It's huge: 140 paragraphs, and almost 18,000 words - on an incredible array of subjects from the wars in the Middle-East, to AI, to agriculture.

I won't go into the details of it, if only because there is just an overwhelming amount of it, but the overall impression it gives is that this is what serious multilateral governance looks like - especially if you compare it to recent G7 summits, which only produce a handful of short reactive statements rather than anything resembling this kind of comprehensive institutional blueprint.

Here - from building alternative financial infrastructure to food security - you really get the feeling that, as difficult as it is with such a diverse group of countries, they're actually trying to build things and to answer the governance challenges of our age, many of which are ironically created by the G7 😅

That's the new era: half the world, quietly building the institutions the West is busy destroying.

That's very impressive, and what this clearly shows is that most or even all of it was agreed by teams of specialists over the last several weeks or longer. That's hardly the kind of thing that can be created in just a couple of days.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said here on Saturday that the BRICS cooperation mechanism has become the world's most influential platform for cooperation among emerging markets and developing countries.

When addressing the Session I of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, Xi noted that this year marks the 20th anniversary of BRICS cooperation, saying that over the past two decades, the BRICS cooperation mechanism has continued to grow and expand, and has demonstrated remarkable vitality and dynamism.

Xi said it has been 20 years of self-reliance and self-strengthening, adding that BRICS countries have actively explored development paths suited to their own national conditions, setting an example of self-strengthening through unity among emerging markets and developing countries.

This has also been 20 years of standing together through thick and thin, Xi noted.

BRICS New Delhi Declaration: BRICS nations strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, regardless of its motivation, location, or perpetrators.

The bloc condemned the April 22, 2025, terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people were killed and several others injured.

The declaration reaffirmed the commitment to combating cross-border terrorism, terrorism financing, and safe havens, while stressing that terrorism should not be linked to any religion, nationality, civilisation, or ethnic group.

BRICS called for zero tolerance towards terrorism, accountability for those involved, and concerted action against all UN-designated terrorists and terrorist entities. The bloc also called for the early finalisation and adoption of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism under the UN framework
