🚨 Two Large Earthquakes Strike Near Antarctica 🚨

    August 22, 2026 | Scotia Sea
A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck the Scotia Sea, followed just 42 minutes later by a larger magnitude 6.2 in almost the same area near the South Orkney Islands.

This is a highly active section of the Scotia-Antarctic plate boundary, a fault system that has produced earthquakes above magnitude 7 in the past.

Two sizeable shocks, less than an hour apart, have put this remote Antarctic fault zone firmly back on our watch.

Just the beginning ? Is this related to the recent large Earthquakes in South America ??? A powerful M6.2 earthquake has struck the Scotia Sea near Antarctica, right along a major plate boundary connecting toward South America. After a M5.7 just hours earlier, attention is turning to the South Scotia Ridge, South Orkney Islands and a fault system capable of much larger earthquakes. What is happening beneath Antarctica — and is this sequence just beginning? WATCH HERE:
