“I'm Declaring For the WNBA Draft, I'm Trans Now"

Say Former NBA Players Enes Kanter & Royce White

I get the idea both are doing this as a stunt; I also get the idea both are serious, prepared to see it through, and even *gulp* play if given the opportunity.

Q to Royce White: What if you're not selected in the draft or signed as a free agent?
White: They can expect a major lawsuit. I will not be discriminated against.

This gets close to the heart of the debate (or lack of debate) that people can identify as any gender they wish, but it does not change the facts about biological men and women.

A wild report on Infowars yesterday. (More like something on Jerry Springer than anything else!)
Wild Video: Transgender Lawyer Arrested After EPIC Courtroom MELTDOWN

Footage out of an Oklahoma courtroom captured the moment a transgender attorney had to be physically restrained and arrested following a heated argument with a female judge.

(BR note: "Rob Hopkins” is a female-to-male transgender, who actually has a beard. And while the meltdown was steadily escalating, the judge was most commendably patient.)

Courtroom surveillance video of the Feb. 11 incident shows civil rights attorney “Rob Hopkins” attempting to mansplain to district court Judge Lori Jackson why she’s wrong that Hopkins was trying to provide testimony on behalf of her client, Julie Ann Kramer, who didn’t show up to court.

After a heated back-and-forth, Judge Jackson orders Hopkins to stop interrupting her or risk being held in direct contempt of court, to which Hopkins nods with an amused facial expression.

“Stop, stop, stop! You interrupt me one more time and you are being held in contempt. You can wipe that smirk off your face,” the judge tells Hopkins, who fires back, “I don’t have a smirk on my face. I do not.”

After being told, “You interrupted again,” Hopkins tosses her phone, which falls to the ground in front of the judge’s bench.

An argument ensues over whether the phone was thrown, and the attorney tells the judge she has a problem “maybe because I’m a transgender attorney practicing all over the state.”

“I don’t know what you are,” the judge responds, adding, “I don’t know you from Adam.”

Despite the tense interaction, Hopkins is able to convince the judge to allow his client to appear telephonically, before a prosecutor objects, saying, “This is as clear as the nose on my face that this woman will not appear before this court because she has a warrant for stealing…”

At this point, Hopkins launches into an unhinged protest shouting at the judge and yelling over the prosecutor, before Judge Jackson decides she’s had enough and pauses the hearing.

As the prosecutor turns to confront Hopkins, she begins shouting to “Get out of my face.”

The opposing attorney tells her, “You should get out of this county… These people are my friends and you’re being ugly,” before walking away.

Two bailiffs next come up to Hopkins asking her to put her hands behind her back, to which she refuses – prompting the officers to physically restrain her.

Over the next three minutes an amazing courtroom spectacle unfolds: Hopkins fights off officers’ attempts to handcuff her, gets tackled to the ground, screams, “I can’t breathe,” and bizarrely requests a female officer.

“Do not hurt me, do not hurt me … Do not grab me! Do not grab me! I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe,” Hopkins screamed. “Get a female officer now! Get a female officer now!”

Hopkins was arrested and released on a $25,000 bond.

In an update, Hopkins said she would stop practicing law in light of the incident, claiming she’s afraid for her physical safety and saying she believes she has grounds for a discrimination lawsuit in the county.
The judge stonewalled the lawyer. Lawyer became frustrated. Judge claimed not to know he was trans after they spoke on the phone where he brought it up, (apparently).

He repeatedly tried to fill her in on pertinent details. She shut him down every time. Finally, after a weird situation where the judge is clearly escalating the situation, SHE calms down and actually listens to what he is trying to say. Then the other lawyer gets in on the action and re-escalates.

The trans lawyer is clearly on the defensive, which doesn't serve him well. The judge though, wow... all trans issues aside, what a piece of work. She's manipulative and abuses her power. 'Nurse Ratched' in the courtroom.

The Canadian governments, federal and most provinces, attempt to be compassionate. Do they get it right all the time? No. Seeing as the explosion in transgender issues is a recent phenom, of course mistakes will be made. I'm not very familiar with this case but I assume the kid had a weird home life and should have received plenty of counselling before the issue of trans came up. Had he gotten therapy, it may never have come up.

I'm all for individual rights and freedoms, but don't agree with trans women in biological female spaces, like competitive sports. It's wrong. There is an unfair advantage. A trans woman, particularly one who is tall, will have more upper body strength than a woman, hormones or not. There are, of course, exceptions but rules are based on patterns in the general population, not specific individuals.
