Guardian Angels

I don't know why I felt like I needed to post this now, but whomever it is for: Here you go. Maybe as much as anything it is reminder to me.

Years ago, not long after my husband and I were married, the topic of guardian angels came up. I was saying something like I really believed guardian angels were the only reason I was alive today and proceeded to list off various situations where I could have or should have died and (obviously) did not.

As I finished talking I noticed he was staring at me fairly slack-jawed and it dawned on me... I looked at him completed appalled and exclaimed, "YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN GUARDIAN ANGELS?!" Of course the rush of mad thoughts through the mind, how did I end up married to someone who didn't believe in guardian angels?! How did this not come up in the years of conversation before we were married?!

My husband being who he is said, "Hold on a minute, I'm going to have to think about that." He was pondering it when he went out the door, down the road and around the corner to walk the dog down the steep bit of hill to the park. As he rounded the corner on that cold night, he slipped and fell on the ice. This should've been a really bad fall. Like a crack you tailbone, break your wrist and smack your head on concrete kind of a fall on ice.

He said everything seemed to go in slow motion, and it felt as if hands had gently lowered him to the ground. He sat there in amazement at what had happened, and was excited to get back to tell me about it.

I think the moral of the story is sometimes all that is required is to be open to the possibilities and really amazing things can happen. Even things you had never thought were possible ever in your life. Just a brief moment of space and openness to all possibilities is all that is really needed for a miracle.

A gifted friend of mine told me how, when doing past life regression work, she had discovered that between her current lifetime and the previous one here as a human, she had been someone's Guardian Angel for several years.

She recalled 'befriending' and taking care of a well-known Jewish artist who had been forced to flee Germany just before the war and travel across Europe to Spain, enduring all kinds of extreme hardships and personal challenges. She 'accompanied' him all the way, ensuring that he did not come to any harm.

That was all from her session recall. Later, she told me that "quite by coincidence" she had come across a book written by this man... who described exactly what she had recalled, and had detailed how during the entire extent of his very difficult journey he had always felt he was being supported by an unseen benevolent hand.

There have been a few times in my life that things happened where it might be or not, that I was saved from what could have been the end. But there is one that makes me stop and ponder. There's no way to know for certain of course but my long abandoned beliefs were awakened after a motorcycle accident where it was pretty close. In what could have been the end I ended up with a cracked elbow bone and an injured leg that has not been the same even now eight years later. Enough of a 'reminder' still remains to make me not forget.

I was speeding on a twisty hilly road I chose because of those characteristics. It was something I had done before and I 'knew' it was dangerous. Suddenly In a split second I kind of lost it, and did not have control. I went off the road on a turn along a guard rail that was over a stream about 20/30 feet below. By the time I went down I was probably doing 45 or 50 mph. I went rocketing face down on the sand and leaves between the rail and the pavement for about 100 ft. in slow but fast motion. My helmet and visor saved my head and face.
Had I landed on the hard pavement or hit the rail it would have been a different story.

It was like a warning to me like, "Don't be so stupid, think of your wife and son."
I felt like my fall was guided and a warning, things happened like it was planned.

Guardian Angel? You never know for sure, but it makes us think.

I am sure that I have a guardian angel that looks after me on the road, I have had enough near misses, that I now say thank you out loud and am so grateful, xxx

About 20 years ago I was surfing the now defunct website Spirit Web (it was a terrific site BTW) and was reading an article written by Doreen Virtue if I recall correctly, it was about Guardian Angels. She said that there is a Guardian Angel we have on each shoulder. Two, not just one! She said ask the Angel on your right shoulder what their name is and the first name that comes to your mind is the real name of that Angel. The first name that popped into my head was John. I thought to myself 'A ha so it's not a usual name like Ezekiel or Gabriel? Just a normal worldy name, ok'. Now Ask the Angel on your left shoulder what their name is. First name that popped up was Albert. ' A ha, a similar normal name but old fashioned though. Doreen Virtue said that to verify the names we were to be patient and watchfull and aware and the names would be verified in all kinds of ways, which included car nameplates, what people say etc. I immediately started looking at another website that caught my attention and on the first page I noticed in bold print the Name John and on the next line was the name Albert, 'A ha' I thought. I wonder if I can find the word Aranuk here? BTW about a year or so earlier a good friend of mine who was clairvoyant, whilst in a trance like state told me that my Higher self was named Aranuk. I thought at that time that was a wee bit strange as I had never ever heard of a Higher Self had a name. Anyway, I knew I would most likely not find that name on this page as I had googled the name and got no results. Well not any realistic results. I was looking for anagrams and such like. About a few paragraphs further down the same first page was in bold type the name KARUNA. I spotted it in a flash, that is an anagram of ARANUK. BINGO!
Months later I was having a conversation with my son in law's mum who was open minded about such speak and who was in the Dominican Church. I asked Jane about my Guardian Angels names and asked whether she thought they were authentic or not. She replied with a question, Stan she asked, what church did your daughter Kate and my son Dominic get married in? I replied quickly 'The Dominican Church' She responded with another question, what was the name of the church, I said I didn't know. She responded with a huge grin on her face The church of St John & St Albert. You could have knocked me down with a feather.

I have many.

Only yesterday did I come across this movie again ( I've seen it at least 20 times ) which in my highly educated but humble opinion is THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE. PERIOD.

and it just so happens to deal with the subject at hand.

Yeah, it's a little past the holiday season but don't let that stop you from watching it again -- and again -- and again -- and... ;-))

Okay, I have to confess, I have never actually seen it. I've always been a bit of a scrooge when it comes to the commercial aspects of the holiday season and it's included most Christmas programs.

I really never had any idea there was an angels aspect to this movie, and I will trust your recommendation, Hip, and finally check it out. Helps that it is on You Tube.

My mother always tells a story of my twin brother. (I dont remember this, too young)

One day she was driving and had my brother Brendan and I in the car with her. At the time we were 4 I believe. Out of the blue my brother asks "Mamma do you believe in angels?" My mom sort of thinking it was a random question answers something like.. "well I have never seen one, but I believe God has helpers. why do you ask sweetie?" and my brother's response "because there is an angel sitting right behind you, and he has a big sword." My mom said just about every hair on her neck was sticking straight up.

Glad to see another fan of "It's a Wonderful Life"!! Thanks for posting it!
I watch it EVERY year and enjoy it even more now than my first viewing ... probably has
to do with life experiences ( maturity ) more than anything else.

I have several guardian angel stories, too. Near car wreck(s), motorcycle accident, entire family missed plane flight in 1957 due to issue with my birth certificate (and that plane was "lost" over the ocean).

I am so grateful for guardian angels and I try to avoid making their job
any more difficult than "usual". I am not a dare devil nor do I aspire to be one!

Sorry, Stan. I neglected to warn, especially those that have not had the privilege of veiwing this 'classic' that having a box of tissues on hand wouldn't be a bad idea. Nothing more gratifying than knowing a grown ( macho is even better ) man cried. ;-))

Heck, I've seen it 20 times, 21 now, and still... ah, heh -- do I dare say it? ;-)))

On a more serious note I may as well share a couple ( there have been many ) 'guardian angel' ( for lack of another understanding ) incidents involving myself.

I had awoken in the middle of the night to an intense energy, to this day it's hard to describe, and ran, panicked, from my bedroom into the living room -- and into the middle of a raging fire. Within seconds I was on the ground, gasping for air, could only see orange flames licking at the ceiling through the intense smoke.

I don't recommend this way to have your entire life literally flash before your eyes in a 'flash' but that's exactly what transpired. What 'they' say is true. For all intents and purposes I was a goner.

Then seemingly from nowhere I heard loud knocking. Knocking on the glass patio door. It was just enough to get me to my knees and crawling over to where the sound was coming from. The knocking continued, only now it was thunderous. So loud it seemed that if I hadn't grappled for the curtains, ripping them from the glass patio door and flinging it open that the sound would have shattered it for me.

There was no one there -- at least no one I could see.

Perhaps it was Clarence ( from "It's A Wonderful Life" ;-)

And one more story. ( I feel as though at any moment Rod Serling, from "The Twilight Zone" is going to chime in with, "Imagine if you will..." )

This is better than the first. And I almost don't want to admit it.

In the early-eighties I was a member of the Los Angeles Police Department ( not to worry, I've since atoned for it ;-)) and was assigned to Air Support Division flying in Jet Ranger helicopters. This particular night the weather was not good, and as a pilot myself I chose not to fly ( as observer ) that evening because if I have the option I won't fly in weather even as a passenger ( observer ) that I wouldn't fly as pilot in command.

Really long story short -- the chopper crashed that night and the observer that was sitting where I would have been sitting was decapitated.

So do I believe in 'guardian angels'?

I have no doubt that angles exis. My logical self from prior years would have never believed that this current self of mine today, is declaring such a thing. but so be it, a lot of water run under the dam. Angles are'nt necessary what we think they are, how we visualize them, or how we percieve their 'jobs' to be. They may appear with plasma and not with wings.

I personally think thier job suck, and I am afarid that I am expressing it to them more often then none. imagaine yourself needing to chaperone another being in a human body on planet earth, imagine it to be a starving child in Africa, a beaten woman anywhere in the world, one who been murdered and choped to pieces by a psychopath, or a mind control victim opening fire on other children at school, imagine the emotions running through such scenario, what type of helping hand can you offer there, how impervious can you be and still continue to watch and do the 'job'? observing and doing nothing. this' job' is a part of a whole construct that is not fair from the micro point of view, meaning the human being perspective, and even though it is a very limited one, it still counts! and I would like to subtlety protest and say that this job of an angle sucks. However, not wanting to shoot the messangers, this post is meant for the big boss. It might be the big boss's plans that suck, and I would like to protest.

One of my close friends told me a story about a woman she knows who had an amazing experience with a light being or (guardian angel). This woman was driving on a busy freeway in the Los Angeles area, she was driving in back of a huge semi truck that was carrying large materials( building poles of some kind). Traffic was insane that day so she couldn't move from behind the semi truck. At one point she saw the large materials on the semi truck unraveling and beginning to fall toward the front of her car. At that instant she knew she was going to die when out of no where she sees this entity or what appeared to be a light being who held the large materials from falling off the semi truck.
I do believe there are positive entities looking after us......why wouldn't there be?

Who are angels' or What are Angels? I know, most people automatically think of religion, of course. But we are not taught about Biblican things that could tell us a lot about anciant times that is very informative. There were Angels in those days. Jews know that definatly because of their religious studies of the Torah and The Old Testament ect. that non Jews could learn a lot about.
There were Giants in those days and later is a quote I recall. Most people don't know about Angels that walked among men. They were both Men and Women. We are at a loss more than we realize. It does not have to be a religious thing.
