Actually, that is it’s main essential attribute, imo.
    But now we’re seeing earthy (no typo) spiritual testimonies that would make a Nordic-type blush. Or faint.
    Greybots are dullards, nobody cares what they twink.
    I kind of want to thank you, petra. But I’m not sure what for, because it’s somewhat unsettling. Might scare off some of the space alien readers who give BG kickbacks like rides in their ships and inspirations for awesomeness.
    What's this attachment that I cannot see?
    I got involved in everything not just alien related stuff, I am also paying attention to thinks like Jinn who actually call this place their home too. There's a lot going on and I think these things are all finally starting to be able to communicate with one another
