Here’s a view to what has been called The Greatest Show on Earth, 2026 edition.

I attended in the eighties, slept in my little tent under a wing of our plane, saw so much in most of two days. This festival runs for a week. Someone died while I was there, sounded like a distracted too-slow thing. “Stall spin”. Not a problem for recovering up high, well above pattern altitude, but yeah it happens too often.

Stream started Friday, will end Sunday. Other livestream slots will follow.

This ATC audio shows that what plane-tuber Dan Gryder says about flying into AirVenture is true: “Dangerous, because ATC tries to fly your plane”. People have gotten themselves killed every recent year trying to comply, when legally they are their own boss. Could just say “Unable”.

Dan advises landing and parking at one of the nearby airports, and taking a cab in.


I have a bit of experience with flying, as a licensed private pilot. I recommend it, even the training for the ticket.

Hey there Johnny! I wish more people were interested in flying...

I have always wanted to learn to fly.. And more recently almost pursued it, until I learned there were a lot of youth who were interested, and I quietly stopped the process... (Hoping one of them would get the spot, and go on to do something in the industry as a result of the opportunity.. ) The opportunity for me, while available at the time, has passed, the plane is in another state... And hopefully in the air a lot more often than it has been in recent years... So that is a good thing...

It must have been a thrill to go to one of these... So many planes, so many stories... Thank you for sharing this link!!! And that's good advice to just park and ride, but that also takes away from the whole "Looking at the planes that fly in" part of the gathering... What a bummer it has had to come to that as that is part of the fun of such things!

PS that navy plane? Insane the way it flipped nose with tail in it's own footprint! That's a huge bird to do that! Wish I was there hahaha

Haven’t watched this yet, nor the Monday comp now added to post #1. Did catch the Monday opening colourful Viper start. Felt like opening a Christmas present, and now I’m thinking of saving the series for Christmas Eve, for after listening to the radio play The Shepherd (Airplane related, written by Frederick Forsyth, and broadcast every year by CBC. Alan Maitland, RIP. Have heard Frederick’s own recording of it too, and iirc I liked that even more.).

Hi Denise. I love your enthusiasm, and that you sacrificed your own goal to benefit the younger other applicants. Guessing that was some kind of paid training slot or program. Good for you. ♥️

Didn’t catch that plane you mentioned. That stream has gone now, I replaced it in post #1 with a best-of-Monday comp by another chan that will stay up.

Juan B. is at the show, living strong like always. He hasn’t had his fam on his vids for a while. The kids I understand, they are aging into more self awareness re da wurld. I hope all is fine for his sweet missus too. Do you still keep in contact?

Wishing you light and love in your days. Maybe JB can take you up on an Oroville update flight (any airplane, but the Husky would be nice), and we get to see you! ~8)

Johnny A fellow aviation fan! nice avatar too! We have a lot of both!! We have a single kitten among many adult cats and kitten thought it was a great idea to get inside the fuselage of the DC3 I'm building...Which is fine but its wood didn't want him to panic and tear it up. He didn't and i just got him out thankfully, lol

What a cluster flying into that place must be! No thank you. Would have been awesome in the 80's (like we think of a lot of stuff).

Hey There Johnny! Long time... (giggle)...

The guys at the airport offer a grant annually, and at the time I had 2 pilots in the family, and one of them owned a plane and was very good friends with Juan. So them just knowing my may have helped my place in line, and I saw the others wanting to do it too, and decided to politely not follow through.. So yes, it was an amazing opportunity... Those guys LOVE flying... and their joy for it shines through when you go to the airport.. There is just something amazing about leaving the ground...

He also has a following of youth and a lot of ladies who are pursuing flight as a result of excitement he has stirred up at the airport... And dad gave his Mooney to my brother in law, as he decided he wasn't going to fly anymore... and truth be told, I don't have much free time, and as such, it wasn't fair to those who dream of it as a lifestyle... And it is so cool to see the kids line up to get involved...

Well, they lived a few houses down from the folks, but they recently moved, closer to the airport... The missus is as sweet as they come... She volunteers a LOT for the kids, and has an amazing heart... So I am sure she is just as busy as he is... They're just amazing in general...

I put dibs on a flight in the Husky right after he got it, (when I was at the airport going for a flight in Harvey...) Juan is very generous with his time and the community... He really is.. I hadn't realized he got that plane from Bart at that time and my jaw dropped when I saw it.. (The Husky)... And the new Red Hotrod? Well, EVERYONE gets to see that.. He is constantly flying it over town.. It's so cool to see him up there in his element...

If you go to the airport when he is there? There is a line of people waiting to go for flights.. It is great to see... And one of these days if I can catch him, without a line of fans waiting for a flight? Perhaps I will ask... I did put my name on the list awhile back but didn't stay long enough to go up.

We are fortunate to live in a small community that really gets involved with positive things... I wish there were more people out there like Juan and Jenny... They're amazing.

I will hafta update my profile image soon... We aren't getting any younger hahaha... I just realized it has been 7 or 8 years since Laughlin!
