To be frank, and perhaps a little severe, they should make these sorts of stunts illegal. It creates a stir, for no reason, can excite people, for no reason, potentially put authorities on alert, for no reason, draw investigators and enthusiasts from many miles away, for no reason, such pranks can even cause a traffic accident, for no reason. On top of all that it's also fuel for the debunkers.

And for what, self-publicity or something? Morons.

Hoaxing UFOs and other phenomena is plain wrong. Fine them, and steeply. Or 100 hours community service, minimum.

According to Météo Gard Hérault, the phenomenon was reportedly observed by witnesses in Montpellier, Cournonterral, Palavas-les-Flots, and Sète. Reports also reportedly came in from Narbonne, Perpignan, and Andorra.

For my part, I witnessed the same phenomenon on that same date in Narbonne. I was in the garden, and around 10 p.m., I spotted a huge mass—seemingly dark and triangular in shape—at low altitude; its gigantic size blocked out a vast portion of the sky and stars. It made no noise and had orange lights on its underside. It was moving slowly toward the Mediterranean; there is a major coastal radar base at Narbonne-Plage. I went to bed around midnight, and shortly after, my wife and I heard at least two fighter jets circling the area;(fighter jets flying at night is quite rare). I imagine the base's radar picked up multiple echoes, prompting the scramble of those jets. I was deeply struck by this sighting—one I will never forget...
