There are many groups in the US that can be classified as cults. Homophobia and Islamophobia are rife in the US, and often backed by some kind of religious views that many would regard as 'worrying', and we are living in an age of influencers and worship of wealth and displays of wealth, etc. so,, although I personally am far more suspicious of Gabbard than most here, I find this manufactured outrage or whatever it is hypocritical and distasteful considering her husband has a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Rather than an empty shell, she may very well be an ambitious politician who is hedging her bets. She has handed Fauci to Trump on a plate for him to attack and insult and threaten, which he loves to do. He is the victim who is saving the world from all the bad guys! Her attack on Fauci frames him as the sole bad guy, and completely ignores the fact that Trump was president while the gain of function research was being done in labs in Ukraine. Which version of the truth does she actually believe? Perhaps she is simply someone who is a devoted follower of a guru and once she joined with Trump, he became her guru. A brainwashed devotee or a political player hedging her bets? I am not aware of any stories of her doing anything bad while she was serving in public office in Hawaii. And if she is not suitable for public office because of her homophobia and Islamophobia, then the majority of politicians and those holding public office are probably not suitable because of some belief or devotion to a cause!

In a way I am glad that Tulsi might have had a spiritual guru in her background. It probably developed her character and morality. That doesn't mean that she still needs him, or that she is under his spell. I think she is still in a great position to be the running mate of some future president of the United States.
