Ukrainian mainstream government SIS/CIA approved cut-outs and western media partners repetitively projects what they do on to Russia; it's a transparent pattern. It's a desperate attempt to legitimise their own actions, and it's lame.

One example, of a great many, all recorded in the ongoing library directories and sub-directories, for the historical record as I document this conflict, a reminder from AMK Mapping (via X), one of the more objective and non-hysterical recorders (he's very good), showing precisely the types of facilities the Russians are targeting (remember HUMINT, and ISR canopy intel gathering is very accurate on the Russians part):

In a recent image posted by the National Police of Ukraine showing the aftermath of Russian Geran-2 drone strikes on "civilian infrastructure" in Sumy, a pile of boxes is visible in the background, with the logo of the "VYRIY" military tech company on them.

"VYRIY" specialises in the production of FPV drones, fixed-wing drones, ground robotic complexes, and other components and control systems for FPV drones, supplying to over 200 units of the Ukrainian military.

The post was then hastily deleted by the National Police of Ukraine after they realised what was showing.

The US has warned that Russia and China are racing to build hypersonic missiles. The report cites that China could have 4,000 hypersonic missiles by 2035 while Russia will have 1,000 hypersonic weapons. The assessment comes after the Iran War where hypersonic and ballistic missiles have been used to devastating effect. Russian President Vladimir Putin is personally overseeing Russia's hypersonic program which includes the Kinzhal and the Avangard missiles. Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered more manufacturing of the DF-17 and the DF-26 hypersonic missiles. I recently spoke to someone currently living in Slovyansk, Donetsk Oblast, who was willing to give a quote about their recent experiences in the city, as advancing Russian forces close in from the east:

"I've lived in Slovyansk my whole life and want to share my impressions of the city.

Currently, the outskirts of Slovyansk are only about 6 kilometers from the "gray zone"—a very short distance. The city center is approximately 14 kilometers from the front line. According to monitoring sources (including AMK Mapping), the Russian army has closed in very close, and fighting for neighboring Nikolaevka [Mykolaivka] is likely to begin in the coming months.

As of July, approximately 33,000 people remain in Slovyansk, including approximately 2,000 children. By comparison, last year the population was approximately 55,000, and before the outbreak of full-scale war, over 100,000 people lived here.

Unfortunately, the city is under daily shelling. It is being hit by Gerbera drones and aerial bombs. FPV drone attacks have recently become significantly more frequent: about ten images of equipment being struck right within the city limits have already been recorded. This indicates that the city is increasingly coming under direct fire. If Nikolaevka is occupied, Slovyansk will likely suffer the same fate.

Nevertheless, the city continues to thrive. Shops, supermarkets, pharmacies, cafes, restaurants, flower shops, and even a spa are still open. Public utilities continue to operate daily. Moreover, a youth soccer team trains in Slovyansk—the boys go out for practice every day.

The situation remains extremely dangerous. Last week, four strikes on gas stations were recorded. The city is being systematically attacked with FAB-250, FAB-500, and FAB-1500 aerial bombs. Thankfully, there have been no FAB-3000 strikes yet, although such a threat was actively discussed in local chats.

A week ago, an attack was very close—three FAB-250s fell just 150 meters from me. Luckily, it wasn't an FAB-500, but the blast wave still blew out the windows in the house.

I plan to evacuate within the next month. Forced evacuations are already underway in some areas of the city: families with children are being ordered to leave the areas closest to Nikolaevka and Rai-Aleksandrovka [Rai-Oleksandrivka].

Before leaving, I took a few photos of Slovyansk as a souvenir and want to share them with you."

According to orbit tracking services, Russian "Kosmos" series spacecraft (2609-2614) have altered their trajectories and moved into the same plane as Finnish ICEYE satellites, which are used for radar imaging.

It is reported that such maneuvers may allow for the tracking of satellites and potentially their disruption, including through the use of electronic warfare means.

The fall of Kostyantynivka is one of the most significant military developments of the past few weeks in the war in Ukraine — but you would hardly know it if you only followed Western news media. While Russian troops have brought the strategically important city in the Donbas completely under control, large-scale coverage in Europe and the United States was conspicuously absent. What happened behind the scenes subsequently borders on the absurd.

• A silent conquest in the heart of the Donbas

Kostyantynivka was for a long time one of the key cities in the Ukrainian defense line in the Donbas. The city has strategic value due to its location: it serves as a hub for supply routes and forms a link between multiple front lines. Journalists such as Harald Doornbos pointed out the importance of this development early on . According to him, the Russian conquest of the city attracted hardly any attention in Western newsrooms, while the consequences for the region are significant.

• Zelensky's PR machine is running at full speed.

As soon as it became clear that Kostyantynivka had been lost, a striking counter-action was launched from Kyiv. A group of Ukrainian soldiers was sent into the city with the sole instruction: to pose with Ukrainian flags for the camera. The images were then to be passed on to major Western media companies such as CNN, The New York Times, and the BBC, with the implicit message: look, the city is still ours.

The plan was not without logic. If the images were widely published, it would effectively contradict the narrative that Russia had captured the city — regardless of what was actually happening on the ground. Journalist Rick Sanchez of The Sanchez Effect brought the story to light and analyzed how this type of information operation works in modern warfare.

• Failed photo shoot ends in captivity

However, the plan went completely awry. Before the soldiers could even transmit the images, they were intercepted and captured by Russian troops. The Ukrainian flags were taken from their hands. What followed was a classic example of how quickly a PR operation can turn sour: the soldiers were photographed holding Russian flags. According to Sanchez, the captured soldiers subsequently stated that they had been treated with respect and kindness by the Russian troops to whom they had surrendered.
The images speak volumes about how the information war surrounding the fall of Kostyantynivka was waged.

• Western media look the other way

What makes this incident all the more remarkable is the silence surrounding it in mainstream media. Major news channels and newspapers that normally downplay or simply ignore every Ukrainian loss failed to report on this time as well. That pattern has become so recognizable that it can hardly be dismissed as a coincidence.

Anyone who critically follows the reporting on the war in Ukraine has long noticed that losses on the Ukrainian side remain systematically underreported, while smaller successes are widely publicized. The result is a public that gets a distorted picture of how the war is really unfolding — not through outright lies, but through selective attention and turning a blind eye.

• What the conquest means for the front

The strategic consequences of the fall of Kostyantynivka are significant. Russia has indicated that it intends to push forward from this position towards neighboring cities in the region. If successful, a substantial part of the Donbas will fall even further under Russian control. For Ukraine, the loss means a gap in the defensive line that will be difficult to close without substantial reinforcements.

• Information warfare as a second front

The fall of Kostyantynivka illustrates how modern warfare is fought on two fronts simultaneously: on the battlefield and in public perception. Governments, media companies, and PR teams collaborate—consciously or unconsciously—on a version of reality that serves political and military goals. Independent journalists who expose this construct are rarely thanked for it. Yet their work is indispensable for anyone who wants to understand what is really going on in the Donbas.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told his US counterpart Marco Rubio that continued Western weapons supplies to Ukraine are "unacceptable" to Moscow.

The two met in Manila, where the Philippines is hosting a summit of the ASEAN bloc and its partners.

The meeting, the first since last September, ran for around 37 minutes and also covered the state of bilateral diplomatic ties between Moscow and Washington, according to Russian state media Tass.

Most of the talks centered on a settlement of the war in Ukraine, now in its fifth year since Russia launched its "special military operation" in February 2022.
