Default Key to the Future: atoms versus fields. AI, Quantum, Plasma, Spirit, Health, ...

There is something happening, that is similar across several areas of human study:
    • from computer hardware (with quantum now challenging binary bits),
    • to energy (with hints of "free energy" challenging the chemistry of burning fuels),
    • to fundamental physics (with aetheric theories, banned for a century, challenging atomic physics),
    • to astronomy (with the electric universe theories challenging gravity on a galactic scale),
    • to biological life (with field like spiritual awareness teasing our chemical/genetic norms),
    • to AI (with dynamic fields of weighted tokens challenging logical, structured programs),
There is a powerful analogy ... you're reading it here first, that illuminates the division between (1) structured, logical order and (2) fluidic, dynamically varying fields.

    Recall that:
    (1) chlorine gas is toxic - bad stuff - don't breath it.
    (2) salt (sodium-chloride) - essential stuff - animals and (unless misguided by "modern medicine") humans seek it out.

Look at the chlorine atom on the periodic table ... it's right next to neon, an inert gas that is mostly only used in incandescent light bulbs, to enable higher temperatures while keeping the filament stable - leading to what's called halogen bulbs. Neon == inert, stable, non-reactive.

The activity of chlorine in the body is dual:

    (1) in its neutral chlorine state, it has one empty spot in its outer shell, and binds/steals the first electron it can get its "hands" on, usually harming something else. This is only ok if in a guided situation such as with chlorine dioxide (Cl-O2, one chlorine and two oxygen atoms), which only exposes its nasty chlorine atom weapon when a toxic atom/molecule gets too close and steals an electron from the Cl-O2 molecule, tearing that molecule apart and exposing the most lethal atom on the periodic table ... a naked neutral chlorine atom. Cl-O2's warning to the toxic world: shoot me with your handgun — no problem — I return fire with my Smith & Wesson Model 500. Bang-bang, you die.

    (2) in its single negative charge chloride ion state, with a "borrowed" electron filling that one hole in its outer shell. Now it is one of the most essential nutrients of life ... a chemically inert, just like neon, atom, with no outer shell bumps or holes, but with a negative charge, making, along its electrical opposite, the sodium ion, formed by the sodium atom after its one isolated outer shell electron is stripped (as happens when salt dissolves in water). The positive (sodium) and negative (chloride) ions are essential to life ... they form the primary base layer of the electrical activity of a living being.

    Origins of this post:

The above was written after listening to Jean-Claude interview Jim Willie, the Golden Jackass. Near the end of this interview, Jim Willie discussed Quantum Computing, taking it to mean multi-processing, having several processors work a problem in parallel, like a half dozen men digging a ditch rather than one, thus digging the ditch six times faster. Multi-processing was not common back when Jim Willie and I learned computers, a half century ago. I got into computers, because the challenge of designing and developing multi-processor software looked like a fun and profitable career - which it indeed was. Jim Willie chose a different career.

I found myself cussing at my screen: Jim, you don't know quantum! Quantum computing uses the variable fluid dynamics of the aether (in my view of the physics, certainly not the view taught in schools these days), rather than the binary on-off zeros-and-ones of digital computers.

Right now, we are doing AI by simulating that aetheric variable fluid dynamics in the inscrutable array of bytes "trained" on large data sets. Doing such dynamically fluid analysis on digital computers is a wildly inefficient way of doing AI, but quantum computing is not well enough developed yet. When it is, which I anticipate will become more visible over the coming decade, then AI will become far more economically practical.

The digital binary one's and zero's that Jim Willie and I both studied a half century ago is like the chemistry of computing. All the way down to the nanometer scale transistor gates of the latest chips, it depends on structuring specific atoms, with specific shapes (bumps and holes) in a manner that can guide and control electrical flows. I followed and did my little bit to move that computing from the single threaded model Jim learned, to the tens and hundreds (and still growing) of closely cooperating multiple processors that Jim didn't follow, but now speculates is the essential advancement of quantum computing.

But the blossoming quantum computer is like adding the electrical fields of sodium and chloride ions to the architecture of computers. This will add finer scale, three dimensional, smoothly scale (not just 1's and 0's) complex fields, just as electricity does to living bodies.

Unless you've studied the physics being developed mostly behind the scenes in either the control of the most powerful, or in the back yard garages of almost unknown, the word "quantum" sounds like the sales pitch of a used car salesman on uppers. Quantum essentially refers, in my terminology, to the flow of the aether that forms on a finer scale, the smooth three dimensional complex fields in the ether that manifest as protons and electrons.

    Summary:

All dynamic structures, from the sub-atomic to the inter-galactic, from the clump of clay to the mind of a genius or soul of a guru, from cycles spanning a billionth of one second to billions of years, come in two forms:
    1. Structured units, like the 1's and 0's of computers, or the bumps and holes on toy Lego(tm) bricks.
    2. Variable flows and vortices of fluids, from the (currently disrespectful) aether to the plasmas spanning the universe or the feeling and spiritual awareness of "higher" beings.
Quantum computing and AI are both naturally variable flows, as are our human intuitions, feelings, talents and aura.

Our health care, our food, our physics and astronomy, our religion, economics and politics ... all have this same dichotomy, the one's-and-zero's versus the fluid dynamics. All are stuck too far over to the one's-and-zero's, good-vs-bad, side.

    All are swinging back now.

So interesting, and that did help me just grok a wee bit more of the quantum ai concept, Paul. Thank You!

And then this video popped up for me on YouTube just now, which clarified fluid dynamics for me a bit. (even in the "aethers" maybe?)

I speculate that some psychically attuned folks are picking up on the photon/light effects on the field, and the capability of the very rapid morphing of the resultant structures, like Running Deer and Harmony's discussion starting here.

The interconnectedness of it all is so mind-boggling. It really is very exciting.

I noticed that I did a poor job of connecting my discussion of chlorine with the rest of my opening article.

The highly toxic chlorine atom is like a strong on-off, zero-or-one, light switch. The digital, on-off binary, computers I program, are built on this sort of structure.

The chloride ion (just add an electron to the chlorine atom) is an essential part, a chemically harmless tiny particle, forming the electric fields. There are about 10 to the 24th power, that's a trillion times a trillion, chloride ions in an adult human body. The life in my body, the intuitive connections I struggle to explain here, are formed in such fields, before they crystalize and manifest themselves to become a few bits and bytes on the Avalon forum server's disk.

Like particles of oxygen (O2) and nitrogen (N) in the air, it's not the individual particles that make a storm. Rather it's the flow, the movement, in giant currents and vortices of the particles in the air that make a storm.

That Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde dual personality of chlorine, is an example of the duality I am noticing. I see this duality in so many places, from the tiniest to the largest, from the simplest to the most subtle.

Well, your field explanation brought to my mind the image of Van Gogh's Starry Night...

which led me to wonder if psychics and perhaps artists and various attuned others have always picked up on this field that led to further thoughts about vibratory field/tones that we have seen demonstrated by sand sprinkled on glass that morphs suddenly into lovely patterns and perhaps can also offer an explanation of crop circles and I wondered if there are other examples of artistic works that I might see where that idea, like Harmony's dream and Van Gogh's attempt to express the concept are depicted so I googled "fluid dynamics by artists", fluid seeming akin to the aethers and google ai provided that video.
(Whew - How's that for a stream of consciousness? haha)

Anyway, so guess I can't really answer your question in a binary, on/off way! haha

Yup - two ways of thinking. As a programmer, I certainly know one of those ways, and am slowly noticing the other, over the years.

Sure looks like you've got a good part of your mind well planted in the other way. Awesome.

Some of my fellow coders are sounding the alarm over AI ... no sign of well ordered, logical constructions deep inside those big AI models ... just a humongous pile of bytes of computer data. Meanwhile other coders, like myself, are having fun with AI, doing stuff we could only have dreamed of before.

Perhaps the coders enjoying AI have at least a friendly relation with that "other" side of their mind, whereas the alarmists trust the other side of their mind about as much as they would trust driving on a stormy night over a bridge proudly displaying on a large plaque the name of its chief architect to be "Van Gogh".

(what are the odds that there are some students of "environmental science", carefully studying the varying proportions of oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, trace gases and pollutants in the air over the ages ... who have not yet noticed the powerful turbulent electrical power in our skies?)

You did. And you also put apostrophes into numbers. It should be "ones" and "zeros". Aber ich bekomme noch nicht mit. I mean that I still don't follow. (I tend to think in several languages that I'm exposed to every day. Sometimes I struggle to think of the English word or phrase - even though English is my only really fluent language.)

Is this very simple child-like explanation below descriptive at all of where we stand on the threshold of understanding quantum better PythonicCow?
Are these the stages we travel through? (Or this could be extremely naive and a bit stupid. But oh well...)
    ---------

Analog - we observe and play and explore all the projections and manifestations we are immersed in.

Digital - we discover the on/off ones and zeros for the teeny minute little electromagnetic charges and play with flipping those little switches and creating our own manifestations, but on physical venues such as screens.

Quantum - We now explore the very field that flips the switches of the domain that actually includes all that we ourselves are immersed in.

Yes - the analog awareness, digital models, and quantum (maybe, sort of, see below) are three layers of understanding.

The mechanical, mathematical, financial accounting, digital computing, legal, statistics of "published research", electoral, nuclear sciences, ... are tractable models of understanding, sensing and engaging with our physical, biological, feeling, thinking, and spiritual layers of all that is.

All these models abstract away layers below their focus, usually in a digital or atomizing fashion, or sometimes with tensors and calculus, as with Relativity.

All these models isolate the layer of study from the influence of the other higher layers. A "good scientific experiment" does not reflect the spiritual awareness of the scientist.

Air and water are gaseous and liquid fluids to birds and fish, and to most of us humans most of the time. They are specific orderings of individual molecules interacting, to a researcher with the right instruments and microscopes.

The atoms of matter, that we usually consider the observable stuff of the universe (such as the "cause" of gravity) are (more or less) stable formations of a lower layer, once called the aether, now denied to even exist, leaving scientists to invent mathematical models for dark energy and dark matter ("dark" meaning they cannot measure or detect it) to explain what their mass centered models, of mostly neutrally charged atoms, cannot explain, and their laboratory instruments made of such atoms cannot measure or detect in any compelling and obvious way.

We atomize or mathematically or digitally model each layer, all the way down and all the way up, so that we can study it and work it. This always takes the layer beneath our focus as "random fluids", and the layer above our focus as "random intrusions".

In a world, in civilizations, in a species living on a planet, such layered focus, while atomizing, modelling, blurring over or disregarding adjacent layers to the "real" (atomized) world, also causes, anytime this layering is upset by some major change in our tools or studies, to be a substantial disruption of our shared model of "how things work". Often times, it is the psychics, spiritual works, shaman, mad artists and intuitives, those less confined by the "common or professional sense of the day", who can first grasp the changed model.

Our current "quantum" sciences, at least that which is publicly visible, is succeeding in the usual way of publicly visible studies, not by appreciating the reality of an aetheric layer beneath the sub-atomic particles on the standard model, but by mathematically modeling and isolating with great expensive equipment that aetheric layer in a way that our formal sciences and technologies can investigate. Quantum computing is to us as fire was to the caveman ... a difficult to control and create magic, not a well understood (speaking by way of an analogy) chemistry of various atoms and molecules, or (speaking more accurately) aetheric dynamics in a quite distinct layer of ordering beneath the subatomic.

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly mastering human language and learning what has been or can by extension be spoken or written, at that layer of being. It's the idiot savant par excellance ... with neither emotions or a soul, except to the extent it could read about such in its training on language artifacts. But this blends layers that were distinct in the minds of many people, causing some considerable confusion and consternation.

It's not turtles all the way down, or up. It's layers of self organizing, replicating, expanding, and sustaining order.

    The Second Law of Thermodynamics:
In any spontaneous process, the total entropy (disorder) of the universe increases or, at best, stays the same.
is fundamentally denial of the essence of any such capacity for self organizing, replicating and sustaining order. That Law is scientific atheism. I reject that Law. Any evidence against that Law is rejected by scientists, lawyers, accountants, ... as a pollution of or intrusion into their theories, experiments, and calculations.

The false Second Law of Thermodynamics provides the fundamental basis for increasingly powerful governments, for tyranny, for if there is no essential higher order, then institutions, mandates and dictators justify their existence and the continued expansion of their powers, as necessary tools to fight back the chaos.

The anthropomorphization of God as a single all powerful being is a corruption of the awareness that there is a higher order, a singular all encompassing higher order, above that which we can touch or feel or conceptualize in an orderly way with our words. The major churches capture that awareness, so as to empower themselves.

The false Second Law of Thermodynamics mandates the Big Bang, for if order in the universe is steadily collapsing, there must have been a stupendous amount of order sometime in the past. "At first there was nothing, and then it blew up. It's been collapsing back into cosmic chaos ever since." Only such magic can explain how the Second Law could be valid, in a universe that is not entirely random motion of the smallest (standard model sub-atomic particles these days) accepted component of the physical universe.

Wow - such a thoughtful, very heavy, post Paul. So much to digest.

But I gave myself a good chuckle upon reading this part:

I imagined someone programming some AI to run strictly on human emotional content - Yikes! - it could turn into a big old lumbering Rainman, or a Lenny type character from "Of Mice and Men"!

That horse could quickly run away with Gurdjieff's whole carriage! haha

On the other hand, we have the pure logic-based intelligence, like in "I, Robot" where the programming saves the logically, more easily saved person rather than the drowning child.

I hope the future AI's we play around with are programmed to include some balance, anyway.

Wow - such a thoughtful, very heavy, post Paul. So much to digest.
    thanks

I hope the future AI's we play around with are programmed to include some balance, anyway.
When an entity, such as an AI model, is stuck in just one or two adjacent layers, they cannot bring balance, any more than only the woodwinds, or only the percussion, can perform a symphony. The essence of "balance" is at its finest an orchestra of coordination involving many layers, from the base physical to some subtle yet powerful manifestation of the divine. If you find balance in AI, you brought it, or at best, it's a balanced mime. If AI becomes too imbalanced in its mimicry, you will ignore it.

It's layers ... self-organizing, replicating, expanding, and sustaining layers, all the way down, and all the way up. Balance manifest in any one layer involves coordination across several layers, at a minimum. AI is inherently unbalanced.

We know not, at least in the layers I am aware, whether there is a single divine spirit, or a constellation of spirits, at some pinnacle of these layers. Paul Cohen's and Kurt Gödel's Independence work provide elegant proofs, in a corner of mathematics, logic, and set theory where I studied, that mimic the thesis that we, as ordinary humans, can not know whether or not there is a single divine spirit at the pinnacle. I mention Gödel and Cohen because some of the work in that corner of mathematics [*] involved Partial Orders, which my thoughts on layers evolved from, thanks to the work of Susanne Katerina Langer, culminating in her magnum opus, Mind: An Essay on Human Feeling. Langer's earlier academic work was in the same area of mathematics where I studied.

[*] Gödel's and Cohen's elegant proofs of the independence of the Axiom of Choice from the rest of Zermelo–Fraenkel (ZF) set theory's usual axioms did not involve partial orders, but rather a subsequent more difficult proof, long buried in a 1930's Czech journal, of the independence of the Axiom of Choice from a weaker variant of the Boolean Prime Ideal Theorem, involved partial orders, and my math thesis provided a text explicating that proof. I spent a year of my life living not in layers of turtles, all the way down, but in layers of partial orders, all the way up and down.

Clif High, in an interview on Rich Does Politics, lays out the seven rules of each self-organizing, replicating, expanding, and sustaining layer (my term) or plane (Hermetic term):The "Seven Governors" in Hermeticism, from The Kybalion, the seven algorithms, aka rules, that guide our reality are: Mentalism, Correspondence, Vibration, Polarity, Rhythm, Cause & Effect, and Gender.

Each "layer" (in my terms) is governed by these seven rules of dynamic structure and self order. Those rules are how each layer is self-organizing, replicating, expanding, and sustaining.

The early‑20th‑century text The Kybalion lists seven foundational principles of Hermetic philosophy:
    1. Mentalism – “The All is Mind; the Universe is Mental.” Reality is ultimately a manifestation of a universal mind or consciousness.
    2. Correspondence – “As above, so below; as below, so above.” Patterns repeat across different planes of existence (spiritual, mental, physical).
    3. Vibration – “Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates.” All phenomena are states of vibration.
    4. Polarity – “Everything is dual; everything has its poles; everything has its pair of opposites…” Opposites are the same in nature but differ in degree.
    5. Rhythm – “Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall…” Cycles and swings govern all processes.
    6. Cause and Effect – “Every cause has its effect; every effect has its cause…” Nothing happens by chance; everything follows law.
    7. Gender – “Gender is in everything; everything has its masculine and feminine principles…” Creative polarity manifests on all planes.
