Ramzan Kadyrov has been re-elected leader of Chechnya with 99.85% of the vote, up from 99.73% in 2021.
Clearly, his efforts to win over the undecided are bearing fruit.

An interesting takeaway from Russia’s election is the major political turnaround in the Far East, a region that for years had been considerably less receptive to United Russia than much of the rest of the country.
The most obvious example is Khabarovsk, where in 2018, LDPR candidate Sergei Furgal defeated the incumbent United Russia governor by almost 70% to 28% and a year later, the LDPR swept 30 of 36 seats in the regional parliament, while United Russia was reduced to just two.
Furgal’s 2020 arrest (on charges related to mafia activity in the 2000s), then kicked off months of unusually large anti-Kremlin demonstrations in Khabarovsk, reinforcing the region’s reputation as one of Russia’s strongest centres of protests (along with its reputation for off-the-scale corruption), but now the picture is very different.
With all precinct protocols counted, United Russia has taken 48.16% in Khabarovsk Krai, with the Communists on 16.49% and the LDPR on only 12.79%, plus United Russia candidates also won both of the region’s single-member Duma constituencies.
