Is it sheer coincidence that, at the same time the integration of Israel military into USA military is proposed, USA is also setting up an computerized automatic draft registration system starting on December 19, 2026 of men aged 18 to 26. My guess is that these new AI data centres all over USA will play a major role in this 'automatic' registration.

Could this be a new streamlined way to force young American men to go fight wars for Israel, at a time when the great majority of young people despise Israel for its genocidal ways.

Selective Service System wants to wargame the draft

    July 24, 2026

Fearing that its new plans for the U.S. military draft pool won’t work, the Selective Service System wants to create a computer simulation to test scenarios for its national mobilization.

The “Readiness Simulation” project comes as the U.S. government is about to change its draft registration system.

Since 1940, men within a designated age range have been required to register with the Selective Service. But under a proposed rule, men aged 18 to 26 will be automatically registered starting Dec. 19, 2026. The Selective Service System will work off data contained in other federal databases.

Questions remain about how prepared the Selective Service System is to handle the change.

“SSS currently relies on manual analysis, legacy modeling approaches, outdated assumptions, and historical datasets that do not fully reflect modern demographics, communications channels, throughput constraints, or operational readiness conditions,” warned the agency in a Request for Quote for the Readiness Simulation tool.

Automatic Draft Registration: What Comes Next and Why it’s a Problem
The federal government will now automatically register young men for the draft, without their consent.

    By Priya Moran | May 14, 2026

In December 2025, President Trump signed the annual military policy bill into law. The National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2026 authorized the Selective Service System to automatically register young men, potentially making them available for a future military draft.

On March 30, the Selective Service System submitted its proposed rule to implement automation, with implementation planned to begin in December 2026.

    What Automation Means in Practice
Since 1980, young men have been required to register for the Selective Service by mail or website portal upon turning 18. Declining compliance rates drove a push in Congress to automate the process. The proposed process would verify data across multiple databases and register individuals into the Selective Service System automatically.

The Selective Service System describes this change as a way to save money and modernize the system by transferring responsibility for registration from individual men to the government.

In reality, this means the federal government will now access databases from state Departments of Motor Vehicles, the Socal Security Administration, and the Census Bureau to gather information to register young men automatically, without their consent.

Currently male U.S. citizens between 18 and 25, and some green card holders, are required to register for the Selective Service. However, as a result of automation, many young men who are not required to register — and who may not be made aware they have been registered — could end up in the draft system. Some transgender or non-binary individuals could potentially be swept into the system as well, with little recourse to challenge their inclusion.

In an era of aggressive immigration enforcement, a federal database that identifies young immigrant men for possible conscription has the potential for dangerous misuse. By sharing private data across agencies, it creates real risk that the Selective Service could be weaponized as a tool to target vulnerable communities.

    The Loss of Choice
This change also threatens the rights of conscientious objectors. Automatic registration removes the opportunity for individuals’ moral decision making. Young men will no longer be the opportunity to decide for themselves whether registering goes against their religious or moral beliefs.

In a recent Friends Journal essay, Elizabeth Emrey recalls walking into a Philadelphia meetinghouse in 1969, getting ready to leave for the Peace Corps with her husband who was resisting the Vietnam-era draft. After she spoke, many Quakers gathered to pray for her and her husband. That kindness and community were carried with them throughout their time in Sierra Leone.

Emrey’s essay captures what automation erases. A young person made a deliberate, difficult choice about their relationship to war, and a community gathered to witness it. Under automatic registration, that choice disappears.

    What Comes Next
For decades, the Selective Service registration has forced young men to confront the call to war and that of their conscience at the threshold of their adult life.

Importantly, this change to Selective Service registration does not mark a step towards the implementation of a draft, or the forced conscription of young men. However, at a time of rising tensions globally and increased U.S. military actions abroad, young people across the country are concerned about their futures.

The Selective Service System has received $6 million to update its old conscription systems. This funding is meant to make sure they are “ready in the event of a national emergency.” But by investing in these systems, the United States continues to prioritize military readiness at the expense of programs to deter violent conflict and foster stability. Instead, Congress and the administration should invest more money and effort into diplomacy and peacebuilding, to prevent wars and avoid the need for a military draft system entirely.

As we argued last year, Selective Service automation is not a compromise or an advancement. It is entrenchment. Congress should repeal, not reform the Selective Service. Senators Ron Wyden (OR), Rand Paul (KY), and Cynthia Lummis (WY) have taken the first step with the Military Selective Service Repeal Act.

Alongside the administration, Congress should focus on building peace and promoting diplomacy to prevent war, instead of maintaining a system designed to force young people to engage in violence.

Now is the time to speak up, before December arrives. Urge Congress to co-sponsor the Military Selective Service Repeal Act.

I think it is safe to say at this juncture that the effort to ask military personnel to choose their conscience over illegal orders has backfired rather spectacularly. Most of the military correctly interpreted the message as political interference. The message to the troops about illegal orders was intentionally vague and lacked any specificity. Trump and Hegseth managed to successfully frame this behaviour as a threat to national security, ultimately rallying support amongst the troops rather than destroying morale. It always amazes me that political people have no compunction about destroying young people's lives for their own political gain. Both parties play at this game, but the political left incessantly and eagerly engages in this stuff without any hint of conscience. Can an entire political party by pyscopathic?

    As the Russians say
После драки кулаками не машут (Posle draki kulakami ne mashut), which translates to "It is no use swinging your fists after the fight is over."

Conscientious Objectors Trying to Flee Military Skyrocket Under Trump
U.S. troops are reaching their breaking point as they say recent orders challenge their moral beliefs.

    August 26, 2026

An increasing number of American service members are becoming uncomfortable with their orders under President Trump, and are trying to leave the military.

MS NOW reports that the number of conscientious objectors in the military is growing, with many citing violations of international law. The GI Rights Hotline at the Quaker House has seen a spike in interest from service members who see their orders as immoral. The Center on Conscience and War, which helps service members file applications as objectors, has also seen applications go up by six times since the Iran war began in February, higher than any other time in the last 25 years.

Normally, the organization has about 50 objectors in a year, said Mike Prysner, who runs a hotline at the CCW, but since February, Prysner said the organization has assisted about 140 applicants.

“The Iran war was really the breaking point for them when they realized that they had to take action to make sure that they did not participate in something that they were going to regret for the rest of their lives,” Prysner said.

MS NOW spoke to one military member anonymously, who said that they believed their superiors were targeting civilian infrastructure in Iran, which violates the Geneva Conventions.

“I realized there’s no way that you could interpret the international laws as saying that you’re allowed to strike civilian bridges, but in reality, if the president wants to blow up bridges, the lawyers will find a way to say that it is OK to do it, and nobody anywhere up or down the chain of command ever stops and says no,” the service member said.

It’s not just the Iran war that has service members questioning their morals. Some military personnel are troubled by U.S. airstrikes on so-called “drug boats” in the Southern hemisphere under Operation Southern Spear, believing they violate international law.

Another anonymous service member told MS NOW that they weren’t sure if the weapons they loaded onto planes on an aircraft carrier in the Caribbean Sea would be used against civilians, and they began to believe they were causing harm in their duties. Those concerns are not unfounded, as the Department of Defense has admitted that it does not know who is aboard the boats it is bombing.

In all, MS NOW spoke to five anonymous members of the military who object to their orders under this administration, and they want no part of it.

Rising Number of U.S. Troops Seek Exit Over Trump’s Wars, International Law Violations
Interview with Steve Woolford, resource counselor with the Fayetteville, North Carolina Quaker House, conducted by Scott Harris

    September 2, 2026

In recent days, the U.S. military targeted Iranian forces in the Strait of Hormuz, the first U.S. strike on Iran in over a month. Iran retaliated by striking U.S. forces based in Jordan and in the United Arab Emirates. President Trump is threatening more strikes against Iran in the coming days. This escalation in Trump’s unpopular war comes as the heads of the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force have reportedly warned Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that prolonging the war against Iran is unsustainable, as it weakens America’s ability to respond to threats elsewhere around the world.

Recent turmoil inside the Pentagon was underscored by Army Secretary Dan Driscoll’s resignation, stepping down after months of intensifying friction with Hegseth’s ongoing purge of experienced Army leaders. This comes as The Washington Post reported that several right-wing veterans with big online followings have been given secret Pentagon jobs to promote Hegseth’s agenda and attack Trump administration critics.

As Trump’s war in Iran enters its seventh month, there’s been a major increase in the number of U.S. military service members seeking conscientious objector status due to rising concerns about violations of international law regarding civilian infrastructure targeted in Iran and over 200 people killed in strikes on alleged drug smuggling boats in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean. Between The Lines’ Scott Harris spoke with Steve Woolford, a resource counselor with Quaker House in Fayetteville, North Carolina and at the GI Rights Hotline. Here he describes the concerns of soldiers calling the hotline for advice on their options to exit the military.

STEVE WOOLFORD: We are having one of our busiest years ever in the 25 years that I’ve been a counselor with Quaker House. And this year in particular, we have had the two busiest months that we’ve ever had in that 25 years, and those coincided with the start of the war in Iran. And I think that’s because that war is very unpopular with service members. So we still got a lot of the regular calls we get day in and day out. But by far, the majority of that increase was people who were upset for multiple reasons with this particular conflict and just don’t want to be part of it.

SCOTT HARRIS: And I’ve read that there’s growing concern inside the military, not only with the war in Iran, but the targeting of fishing boats, allegedly drug smuggling boats in the Caribbean and Pacific, where right now we have a tally of 68 strikes and last I read 227 people being killed without any evidence being presented to the connection these people may have had with the drug smuggling. So there’s concerns about that.

There’s concerns about international law among those serving in the Navy and Air Force when it comes to bombing what they are concerned are civilian infrastructure that could violate international law. And then of course there’s the whole range of things that the former Fox News Weekend host Pete Hegseth, who now calls himself the secretary of war, that seemed to be running against a lot of opposition in the U.S. military, both the long-term and enlisted men and women who are part of the service.

There’s a wide range of things here, but maybe Steve, since you’re the one talking to these folks, maybe you can run down a summary of some of the most frequent complaints and concerns you’re hearing about.

STEVE WOOLFORD: There does seem to be a pattern of events that callers have talked to us about that have been very troubling to them. And for a lot of people, this started even earlier, with the conflict in Palestine. And some people are surprised by that because it wasn’t our troops doing the fighting, but I think a lot of military people had access to footage of what was happening in Palestine and it was really upsetting to them just to see it. But also to feel like in their eyes, their government was on the side of backing what they saw as a genocide. And so that led to a lot of distrust of the government by people in the military. I think they’ll draw conclusions like if our government’s going to support this country committing a genocide, well, certainly it would have no hesitations about sending me into a genocide, or at least they had doubts. I don’t know if I should say it’s certain for everyone, but people had doubts and concerns.

And so there’s people who are already questioning when they’re seeing those events. And then we had a huge spike in calls when the government started sending National Guard members into U.S. cities. And we had a lot of calls from people saying things like, “Look, I signed up to defend the country, but I didn’t sign up to point a rifle at other U.S. citizens, especially people who look like they’re doing First Amendment legal things.” And I also had calls from people in the California National Guard, some people might have a picture in their mind of who the members are, but there’s quite a few members who themselves perhaps weren’t born in the United States or whose parents and relatives weren’t born in the United States. And so for them, the idea that they were being sent in to help ICE deport people from their own community, some of whom they might even be related to, was another upsetting event in this chain.

Then there were people watching the things you just talked about in Venezuela. And if you took one of these things by itself, I think it’d be troubling. But when people see one after another, they’re really concerned. And then when the war in Iran started, I think people were so ready to distrust the motivations and when there really weren’t any motivations given, it really just seemed to lead to all kinds of opposition from people in the military of “what are we doing here? This just doesn’t make any sense. We don’t see any purpose or point to this.”

Look, I hate war, and I despise the fact that humans are so flawed that they cannot resolve their differences without resorting to killing each other. When I read the articles you posted, it sounds like tremendous numbers of American military personnel are leaving the service as conscientious objectors. I wish that were true, but it is simply false information. Take a look at this headline you posted and match it up with the facts.

Conscientious Objectors Trying to Flee Military Skyrocket Under Trump
U.S. troops are reaching their breaking point as they say recent orders challenge their moral beliefs.
Here are the facts from Quaker House, the organization MSNBC is using as a source of their Skyrocketing numbers. The hotline received 429 inquiries in March 2026 and 440 inquiries in April 2026. Counsellor Lenore Yarger noted that these figures do not reflect the total volume, as there were 30 individuals actively going through the application process at the time of reporting.

So there were fewer than 900 calls (inquiries) and only 30 people going through the application process from a total population of over 2.1 million military personnel. To say that the troops are reaching a breaking point is nothing more than a blatant lie. American Military actually filing to become conscientious objectors for the period is 0.0014 percent

I wish that people would turn away from war; I wish these headlines were true, but they are sadly about as fake news as it gets. It is not hard to understand why Trump would remove both CNN and MSNBC from the Press Corps when they so obviously make up news stories to fit an agenda that they are pushing.

A poster above wrote that USA military members who wished to quit just "can't". I'm not sure what that is about exactly. Are they severely punished if they just walk away, or refuse to carry on orders? Personally, I could NOT follow orders to obliterate civilians and soldiers in a war that my side started unprovoked. Thinking of all the Venezuelans that USA forces murdered, and the capture of Maduro who is still in USA jail on the basis of false charges. This is criminal.
