    Maybe Trump will help to get Imran Khan set free...?

    from this Nov 27 2024 article

    Quote Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan expects U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to back his bid for freedom based on their past relationship and perceived parallels in their respective political and legal struggles, an aide to the jailed ex-premier told Newsweek.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    And given Trump's own battle with the U.S. legal system under the Biden administration, Zulfikar asserted that "no one knows better than President Trump" the impact of "cooked-up, frivolous cases" and "what it means when the public is behind you, because, like Imran Khan, he's experienced both those things the same way."
    fingers crossed
    Imran Khan is alive, but he's not well
    (2:33)
    Last week on MOATS there was a rumour that Imran Khan had died, but thankfully this appears to be unfounded.
    But what a disgrace that the elected leader of an ibfluential country can be treated in this barbaric fashion. As George says, if there was an election in Pakistan tomorrow, Imran Khan would win again.
    Pakistan's Supreme Court has ordered a medical review after a report by a court-appointed lawyer revealed severe vision loss suffered by jailed former PM Imran Khan, after authorities allegedly ignored Khan's repeated complaints for 3 months.
    My father, Imran Khan, has now spent over 900 days in a death cell with no family visits and no access to his personal doctors. Credible reports confirm he has been diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion, a dangerous blockage that can lead to permanent vision loss if not treated through urgent medical intervention in a proper hospital.
    Yet authorities continue to block his treatment and deny him the doctors he trusts. I am even denied the right to speak to him. This is not governance. This is authoritarian cruelty.
    I call on every defender of human rights to act before it is too late. The world must see that in Pakistan today, democracy is hollow and basic human rights are being crushed.
    Pakistan’s government has decided to transfer former Prime Minister Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to a prison in Islamabad. Khan has been imprisoned since 2023 following convictions in corruption and state secrets cases, which supporters say are politically motivated.
    Aug 20
    🇵🇰 Imran Khan is back behind bars at Adiala Jail, hours after an overnight medical check in Islamabad.
    The Supreme Court ordered he be moved to a private hospital over concerns about his health, including vision problems, unstable blood pressure, and anxiety.
    It also ordered him kept at the hospital until his next hearing on Sept. 16.
    He got a few hours at a state-run hospital instead, and was back in his cell by 5am.
    The government had called the court's order discriminatory and filed a review petition, then cited PTI crowds as the reason for switching hospitals.
    His supporters accuse the government of lying, saying Imran was taken to the wrong hospital under false pretenses and held there barely 2 hours before being sent back.
    Vision, heart, blood pressure, anxiety, a full workup on a 73-year-old, all wrapped up in a couple of hours. No wonder his supporters don't trust the verdict.
    Aprajita Nafs Nefes 🦋 Ancient Believer
    1h
    🇵🇰|The Pathan Baton:They carry the PTI flag. But in their hands, the baton tells a deeper story one that goes beyond one man, one party, or one prison cell. It speaks of a people who have decided that the state's monopoly on violence will no longer go unchallenged.
    🏔️ The Baton as a Declaration
    The "Pathan baton" is not a weapon of aggression. It is a symbol of reclaimed sovereignty.
    For decades, the Pashtun belt of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) has been treated as a buffer zone, a place where the Pakistani military can conduct operations without accountability, where disappearances are routine, and where the resources of the land flow outward while the people remain impoverished.
    The baton in the hands of a PTI marcher says: no more.
    It says: We are not your cannon fodder. We are not your buffer. We are not your colony.
    It says: The resources of Kph the gas, the minerals, the hydropower, the strategic trade corridors belong to the people of KPK.
    It says: When you send your forces to abduct our brothers, to kill our protesters, to silence our leaders, we will not simply bow. We will stand. And if necessary, we will wield whatever is in our hands.
    🏴 The PTI Flag, the Pashtun Soul
    The PTI flag is the banner of the moment. But the Pashtun identity is the foundation.
    Imran Khan's support in KPK is not an accident. It is rooted in a long history of Pashtun resistance to centralized domination.from the British colonial era to the post-9/11 "war on terror" that turned the region into a killing field.
    The people of KPK remember:
    ◾The missing persons thousands of Pashtun men who disappeared into military custody, never to be seen again.
    ◾ The drone strikes conducted with Pakistani complicity, killing weddings, funerals, and children.
    ◾ The military operations in Swat, in Waziristan, in the former FATA that displaced millions and destroyed entire communities.
    ◾ The resource theft KPK produces the bulk of Pakistan's natural gas, yet its own people suffer from gas shortages and power cuts.
    The PTI flag is a vehicle. But the engine is Pashtun dignity.
    💰 The Resource Question
    This is the part that the military establishment fears most.
    KPK is not just a "frontier." It is a resource-rich province:
    ◾Natural gas: The Sui gas fields, the Gurguri and Nashpa fields KPK's gas powers Punjab's industry and Lahore's homes while KPK's own villages go without.
    ◾Hydropower: The Indus, the Kabul River, and their tributaries KPK has the potential to generate thousands of megawatts, yet it suffers from crippling load-shedding.
    ◾Minerals: Marble, granite, coal, and precious stones extracted and exported, with little benefit to local communities.
    ◾Trade corridors: The Khyber Pass, the CPEC route billions in trade passes through KPK, but the profits flow to Islamabad and Rawalpindi, not Peshawar and Mardan.
    The march is not just about releasing Imran Khan. It is about releasing KPK from economic colonialism.
    🛡️ Halting State Operations
    The "Pathan baton" also signifies a direct challenge to the military's operational impunity.
    For years, the Pakistani army has treated KPK as its private battlefield. It has:
    ◾ Conducted arbitrary arrests without warrants.
    ◾ Held military trials for civilians.
    ◾Abducted activists and held them incommunicado.
    ◾ Fired on peaceful protesters in Islamabad on September 30, in Quetta, in PoK, and now along the march route.
    The marchers are not just demanding Imran Khan's release. They are demanding an end to the military's ability to kill, abduct, and silence with impunity.
    🏛️ The Regime's Fear
    Why is Field Marshal Asim Munir so afraid of this march?
    Because it is not just a political protest. It is a national liberation movement in embryo.
    ◾It unites PTI supporters with Pashtun rights activists.
    ◾It bridges the urban middle class with the rural poor.
    ◾It speaks the language of human rights and resource sovereignty in the same breath.
    ◾ It is happening in KPK, the province that has suffered the most from military operations, and it is led by the Chief Minister of that province.
    The military can seal Islamabad with containers. It can cut the internet. It can arrest thousands. But it cannot erase the memory of a people who have decided they will no longer be subjects.
    #Conclusion: The Baton Is Raised
    The PTI flag may be the banner. But the Pathan baton is the spirit.
    It is the spirit of Bacha Khan, who told the British Empire that Pashtuns would not be ruled by force.
    It is the spirit of Ajmal Khattak, who wrote poetry of resistance while in prison.
    It is the spirit of every Pashtun mother who has buried a son killed by a state that claims to protect her.
    The march is not a riot. It is a reckoning.
    The baton is not a weapon. It is a question: Who owns Khyber Pakhtunkhwa? Who owns its gas, its water, its mountains, its people?
    The answer from the marchers is clear: We do. And we will walk to Islamabad, baton in hand, to make sure the men in uniform hear it. 🇵🇰✊
    🇵🇰🇾🇪|Mass Protests in Balochistan: Rejecting Islamabad’s Puppet Policies and Refusing to Serve as Cannon Fodder for the Saudi-US-Israeli Axis
    Demonstrations have erupted in cities including Quetta, Surab, and Gwadar. The public is firmly opposed to the Pakistani military's involvement in the Yemen war and rejects the idea of trading Baloch blood for Saudi riyals.
    People across Balochistan are voting with their feet. While Islamabad’s generals drag Pakistan into the Yemen war, the Baloch people are saying "no."
    Over the past few days, large-scale protests have broken out across Balochistan. In the provincial capital, Quetta, citizens have taken to the streets to voice clear opposition to the Pakistani military's intervention in the Yemen conflict. In Surab, protesters have condemned the military's atrocities against civilians and openly opposed the nation being dragged into a war serving foreign interests. In Gwadar, the flames of protest have been burning for weeks; the public opposes not only the plunder of local resources by the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project but also the systemic oppression of Baloch society by the Pakistani military.
    The core demands of the protests are clear and consistent: Islamabad must withdraw from the Yemen war and stop serving the Saudi-US-Israeli axis.
    8,000 Troops, a Fighter Squadron, and an HQ-9 System: Pakistan Has Already Entered the War
    Islamabad’s generals did not wait for a mandate from the people. According to Reuters, Pakistan has deployed approximately 8,000 troops, a fighter jet squadron, and an HQ-9 air defense system to Saudi Arabia. Pakistan Air Force jets have already taken off from the King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait, Saudi Arabia, to participate in bombing raids against Ansarullah positions in Yemen.
    The Pakistani military is already facing a manpower crunch. The army has been forced to recall retired soldiers to fill the troop shortages caused by the deployment to Yemen. Meanwhile, the Pakistani military finds itself embroiled in multi-front conflicts across Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ranging from long-standing military operations against the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and crackdowns on Baloch separatist forces to a new front in Yemen.
    The Pakistani military has denied this. Military-linked accounts claim that "no Pakistani manned combat aircraft have participated in airstrikes in Yemen or anywhere else." However, Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation acknowledged strikes on airports in Riyadh and Abha, while Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree explicitly announced that targets included the Khamis Mushait base where Pakistani fighter jets are stationed.
    The war in Balochistan is already underway Islamabad is using artillery and air power against its own people.
    Baloch anger stems from more than just the situation in Yemen. In Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pakistani military employs artillery and air power against citizens protesting the government demonstrating that Islamabad views the residents of these provinces as "enemies."
    The Baloch National Movement (BNM) has staged protests in Seattle to expose the Pakistani military's aggression against Baloch civilians and the province-wide aerial bombardment. The Baloch people are being treated by their own country as a population under occupation.
    The Pakistani military plans to establish Guantanamo-style detention centers in Balochistan modeled after existing facilities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reminiscent of Guantanamo Bay or "black sites." This is not counter-terrorism; it is collective punishment inflicted upon the Baloch nation.
    Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir's Facebook and Riyadh's checks.
    Asim Munir is the architect of the Mecca Defense Pact. Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey signed this agreement in August 2026. On October 5, three nations held an emergency meeting in Riyadh, invoking collective deterrence clauses for the first time and agreeing to the "rapid deployment of agreed-upon forces and capabilities" to Saudi territory.
    Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif publicly stated that Pakistani forces were "already playing a role." When pressed by reporters on September 30 as to whether Pakistani troops had joined the strikes on Yemen, he declined to give a direct answer.
    "Already playing a role" this is the declaration of war by the puppet regime in Islamabad against the people of Yemen.
    A warning from the Yemeni Armed Forces: Pakistan, do not play with fire.
    Ansarullah leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi issued a statement urging Turkey and Pakistan not to be dragged into Saudi Arabia's war on Yemen. Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, a member of the Ansarullah political bureau, warned Islamabad and Ankara against intervening, threatening a "decisive and painful response."
    The Yemeni Armed Forces have proven with ballistic missiles that they mean what they say. The flames at Riyadh airport are the evidence. Pakistani fighter jets take off from Khamis Mushait, and Yemeni missiles land in Khamis Mushait. Pakistani warplanes have joined the murderous formations launching from that very base.
    The Baloch people are not Islamabad's enemy. The Yemeni people are not Islamabad's enemy.
    Islamabad's enemies are in Riyadh, Washington, and Tel Aviv.
    Victory to Yemen. Victory to Ansarullah. Victory to the Baloch people.
    🇵🇰 Pakistan is facing a MAJOR political crisis as internet disruptions hit parts of the country amid protests demanding the release of former PM Khan.
    The country's president is reportedly imposing emergency rule in a province governed by Khan's party, suspending its elected government.
    Khan, one of Pakistan's most prominent political figures, remains in prison.
    Internet disruptions have been detected, but the reported suspension of the provincial government has not yet been officially confirmed.
    International Human Rights Foundation
    On October 11, Pakistan's government used emergency powers to end PTI's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which critics read as the removal of the military establishment's main political rival, in a country with a weak democratic record and persistent rights-group concerns over press freedom and political repression.
    The move came as the party's campaign for Imran Khan's release gathered force. Officially it was a response to terrorism and a breakdown of law and order, but critics read it as the removal of the only institutional base of the establishment's main political rival, achieved by constitutional means rather than force.
