Namaste 🙏 Bill you are always on spot. I'm in India, as you know and lived here through out 33 years of my life starting in 1993 as 19 year old student.
I came to meditate and learn of the "Big Picture Truth" but got involved in Sanskrit and Vedic studies almost immediately which opened my eyes to many gnostic mysteries of India and the East with many further studies .

The part of the problem as i see it is that while some of us love to learn and study, love to read , to see, to know more , to some of the most of the rest of the people "learning hurts".

In India itself education systems however imperfect improved dramatically since , towards everything modern and secular,
religions and mysteries remained, engraved in stone, still waiting to be deciphred.

I still vividly remember times when Lobsang Rampa book the "Third Eye" was one of the most read piece of folk Buddhist literature in folk Europe , quite like Bill Meyer was considered "the authority" in matters of ET contact .
There was only handful of people who read the Dhammapada ( quintessence of Buddhas teachings ) but almost everyone was keen to believe or question Lobsang Rampa and whether the things he described existed in Tibet.

In today's terms, he may have been less fictional than average fiction producers of today.

For end of 20th century discoverer his statements came with deep question mark.

Paradoxically, he has just filled another unknown gnostic gap and predicted that interest in Tibetan mysteries will rise , not decline.

Even today's China conducts lots of exploration to Tibetan history , geology and cultural heritage even though they will never gain access to the "true secrets" ( Tibetan "termas", information treasures ) hidden in places called "bayul"s ( hidden valleys ) without engaging in authentic Buddhist studies and practise .

Their interest no matter how sincere and genuine only resembles one of western science , that is materialistic science who try to cut through all matters with cutting edge precision, define the "life essence" or life itself as cut off formula , tearing a piece of the infinite stream of definition / information / consciousness that started its journey "from the Source" long ago , at the very start of Conscious , Living Universe .

Nevertheless , they now show serious interest in such matters ...

I'm also curious to see this new authentic documentary about Potala.

Also here in Indian Himalayas, I like to imagine how life was before the invention of light bulb , so to say as some of the last villages got electricity access only 20 years ago ( now even remote valleys have solar panels, plasma TVs and ultralight plastic washing machines that can be carried over the pass on your shoulders easily ) .
Even while some of our "10 000 year ancestors" certainly knew about the electric power and other power sources the "grid" as we know it was only constructed after Tesla and Edison .

So I always imagine how was the life in these regions , dark forest roads , endless valleys full of vegetation and wild animals , hence monasteries were built like forts .

The lightening in old Tibetan monasteries depended on butter lamps and torch lamps quite like castles in mediaeval Europe.

Strangely enough ancient China possessed some most advanced technologies of that time ,
hence "Chinese lanterns" and "Chinese dragons" ( flight capable vehicles ) were among the mysterious phenomena disclaimed by modern historians as "living myths" ,
while some people barely noticed the existence of complex "robotic toys" in Chinese emperial court's from thousands of years ago .

Perhaps our Mind is Boundless .

But till our wisdom is small we do not dare to approach or cross whatever we call "our boundaries" .

We approve of "knowing" but at the very edges of we are like "naked emperors" stepping to ever vaster space of Life and possibilities .

Well and if someone is so intended , funded and inspired to visit the mysterious sites of Tibet today , don't believe every "conspiracy theory".
There still are genuine Tibetan guides with travel groups who can take you wherever you want to go, arrange your inlands travel permits and lunches ( they seem to be great foodies out there in fresh air ),

follow Jamyang at Tibet Travel Vista .

    Buenos

    🙏

Quote Posted by Bill Ryan (here)
Below is a new and thought-provoking presentation from Richard Dolan, which inspired a host of thoughts of my own. His stated thesis wasn't exactly the title of this thread, but it's possible he might not disagree.

Richard has made many long strides in recent years, but in some ways he's still at least a little constrained by western academic (logical, Cartesian*) thinking.
    * Cartesian thinking is a logical, step-by-step approach to knowledge based on radical doubt, reason, and the separation of mind and matter. Named after the 17th-century French philosopher René Descartes, it seeks absolute certainty by breaking complex problems down into smaller, simpler parts.
But his presentation, clearly well-prepared but unscripted and highly fluent and articulate, omits one analogy that seems obvious to me: that of the exploration of new lands.

There was almost limitless scope for that in our world even up to 120 years ago. But now almost every square inch of Planet Earth has been visited and mapped.

    What has this lost us?

But of course, expanding into the wider universe, scope for the exploration of new worlds is almost infinite. And let's be infinitely thankful for that. Mystery, and unanswered questions, will always be there. And that's surely such a healthy thing for any intelligent species to experience.

Of course, Richard (on his channel) is largely confining the issue of 'Mystery' to the UFO phenomenon. But even though our physical world is almost completely explored and mapped, there are other non-physical mysteries in abundance, many of which are documents on the Avalon forum.

And it's possible that we may not ever get to understand everything.
    .
Richard himself gives a wonderful example of exactly this from Ralph Waldo Emerson, in his essay Circles.

    https://emersoncentral.com/texts/essays-first-series/circles.

Emerson's analogy to our world of established knowledge and understanding is simple and brilliant. If our understanding is represented by a circle, then the circumference of that circle is the interface between what's understood and what is not.

And therefore when the circle expands... so does the circumference, the interface with the unknown.
After a Lifetime of Mystery, What Remains?

While we can closely scrutinize the methods with which we examine occult subjects such as UFO’s, as eloquently summarized by Dolan himself, and excellently recalibrated in K-Man’s Five Gate Test, my biggest takeaway from Dolan was the fact that, when all is said and done, we still haven’t found, with any reasonable certainty, the definitive answers for, or reality behind, many of the biggest topics such as UFO’s, free energy, the JFK assassination, where we received our celebrity status of “conspiracy theorist”, 9/11, Sandy Hook, Paradise and Lahaina, giants and ancient cities in the Amazon rainforest, which encompasses 7 million square kilometers (2.7 million sq mi), of which 6 million sq km (2.3 million sq mi) are covered by the rainforest, not to mention that other great region called Antarctica. It would seem most subjects we study and examine on this forum remain mysteries. One could argue that since our initial awakening from the long slumber, quite possibly even long before, life has become one big mystery in which no concrete answers are revealed, nothing but more questions and many more “I don’t know”s than “I knew it”s. Could that be an answer in itself to the life we’re currently living? Once again, I don’t know. As Dolan eluded to, all these mysteries really do begin to look into us the more we look into them, and begin to slowly peel away the layers of not only a lifetime of false indoctrination but also the many misconceptions and misperceptions we maintain about ourselves, our world, and our reason for being in the world.

Just thinking out loud here, but has our world, in fact, been completely mapped? And if so, why are we not given the full detail of these maps? We all know Google has a tendency to blur out the most interesting areas around the world. And what of old maps such as these:

Things They Will Never Teach (Old Maps)

I believe you’re right when you say the world has been completely visited and mapped, but the parts that don’t fit into our timeline and official narrative are not only conveniently blocked from any and all public scrutiny but remain off-limits and secured by threat of lethal force. My point being that while “every square inch of Planet Earth has been visited and mapped,” we remain in the dark as to the true makeup and history of this planet.

If even some of the stories like this are true, https://projectavalon.net/forum4/sho...=1#post1724922, then why aren’t we more familiar with these ancient ruins? Why are we not allowed in places like the Grand Canyon? And why, when we uncover amazing discoveries such as this, https://projectavalon.net/forum4/sho...=1#post1701553

(I believe this is the video that’s no longer available in that post)

do they quickly bury it? For all intents and purposes, it would appear the authorities are doing all they can to keep the truth about our history on this planet a secret. I believe we all know this to be true. So where does that leave us? A planet that’s been visited and mapped and now held tightly under wraps. Why? What could be learned from an honest and forthright exploration and scientific analysis of every inch of this planet? Again, I don’t know. But I want to know. Because the truth about this planet is still unknown to everyone except those who keep it under lock and key. It becomes a larger mystery for the sheer fact that it’s being withheld from us and again leaves us with more questions than answers.

I’m going to take the liberty of assuming that in the act of tangentially venturing into “the exploration of new lands” you were suggesting there are other areas or subjects of exploration that could apply but were left out of Dolan’s stated thesis. I have thought of another in which the Cartesian model of thinking must, in all likelihood, be thrown out the window altogether, for how can we separate mind and matter when exploring the spiritual world and the many various figures passed down to us through time.

Take Jesus, for example. How can we be absolutely certain that he even walked the Earth the way the gospels, acts, and epistles of the New Testament claim? Here is a mystery that most will go to the grave never fully comprehending and yet are oddly ok with this because we are told the whole point of Christianity is about having faith right? I’m not so sure that was his message for us but that’s a different discussion. Exploration of the spiritual/non-physical realms will always remain a great mystery to anyone pursuing such exploration, and the wall of skepticism proves a very difficult hurdle to surmount for many because if you’re looking for proof it may be hard to come by.

Works such as Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East by Baird T. Spalding, The Children of The Law of One & the Lost Teachings of Atlantis by Jon Peniel, and Unveiled Mysteries by Godfre Ray King claim to recount real life encounters here on Earth with some of the mysterious masters of the spiritual realms. Again, I don’t know and cannot verify anything recounted in these works and am relegated to the unfortunate position of viewing them as mere curiosities when all is said and done. That being said, I'm still attracted to such mysterious works because they allude to massive potential for human growth and in understanding our place in the universe. To wrap up, in light of the many archaeological discoveries in recent years, the picture presented in this book begins to feel less like far-fetched and outlandish fantasy and more and more like the reality of our past on this planet. The European enlightenment hasn't matured enough for the limits of rationality to have been established. Knowledge is treated as if it were seams of mineral deposits, waiting to be uncovered and mined, but in fact is more like statuary above ground, that can take any shape and size, unlike the analogous minerals that have a quantitative limit, knowledge and theory are infinite, there are endless ways to describe reality with different degrees of utility, and theories will become more or less attractive depending on the cultural context.

Mystery could be endlessly complex until it's resolved into a simple answer. Simplifying any meaning is a disservice. It's a for example; sickness of the times we live in.
People get boxed into labeled positions. To simplify the complex. My point is that's a navigation away from actual truth. It's a sacrifice of truth to compliment control.

Since I'm so misunderstandable I'll explain my position further.

A mystery is a wonderful thing. A simple grain of sand holds the secrets of the entire universe. But then we have people that want to claim power from solving the mystery. But the solution they present is always fake, it's by their own selfish motivations to be superior to their fellow man.

In superior realities the mystery exists, but the discoverer and their status has no value.

Since we place status and value on discovery, that means that any discovery true or false gives the discoverer, if so at risk or at the leisure of others not realizing the falsity of their observations. Power.

It's a risk a lot of people take, to be acting a fool, or to receive status. A lie can take or reward. But a continuous and well played lie that can not be proven can move a long way through time,

But the benefactor is always the one that pushes it. And as I said in a superior reality. The individual that pushes knowledge, ideas, theories or even truth does not get rewarded for it, there's no selfish reward system in place.

But I always think. We are here to live life and life alone. So I don't judge the game, but the game is overwhelmingly here.
