Nirmal (known universally as 'Nims') was a superstar climber, one of the very very best. But if a large deadly avalanche has your name on it, there's not a thing you can do.

Concerning the Spokane fire, the first two minutes of this video demonstrates that it is exactly the same m.o. as the fires in Paradise and Lahaina - homes burned to the foundation leaving nothing but an white ash footprint while trees remain standing almost completely untouched. These fires are happening all over Washington at the moment leaving so many people attempting to flee at once that the highways and roads gridlock from the congestion. Very dangerous considering the extreme temperatures these fires produce where cars burn quicker than trees. I live a couple hours east of Spokane and the air has been horrendous making some keep their windows closed to keep out the smoke. One more thing: it has been extremely dry with temps in the upper 90's the last few weeks and the winds were unusually strong the last two days. One evening the air even felt oddly magnetic. Call me a conspiracy theorist...

Another Spokane update. This one hits close to home for me. Two hours away another town was attacked by high tech weaponry, performed by some invisible black project within the US bureaucracy. Presidents don't matter, temporary puppets. Much more evidence in the first half of this news report. I don't think we need to start a separate thread, simply wanted to post one more video of evidence. I consider that very telling of the agenda to intentionally clear the land of people. The proliferation of nuclear weapons among rogue states is one of the most dangerous threats to our global security. The possibility of leaders like Kim Jong-un and his sister using nuclear weapons because of some perceived action by a neighboring country is unthinkable. If Iran were to acquire nuclear capabilities, it would absolutely trigger a nuclear arms race in the Middle East; it would only be a matter of time before some sort of nuclear mistake, malfunction or intentional bombing occurred. The powerful sister of leader Kim Jong Un accused Japan of turning its armed forces into a force capable of pre-emptive attacks and overseas military operations.

SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea’s Kim Yo Jong, the powerful sister of leader Kim Jong Un, warned on Wednesday that Pyongyang would adopt “additional military options” in response to what she called Japan’s transformation into a military power, after Tokyo test-fired a U.S.-made Tomahawk cruise missile.

In a statement carried by state media KCNA, Kim accused Japan of moving beyond a defensive posture and turning its armed forces into a force capable of pre-emptive attacks and overseas military operations.

She cited Japan’s recent Tomahawk test from the Aegis destroyer Chokai in the Pacific Ocean, as well as test-firings of other missiles and its participation in a U.S.-led joint military drill in the Philippines in May.

Kim said that North Korea would respond in ways that made Japan feel that its security has been exposed to greater danger. “We should make it regret,” she said, in some of her strongest rhetoric toward Tokyo in recent months.

Kim also accused the United States of enabling Japan’s military buildup by supplying Tomahawk missiles, modifying vessels for their operation and supporting the missile tests.

“The U.S. is behind such dangerous military moves of Japan,” she said.

Kim, who heads the record-keeping department in North Korea’s ruling party, said Japan’s acquisition of long-range strike capabilities effectively placed North Korea and other neighboring countries within range.

To counter Tokyo’s military activities that may pose a potential threat to the security of North Korea, Kim said Pyongyang “will set up additional military options,” without elaborating.

The statement is the latest in a series of North Korean commentaries criticizing security cooperation among the United States, South Korea and Japan.

Since July, KCNA has published at least six editorials and commentaries denouncing these joint military activities as threatening regional security and raising tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

US military GPS jamming killed four onboard a medevac flight — Pentagon was testing the tech right over a civilian flight path

According to Wired, citing a preliminary NTSB report, a Trans Aero MedEvac Beechcraft King Air 90 departed Roswell, New Mexico before dawn on May 14, en route to pick up a patient in Ruidoso. On board: two pilots and two flight nurses.

At the same time, roughly 100 miles away at White Sands Missile Range, the military was running a GPS-jamming exercise — part of the Air Force's annual NAVFEST drill. The crew's navigation system reportedly froze or displayed a false position without warning, a known failure mode of this kind of jamming.

Disoriented and flying at night in mountainous terrain, the crew flew straight into the Capitan Mountains near Ruidoso. All four aboard were killed instantly. The crash also sparked the Seven Cabins wildfire, which went on to burn over 31,000 acres.

Investigators note GPS jamming didn't directly cause the crash — but was the first domino. The final NTSB report is still pending. The Army has confirmed it's aware of the investigation but declined further comment while it's ongoing.

BS. The "first domino" as they call it, is called "proximate cause" in the law. The proximate cause is the first cause, or "first domino" without which the event would not have occurred. It is the "but for" this, x would not have happened. The sine qua non. "Without which not."

The "but for" of this plane crash was the GPS jamming. But for that, the plane would have landed safely at its intended destination and those 4 people would not have died at that time and in that way, and the fire would not have started at that time and in that way.

This story has lots of coverage, and lots of wrong speculation.

The GPS jamming was previously announced though a NOTAM. The pilots had 2 other ways of navigating in instrument flight (IFR), but chose to go visual (VFR) saying they could see the city lights. Having announced their switch to visual flight rules, their navigation was on them, not the the ATC (air traffic control system). They lost situational awareness, crucially their proximity to the mountain. They descended in the direction of the city lights, but then lost sight of them because mountain, which they could not see. For some reason they didn’t realize the predicament and immediately pull up, but they hadn’t expected the mountain as they thought they were somewhere else.

I was flying at night in this area a couple days before the accident. The GPS outage was NOTAM'd. ATC was excellent and provided a warning. We did lose GPS, so we changed over to VOR navigation, and continued on. We just reported in that we did that. ATC kept and eye on us; asked if we had any problems; and then we ultimately did the ILS into our destination of El Paso. But there was ample notice, and ATC was proactive.
