One of the 27 Club. A real talented lady.

Last year, a man I knew as a friend at the bar, died from alcohol poisoning. I had never seen him get ripped, and so that news shook me. A tribute thing took over the bar the night I learned, all the kareoke for that night, so many folks were mourning him. Sad thing, like with Amy, both amazing people.

    OPUS Live Is Life 1985

    02.09.2024 quote:

And even if Opus is considered more of a one-hit wonder on the international pop stage today, the record of this hit is still impressive:

The most streamed version of the song currently has over 245 million hits on Spotify, while on YouTube the most popular versions of the song are played up to 3 million times a day in total.

Almost 700,000 videos with the three most popular versions are stored on the TikTok platform, and an average of 700 radio plays per day are also recorded worldwide.

Best played loud. Mark Knopffler is amazing, as usual, but the drummer just knocks it out of the park . . .

I found a song I used to love. It was bugging me... what's that band called? What's the song called? I heard them at a festival in 2015 I was playing at with my band, a really small festival. The bands that played were friends of friends, and likewise the DJs. The DJs were awesome though, top notch London fluffy scene resident DJs. But the live bands were hit and miss.

But this band stopped me walking across the field to go to the toilet. I was transfixed, what was this sound? I really needed to go to the loo but had to stop and listen. Afterwards, and before I went to the loo, I told the lead singer I thought his band was most excellent and bought a CD for £5. They're called The Speak and I found a digital copy of it just now. They're an undiscovered treasure from Brighton because of course they're from Brighton. Reading their page on Bandcamp I just learned the lead singer is Maurice BeeGees son but that's not why I liked them or even knew about that. No, they won a battle for my attention vs my bladder.

It's a great song and a really good band imo

Most people are not into gospel music, but if you feel as I do that the human voice is the most beautiful instrument on the planet, then I believe you will thoroughly enjoy this piece of music.

My aunt moved from Europe to the US to live the American dream.
    After retirement she moved back.
She wrote a book called The American Dream and the American Nightmare.
This is for the 250th anniversary of a, I would say, a very schizophrenic nation.

    Into the river below
    I'm running from the inferno
    They'll think I'm insane
But you'll all know my name
    Into the river below
    I'm running from the inferno

Desert Rose is a song by Sting and Cheb Mami that was released in 2000. The second video is a short explanation of its creation. The third video is a cute story told by Patrick Stewart about meeting Sting.

    Google AI
Quote Sting got his famous moniker because he used to wear a black-and-yellow striped sweater. When he was around 18 and playing with a jazz band called the Phoenix Jazzmen, a bandmate and trombone player named Gordon Solomon joked that the striped top made him look like a bee or a wasp. The nickname quickly stuck.
