The video of this post is here.

In September, 1966, I was eight years old and I lived in Houston, as my father worked in NASA’s Mission Control Room. The week before the Gemini 11 mission, a new TV show debuted, titled Star Trek. My family had a professional interest in the new show, one could say, and for the first time in my life, I was allowed to stay up past 8 PM so that I could watch the show. I have been a Trekkie ever since (although the recent series have been disappointing). Although I never thought of it that way before I wrote this sentence, Star Trek may have well been the first seed planted in my mind of what I call the Fifth Epoch today.

Until now, I have always called the event when my family changed its diet to whole food when I was 12 as the beginning of my awakening process, but I now think that Star Trek might get some credit for it. In trying to help my readers understand what I mean by the Fifth Epoch, I have used Star Trek as an example, especially The Next Generation.

My father’s IQ was twice my mother’s, which created strange dynamics in the family, with children who were either mentally gifted or mentally disabled. My mother gave me the bad habit of watching TV and reading the tabloids that she brought home. I gave up tabloids at age 13 (I only read it for the fun facts, and did not care about celebrity gossip), and I gave up watching TV in my first semester of college, as I could not keep pulling the straight A’s while watching 20-30 hours of TV a week. For the next 15 years, I rarely watched TV, but when I lived with my mother after college, I watched a Star Trek marathon one weekend.

I was still a movie junkie and watched the Star Trek movies. During my days with Dennis Lee, I heard of a new Star Trek show. But I didn’t watch TV, even if I had the time for it. That changed in 1992, when my wife watched the season finale of the fifth season of The Next Generation (“TNG”). The next year, we began watching TNG, (and Deep Space Nine, as those were the days of Peak Trek) and for many years, the only TV shows that I watched were Star Trek shows. That did not change until around 2017 or so, when this golden age of TV finally spurred me to watch shows with my wife. We watch an hour or two each evening. TV today is a far cry from what I grew up with. The TV shows I see today are for adults, not children, like it was when I watched Gilligan’s Island. TV-production quality today is nearly what movies have, and movie stars have largely crossed over to TV. There used to be quite a divide between TV and movies when I was young, but that distinction has largely vanished today. I rarely go to movie theaters anymore (once every few years, and even then, I wonder why I did it – I might have seen my last movie in a theater).

Even as visionary a show as Star Trek was still a product of its times, and Captain Kirk rarely met a female humanoid that he could not seduce. William Riker inherited that lusty orientation in TNG, but Captain Picard was something different. In his eulogy to Patrick Stewart yesterday, William Shatner wrote that Captain Picard “stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him.” Gene Roddenberry subscribed to the same channeled magazine that I did in the early days of TNG. I can easily see the influence of material like that on Roddenberry’s vision.

Only in recent years did I become aware of the idea that the stories told in literature, movies, and TV are at their best when they increase human empathy (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7). I agree with that idea.

Stewart got the role of a lifetime when he played Captain Picard. When I think of the Fifth Epoch and how people will behave, I often think of Picard’s character and how he always tried to give people and other life forms (and even holographic projections) what they wanted. In many ways, even the best of Star Trek falls far short of depicting the Fifth Epoch, but it is a giant step toward it.

I am attaching a picture from one of my lifetime’s happiest moments, when I stood on the Enterprise’s bridge while my wife sat in the captain’s chair. That Las Vegas attraction was a glorious mecca for Trekkies. That picture was taken the year before it closed.

I have watched and read all manner of commentary on TNG and interviews with people who were on the show and various other personnel, such as writers, directors, and other staff. Stewart brought a polished professionalism to the cast, which raised the bar for everybody. Stewart discussed the psychological problems that he had with playing Picard, such as separating himself from the character. Picard did not originally want to do the series Picard, but he cited a Las Vegas policeman who told him how Star Trek was a beacon of optimism in the degrading milieu that he worked in.

Few actors ever had the opportunity to play a character like Captain Picard, and Stewart rightfully considered it the pinnacle of his career. R.I.P., Sir Patrick. Well done.

    Best,

    Wade

The video of this post is here.

When Dennis Lee got out of prison in 1994, his wreck of a mouth had even fewer teeth than before he went in, and when I next saw him, when he visited me in 1995, he had dentures. His teeth were one of many casualties of his journey. Soon after he was out of prison, I talked to his wife, Alison, and she laughed at how Dennis’s missing teeth made him look like a hillbilly.

In 1994, my trucking company’s parent decided to do a system conversion for all five of its companies. I wrote a little about my trucking days in a recent post. I warned my CFO at the parent company about doing a conversion, and two years later, I was worn out. But I also had my career’s epiphany in the spring of 1996. It was a two-fold realization. The first was to take my company paperless. Piggybacked on top of that was a way to get every truck driver in the USA home every night, instead of the million people who lived in their trucks. Nobody above me in the corporate hierarchy understood what I was talking about regarding going paperless. I was a generation ahead of my time on that. On getting everybody home every night, 30 years later, that idea is still way ahead of its time. Being too far ahead of one’s time can be frustrating. If my trucking organization had understood what I was talking about, it might still be in business.

By early 1996, I was at the end of my rope and went on Prozac, which was a nightmare. I stepped down in June and had my protégé take over (and went off Prozac). He collapsed in my office only two weeks into his tenure and soon quit the company. Then there was a series of controllers in that chair, and their negligence caused an accounting scandal that took down the entire organization in 2001, as thousands of lives were impacted and many were wrecked. It was all unnecessary.

At the beginning of 1996, Brian O’Leary published his first free-energy book and I became his biggest fan, as he began his ride as the Paul Revere of Free Energy. Around the same time, Dennis began his barnstorming tours of the USA, which angered the sitting president, Bill Clinton. I attended Dennis’s Columbus show in February with my protégé, and seeing the Amish contingent at the show was an unforgettable memory. After the show, I told Dennis and his entourage that the Wright brothers were ignored for five years after they first flew, and Dennis made it part of his show. Soon afterward, Alison flew me to New Jersey to advise her on getting her accounting operation off the ground, as Dennis’s barnstorming began flooding money into the company. Little did I suspect that I would be running that operation before the year ended. I hadn’t seen Dennis’s daughters for several years, and they were almost grown up.

Brian soon called me, to have me arrange for him to meet Dennis, as they spoke at the same New Age expo. It was the only time that they met. Dennis thought that Brian was naïve, which Brian readily admitted near his life’s end.

Dennis had a show in Cleveland that summer, and it was about the time that I read Dennis's book, The Alternative, which had those revelations of why we moved to Ventura and the CIA’s billion-dollar offer to fold the operation. Dennis repeated the conversation that he had with the CIA man at that show (“We will put a one on the check and you can put on the zeroes”). That was not long after William Colby died, days after trying to transfer free-energy technology to Steven Greer’s organization.

That spring, my Justice Department colleague told me about how he interceded in the death threat that an American automobile company made to a man who invented a 100-MPG carburetor. They just add a couple of zeroes when they need to. By then, my close friend had been given his underground technology show by a dissident faction of the global elite. That is what it is like, to play at those levels.

When my wife and I visited Professor Wayne and his wife in the summer of 1994, his life had been ruined from his days with Dennis and he was regretful. But when Dennis began barnstorming, Wayne once again kicked money into Dennis’s effort, which I saw in late 1996, when I took over the accounting operation. Saints are going to saint. Dennis had two tours of the USA in 1996, and the second one ended in September in Philadelphia, where Dennis’s show was held in the arena where the 76ers play basketball. Five thousand people attended, which is the largest free-energy gathering in history.

Dennis had hitched his wagon to Yull Brown, and Wayne and I had an adventure in picking up Yull from the airport for the show. Yull came prepared to do his transmutation experiment for the show, and it is the only time that I handled radioactive material. After originally giving permission for the demonstration, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission revoked its permission and they were planning to arrest Dennis and Yull if they tried it at the show. Before the show, more than 30 people in Dennis’s organization tried to entice Yull away from Dennis.

Immediately after the show, we took Yull to meet Al Gore at the White House. I later read the letter from Gore, which begged off of further involvement, calling Yull’s process “too dangerous.” Many years later, I read Greer quote Gore making the same “too dangerous” excuse for not getting involved with free-energy technology. Again, retail elites know full well about free-energy and other exotic technology, which the media will always dismiss if it even acknowledges it, similar to how it treated the Wright brothers.

In October, 1996, I spent the month writing my first website, before I went back to work for Dennis in November. The day after the Philadelphia show, Mr. Skeptic began his skeptical career. I contacted him the day after I published my site, and Mr. Skeptic eventually confirmed my worst suspicions about the “skeptics” and then some. He stalked me on the Internet for more than a decade with his attacks.

A few weeks into my tenure with Dennis in my second stint, my bookkeeper showed me a letter that our phone company sent us. It was to notify us that the USA’s Justice Department had subpoenaed our phone records six months previously. They gagged the phone company from notifying us. The initial gag order lasted three months, and when that expired, they renewed it for another three months. When I saw that, it felt like the sharks were circling once again. The Justice Department’s Philadelphia office subpoenaed our records, coincidentally where Mr. Skeptic lived. I am about half convinced that Mr. Skeptic was on somebody’s payroll as he relentlessly attacked Dennis for more than a decade.

There were many wild events during my second stint with Dennis, but the strangest was that when I joined Dennis, he was involved with a group of Christian businessmen who alleged that they were the trustees of a trillion-dollar trust. I saw a Canadian news clip about them. When the Soviet Union was collapsing and starving Soviet soldiers were guarding nuclear missile silos (and selling nuclear warheads on the black market), that group gave $1 billion of food and supplies to the Soviet military. The reporter interviewed the head of the organization, asking who the heck they were to give a $1 billion to the Soviet Union. The head said that they were “just Christian businessmen.”

Those trustees alleged that soon after they gave the $1 billion of food and supplies to the Soviet Union, the international banking system froze all of their money. I talked to the trustee once. He told me that the trust had $1 trillion in assets and $980 billion in liabilities, with “only” $20 billion in equity and about that much in cash. When the banks froze their money, they were suddenly destitute.

Studying the international bankers was one of my many areas of study since 1990, but that was one of the strangest things that I ever heard. I asked my accounting and CFO pals if they had ever heard of such a thing, and nobody had. Dennis actually gave the trustees $10,000 one day, to keep food on their table. The trustees said that they wanted to give Dennis billions of dollars, but Dennis ended up giving them money, instead.

Around the same time that I came aboard Dennis’s company, he was contacted by a representative of Indian nations in California, who called him humanity’s best hope. They said that they were using their sovereign nation status to invest in bank loans to each other, which yielded 40% interest each year. But they had to give half of their earnings to charity, so Dennis was their target charity. Again, I had never heard of such a thing. Dennis met with a banker who advised the Indian nations in his Manhattan penthouse suite. He announced that he was the sixth most powerful man on Earth.

As I will get to in a later post, that Christian trust and Indian nations seems to have been part of a sting operation to entrap us, as the global elite took the game to new levels.
Dennis had me get my passport updated so that I could go to London to close one of his deals. Dennis couldn’t go, because he was still on parole. Dennis was off of parole when he began barnstorming, but the officials illegally put him back on parole. I learned that officials can often just make it up as they go along. If I had gone to London, the odds were likely good that I would have never come back.

What the heck was I doing there? Hadn’t I already learned my lesson during my first stint with Dennis? Inventors weren’t the answer, but Dennis had hitched his star to Yull. Yull soon betrayed Dennis, and then Dennis located Victor Fischer once Yull took the money and ran. Professor Wayne was staying with me for two weeks when Fischer came aboard, and we were both distinctly unenthusiastic about Fischer. We saw what he did in Ventura. When Fischer eventually betrayed Dennis, years later, I was not surprised, but Dennis was. When I visited Dennis and Alison in 2013, and Dennis told me what Fischer had done (took the money and ran), I told Dennis that it was no surprise, as I had seen what Fischer had done in Ventura. Alison then said that it was one of Dennis’s weaknesses, of expecting the best in people when they did not deserve that faith.

In March of 1997, Dennis and I spoke at Department of Energy (“DOE”) hearings about the nuclear waste issue. We were trying to interest them in Brown’s Gas as a neutralization solution. The most enlightening part of that experience was when the DOE man who ran the hearings approached us to tell us that nuclear-waste management was a racket.

When Wayne stayed with me, he plucked Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States off of my bookshelf and read it each evening. That was something to see Wayne read that. Wayne was steeped in American capitalism and would be called a paleoconservative today. I have a lot of respect for their ideology, but all political stripes are limited, in one way or another, as they are all mired in scarcity. But Wayne had a harsh awakening experience in Ventura, like I did, which ruined and shortened his life. Wayne told me that I should teach a class in iconoclasm, like Zinn’s book was. That is kind of what I have done in with my work over the past 30 years.

As I have stated plenty, I really should not have gone back to work for Dennis. Not only was I in bad shape after that five-year grind at that trucking company, I really didn’t believe in the businessman’s path to free energy any longer. I really had not believed in it since Ventura. I was not fitting in with Dennis’s right-wing, populist approach. Dennis let me go home to Seattle in March, 1997, and I have lived here ever since.

    Best,

    Wade
