Doug Ford, Premier of the province of Ontario, said he received numerous calls from USA governors who said they'll always call it "Lake Ontario". As will the rest of the world.

(I just checked google maps for Lake Ontario area. Google still names it "Lake Ontario". Same for the Gulf of Mexico, however google added "(Gulf of America)", yes, in brackets, below the Gulf of Mexico label. Let's hope that this will pacify the toddler in charge.)
