Her close friend "Majdeh Mohammadi" visited her home
Only to be shocked by a simple "carpet" rug and a few woolen cushions and a kitchen at the entrance and two small rooms
With an area of about 80 square meters!!!
Her mother, her father... and everyone talks and reports on the simplicity and humility of living
No global brands or Chanel bags for $4,000 or diamond-encrusted watches
No convoys and personal security wearing suits and running behind her and in front of her

This woman's name is Zahra Hadad-Adel, and she died with her father-in-law, the previous Ayatollah. I am surprised the above post doesn't mention that fact. The current Ayatollah, her husband, did not even attend her funeral.

The story was about her modesty in life not about her martyrdom. That was the point of the story, how she lived her life.

The body of the martyr Khamenei is currently being transported to Iraq, and two separate funeral ceremonies will be held in the cities of Karbala and Najaf tomorrow.

The graves of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his martyred family members have now been opened to the public, inside the Imam Reza Shrine complex in Mashhad, where he was buried yesterday following his funeral prayers.

The shrine itself is one of the most important religious sites in Shia Islam — roughly comparable in significance to a major cathedral or basilica in Christianity.

It houses the tomb of Ali al-Ridha (Imam Reza), the eighth Imam of Twelver Shia Islam and a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad, venerated for his piety and scholarship. Nearly 30 million pilgrims visit the shrine each year, making it the most-visited religious site in the Islamic world.

Over the centuries the complex has grown to include mosques, museums, a library, and a university.

Khamenei's burial there places him among a long line of historically significant figures interred at the site.

Bill - The video I posted earlier in this thread seemed well rounded, and in particular it showed the contrast between the rural and urban lifestyles there. It helped me understand the ongoing transition happening in Iran, just like in many other countries. Both tradition and modernization have their good points, and I can empathize with the wish to achieve a blending of both in a culture.
