A former teacher-turned-monk reflects on his life journey, explaining how growing dissatisfaction with conventional work and worldly success led him to enter a contemplative monastery, where he spent 28 years.
Although monastic life appeared austere from the outside, he found it profoundly rewarding, describing an expanding inner life and a freedom from social expectations that brought deep meaning and contentment.
He later left the monastery after feeling spiritually called to do so and now lives a quiet life centered on prayer and meditation. Discussing spiritual guidance, he describes God's voice as a subtle inner prompting rather than an audible sound and stresses the importance of discernment and mentorship.
