To me, the idea of living forever seems ridiculous.

There is an episode of Star Trek Voyager where one of the Q (immortals) wants to die. What an uproar he caused in the Q Continuum! I'm not going to spoil it for you and tell you whether or not he dies.

This episode really spoke to me, I don't like the idea of forever either. That just seems cruel.

Death is a blessing in a way. I believe in reincarnation . Soul gets shaped by the ways we live and how we conduct ourselves etc. And occasional restart does seem necessary. Memory needs to be wiped and we need to forget. If we all have lived dozens of lives previously would anybody want to remember all the misery and tragedy that was part of those lives ? A single childhood or later trauma can mess up a person for a lifetime. I think we all have had those in past lives and maybe one day we will remember them when we are ready for it .
To live forever for me sounds scarier than death. What if you are blind or paralyzed or a captive in some kind of Epstein island thingy...
Every soul has a chance to evolve and none are stuck in eternal misery .
I think this current form of experiencing life is rather beautiful . Constant restart until it aint needed.
Thats why i dont agree with Christianity and other religions . You get one chance to live perfectly and after that is either hell or paradise. Constant (physical) suffering or pleasure . Living forever in pleasure or pain but for eternity ..
Why would any soul aspire for physical pleasure in afterlife seems a mystery for me .
Muslim heaven with their dozens of virgins or Christian heaven where you can stare at the gold and diamonds for eternity...
I would choose to reincarnate here and watch some bugs crawl around in dirt and birds fly around in forest. Much more interesting and soul evolving than the other options of paradise and eternal living...
And when things go wrong i can come back and try again ! Soul evolves through experience and knowledge.
That is how i believe this existence functions.

Ideally, wouldn't it be nice if we could simply enjoy fulfilling our mission and goals in relatively good health, until we felt satisfied?
Then we could choose a fine exit when we are done and on to the next adventure!
