I wouldn't say I've never been to a formal dinner with loads of cutlery, but years ago when corporate companies would have huge dinner dances at Christmas. These days, I think I'm right in saying, we don't bother with this etiquette although the elites clearly still do. . . I once asked a baronness what in particular separated the classes at the dinner table, thinking it was holding a knife like a pen, but she said it was coffee, always to be taken without milk, which labelled the uppers from the lowers. A load of cobblers really but quite interesting nevertheless. . . .

Ha. I watched the whole thing with immense interest. (One comment I have to make, though, is that he never explained how one should eat spaghetti. )

I knew everything he discussed, though I don't know how I know: I suspect it was all from my parents — maybe when we were invited to others' houses to eat when I was very young. I went to public school myself (for US readers, British 'public school' = private school, don't ask me why), but there was nothing about that there, nor when I taught for a year at Britain's most prestigious public school in my early 20s.

But I have to share a story, which it's possible a few members may have heard before.

Back in 2010 I was the personal house guest of a Middle Eastern Royal Princess for 6 straight weeks. That in itself is a long story (she was like something out of a Disney movie), and we had a really great time as she was an avid Project Camelot follower and supporter.

She asked me to invite along several others in the alternative community whom she wanted to meet, including David Icke and Jordan Maxwell, and so we all hung out together for a while — including of course at the Royal Dinner Table.

(David played along admirably. I'd emailed him to say: "Look, I can't tell you why, and you just have to trust me, but get on a plane and I'll meet you at the airport tomorrow." He turned up with a big smile, delighted to be enjoying the mystery.)

At the dinner table, even though I knew all the etiquette perfectly described in the video, I watched our Royal Host super-carefully at first to ensure I always did the right thing.

I never took a single photo (she asked me please not to), but the meals were quite something else: numerous wonderful courses, served by a team of butlers in suits and bow ties, with the most exquisite desserts: all the kind of thing one might have paid a thousand pounds for at the Ritz Carlton.

And it was like that night after night. I'm VERY happy to say that I never disgraced myself once — and it was all one of the many remarkable experiences I've had in this long life.
