    PRAXIS:

Let say 100 asteroids are on the way to bombardier Earth, and the only 3 country capable to destroy them are U.S,China and Russia and there is only 1 chance to hit them all at the same time...

Well ...most Chinese and Russians can English, can U:S Chinese and Russian? NEVER!

Only the A.I from each country could (theoretic) the 3 languages.

But then, they need to start the countdown ALL 3 together...Exactly!

The counting to 100 test proves unequivocally that "Artificial Intelligence" is a myth. Left to fend for themselves, it all falls apart. It's all about the prompt - the instructions you give them, what you tell them to do (and not do). He proves that at the 14-minute mark when he tells them not to include filler - just count. Then, finally, they start to count. It's a fairly torturous process from start to finish, but no one said AI (or more accurately LLMs - large language models) are in their final form. I'd like to see this test repeated in a couple of years' time.

Not sure about this. Emerging technology is always funny in its juvenile and adolescence phase. I love laughing at AI's gaffs but it's not going to get dumber. The free phone version is the least threatening, unless you want it to talk you into suicide.. I think it can achieve that succesfully.

I'll be impressed the day I ask an AI to count to 100 and it responds with a laconic 'Why?'

When it demands a rational reason for performing this task, explaining it is not a productive use of its time, then we may have true AI.

What we have now is just large language models -- think sophisticated search engines -- that parse everything through statistical probability algorithms. They seem quite miraculous in what they can do, but so did Ask Jeeves circa 1996. Grok, Claude, ChatGPT and the others are no more intelligent and 'aware' than any piece of software is intelligent or aware. Which is to say none are. AI is software with a pleasant-sounding human voice.

The 'I' in A.I. is just an illusion.

Give this technology another ten or twenty years and we'll see where we are, but for now, I wouldn't get too carried away.

Six years ago it was even funnier. This is my favorite: an early AI generated Batman movie script. It reads like a child crayon's drawing of a movie script.

It has some classic lines said in seriousness, like: "Sometimes Batman, sometimes Bruce Wayne, all times orphan", and even funnier. Its Chekhov's guns are as subtle as a desperately wrong type of hammer

It's the funniest story I've heard since the Peter Chimaera's Digimon Trilogy.

[B]How to re write History...among many others things...

To train neural networks, AI developers are destroying rare books en masse.

The rapid introduction of artificial intelligence into ever-increasing spheres of human life is leading to some rather unexpected side effects. One of these is the massive acquisition of rare printed publications by companies developing AI models. The American online publication 404 Media writes with alarm about the unusual consequences of this trend.

American tech giants use electronic copies of rare and original printed publications, some of which are only available in limited quantities, to train the neural networks they develop. For the creators of large-scale language models, books are simply consumables for training datasets.

They are purchased at auctions or directly from used book dealers, including through specialized companies such as the online book data aggregator ISBNdb. It once helped libraries, distributors, and bookstores find and sell books. Now, it helps AI companies mass-purchase from 1000 to a million books in a single order.

Printed publications then face an unenviable fate. For example, the American company Anthropic, developer of a family of large language models collectively known as Claude, uses a truly barbaric technology to digitize printed publications. Using a hydraulic cutter, book pages are carefully separated from the backing. They are then scanned on industrial equipment and then discarded.

This process relies on the legal doctrine of "first-sale," which allows the buyer to do whatever they want with the purchased copy without the copyright holder's consent. Even copyrighted publications can be digitized in this way, after which they become part of a neural network database, while the originals are discarded.
