Ex-NASA scientist Peter Kalmus goes scorched earth on the current administration.

Quote We continue to follow the impact of the Trump administration’s ongoing assault on scientific research in the United States with an update from climate scientist Peter Kalmus, who says he has been forced to resign from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) after 15 years at his “dream job.” In an immense loss to the government’s capacity to monitor and assess atmospheric conditions, the JPL has lost about 30% of its staff since President Trump took office for the second time, says Kalmus, who warns that the dismantling of federally funded scientific infrastructure comes as rising global temperatures put the Earth in “extreme danger.”

Common wisdom would say NO, based on the question mark in the subtitle.

This vid helps, imo, to make some sense of smart sounding music nerds, and of nerds in general.

Led Zeppelin has lifted/borrowed/stole music from other artists. I heard that all songs are spells and according to Preston Nichols thought forms are put into music and movies.

The Music of Time by Preston B. Nichols with Peter Moon
Quote P49. He explained how to put thought forms in music.

P56. Our reality is actually a group of frequencies or an ensemble of notes.

P57. A thought form is a group of interrelated frequencies, amplitude, phase and every other aspect one can measure. During the Los Angeles riots black helicopters transmitted frequencies that induced peaceful behavior in crowds.

Quote Led Zeppelin are infamous for the amount of lyrics, melodies and riffs that they "borrowed" from the blues and rock artists who came before them. Of course, it is fine to be inspired and influenced by great artists and songs but, if you're going to take somebody else's work and use it as the foundation of your new song, at least consider paying them some royalties or credit!
Their most famous song Stairway to Heaven is one of those examples.

    03/06/19 (2:35)

Quote Music group Spirit has filed a lawsuit against Led Zeppelin, claiming the intro to Stairway to Heaven was copied from their song Taurus.

For the most part Robert Plant even said that it wouldn't become an issue unless Led Zeppelin was indeed successful and they also paid out every time they lost.

But in keeping with this I am constantly amazed at bands that solely do cover songs or band tributes instead of being original. I really mean the bands getting monetary compensation particularly. I sort of get the challenge of some of the songs. [I am learning Bass myself] but I think if I ever 'get good' I may be interested in playing something more original even though learning some of the other songs is cool or doing a nice cover might be worth the effort as a sign of respect for the owner. [Kind of like Superstar original by the Carpenters - covered very nicely by Sonic Youth - which is funny to me because its the only song from Sonic Youth that I actually like. Their original stuff is just not my speed.]

But the game is the game and plenty of old hat resurface at some point. Other forms of entertainment often recycle old ideas and try a modern twist. With the volume of content, it does seem difficult to be original. [And we're talking about music from 5o years ago - being possibly difficult to be original, compare that to to-day!]

I'm not a big fan of Five Finger Death Punch, but they have three cover songs that are awesome.

Daytime Moon Meets Evening Star by Debra Ceravolo

Venus is now appearing on the celestial stage as Earth's brilliant evening star, performing with the Moon, other wandering planets, and bright stars in western skies. For evening sky gazers on June 17, the celestial beacon rose after sunset close by a young, slender, crescent Moon. But from some locations the Moon could be seen to occult or pass in front of Venus. And from a backyard observatory in southern British Columbia, Canada, the lunar occultation was played out in daylight. This stunning telescopic snapshot captured a scene in dramatically cloudy skies, following Venus' hour long disappearance, as the evening star emerged beyond the bright lunar limb.

Former UAP Task Force Member Claims She May Have Encountered Two ‘Extraterrestrials’ in Public

The Capitol Hill UFO briefing last week made headlines, but Joshua Golembeske says the most jaw-dropping moment never made it to air.

Golembeske, lead UFO investigator and head of content at Gaia.com and host of Cosmic Disclosure, was in the room for the press event featuring whistleblower David Grusch and four sitting lawmakers. I reached out to get his account of what actually happened — and what he described goes well past anything the news cycle covered.

“I spoke directly with a former member of the UAP Task Force who told me something wild,” he told VICE. “She believes she may have encountered two extraterrestrials in public. They were humanoid enough to blend in, wore disguises, but when they revealed their eyes, something was clearly off.” He went on: “She confirmed the story through her own contacts — there are NHI living in certain locations in the US, human enough to walk around undetected. I need more evidence before I’d call it confirmed truth, but it’s a stunning development.”

That was off-camera. On-camera, the energy in the room was, by Golembeske’s account, dead serious across the board. “Whistleblowers are being threatened. Scientists connected to legacy UAP programs are vanishing — General McCasland among them. And unnamed officials are actively trying to get President Trump to shut disclosure down,” he said. “In my opinion, this is the biggest story in human history.”

Grusch, the intelligence officer whose 2023 congressional testimony cracked open the mainstream conversation around UAP retrieval programs, was a central figure at the briefing. Golembeske didn’t hedge on his assessment. “This is a man whose job was to hand the President the daily intelligence briefings. His claims have been corroborated by multiple other whistleblowers, both publicly and behind the scenes. Whatever you think about the subject matter, David Grusch is an American hero trying to do the right thing at serious personal cost.”

When Grusch was asked in 2023 whether the US had made contact with non-human intelligence, he said he couldn’t answer in a public setting — only in a SCIF. Congress was then denied access to that SCIF. “If the answer were simply ‘no,’ he would have said no on the spot,” Golembeske said. “He didn’t.”

The language coming out of these briefings has shifted. Terms like “non-human intelligence” and “sentient plasmoid life” are now entering the congressional record alongside “bipedal type life,” and Golembeske says that distinction is deliberate. “We’re not just dealing with little green men from another planet. There are likely multiple distinct phenomena happening simultaneously.”

As for physical evidence, he didn’t equivocate. “One hundred percent. I believe we have both craft and bodies in our possession.” He named specific sites — Wright-Patterson in Ohio, S-4 at Papoose Lake, where Bob Lazar claimed to have worked on reverse-engineering nine non-human craft in the late ’80s, Dugway Proving Ground in Utah, and Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland. He also pointed to private industry.

“George Knapp testified before Congress that Bigelow Aerospace actually negotiated a deal with Lockheed Martin to acquire unusual material — described as ‘not made here’ — stored at a classified facility in California. The major defense contractors have stayed completely silent on these claims. That silence is its own kind of answer.”

    SPACE STATION SOLAR TRANSIT

For years, amateur astronomers have routinely photographed transits of the International Space Station (ISS) across the face of the sun. This picture looks like a typical example--except for one thing. It's not the ISS.

“This is China's Tiangong space station," says astrophotographer Anthony Ayiomamitis, who recorded the split-second transit over Athens, Greece, on June 15th.

    www.spaceweather.com

The name Tiangong means "Heavenly Palace." It is currently occupied by three Chinese astronauts.

China started building their own space station in 2021 with the launch of Tiangong's core module. Subsequent launches have expanded the orbiting outpost; now it has a mass of about 70 tons and roughly 340 cubic meters of pressurized volume. It's still quite a bit smaller than the ISS (420 tons and 1,000 cubic meters), but considering that China's space station is only 5 years old vs. almost 3 decades for the ISS ...

    The Alien-Human Hybrid Program

For decades, abductees have reported a chilling pattern: the same families targeted across generations. Richard's guest, Les Velez of the Alien Abduction Response Team explores claims of a secret alien-human hybrid program, missing pregnancies, and bloodlines seemingly tracked for decades.

Mr Velez of the Alien Abduction Response Team, describes a facility in Nevada where alien-hybrids are trained to fit in with society, and talks about meeting a woman that he believes was, in fact, a hybrid. The pair go on to explore claims of missing pregnancies and bloodlines seemingly tracked for decades.

A BIG ASTEROID IS ABOUT TO FLY PAST EARTH

It is often said that Earth is in a shooting gallery. This weekend, amateur astronomers can watch one of the bullets streak by.

On June 27th, near-Earth asteroid 152637 (1997 NC1) will fly past Earth at a distance of 2.6 million kilometers. There's no danger of a strike, but the flyby is significant anyway. This is a large, kilometer-class asteroid (between 0.7 and 1.6 km across) making its closest approach in more than 400 years.

And it will be visible in backyard telescopes. Six-inch optics are enough to see it. The asteroid will brighten to 10th magnitude as it races through the constellation Ophiuchus not far from red giant Antares. At closest approach, the speedy space rock will move so quickly that observers can watch it drift against the background stars in only a few minutes.

The flyby is unusually close for an object so large: The last encounter closer than this by a kilometer-class asteroid was in January 2022 by 1994 PC1. Statistically speaking, it is a once-in-a-decade event.

If 1997 NC1 struck Earth, it would blast a crater ~10 km wide and loft enough dust to alter global climate for years. There is, however, no danger of a collision for at least a century.

Want to take a look? Go outside around midnight and point your optics south:

Man Driving a Banana Pulled Over

You might want to keep your eyes peeled for this, lest it give you the slip

There are many reasons drivers get pulled over. Speeding? Happens all the time. Running a red light? That’s not legal! Tinted windows? What exactly are you trying to hide, sir or madam? However, a gentleman in Montana who recently got pulled over made a scene without even trying to – mainly because he was driving a giant banana. Which is at least a healthier option to pull over than the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile.

There’s a whole bunch of things we can say about this.

Steve Braithwaite owns a Ford F-150. Or rather used to, as he converted his 1993 F-150 into a 23-foot-long fiberglass banana, starting in 2008 and finishing in 2011. Why? Well, the current self-named tour his vehicle is on is called “The World Needs More Whimsy,” and there’s not much more whimsical than a gigantic banana passing you on the highway. In fact, the only way you could hate it is if you’re not a fan of potassium or you’re more of an apple person. Or perhaps a Montana state trooper.

So why was he pulled over in Montana, other than driving a car that looked a little (okay, a lot) fruity? Cops had a legitimate reason, they say. Apparently his license plate was being blocked by two boxes, which isn’t particularly legal. What did his license plate, which the cops couldn’t read, say? “SPLIT,” because of course it did.

“I see the officer go any other way, and he looped around, and he actually had a legitimate reason for pulling me over,” Braithwaite said. “It was a fair complaint, but we had a good chat.”

After a word with the officers, they let him go without a ticket.

    ”SLAVA BANANA”

I’m remembering Masha, who used to say that. I hope she is well, or at least passed peacefully*.

    * Paging Bill for any info/status abt her.

Some weeks back, out smoking between pool games, I asked 2 dudes what language they were speaking. “Ukrainian”.

First thing I thought to say, and one the guys got real offended. I tried to get some words in edgewise about Masha and her POV, but he just stormed off.

In more recent weeks, again there out on a fresh air and star gazing break, I happened to ask the same question to the same two dudes. Hadn’t remembered them. Very quickly I went to the offended guy and said sorry for before. Made a world of difference for him, I saw afterwords when we were all inside playing our tables.

Haha, love his attitude, “The World Needs More Whimsy”.
