This seems to be a pretty good guide...

UPDATE: Sorry, this seems to be same guide as Teakai post. Apologize for doublepost!

WHAT TO DO WITH LESS THAN 3 DAYS TO A NUCLEAR DISASTER!

This instructional guide is for American families preparing for imminent nuclear terrorism or nuclear attack and radioactive fallout.

Understandably, if you are reading this, you are anxious to take action right now, but to assure that what you do with your remaining time, before disaster strikes, is truly effective, you must first embrace a realistic 'Plan of Action'. Careful study of this action guide, here and now, will assure that you make the most of your available options, resources, and time, with a minimum of wasteful panic. Read it all the way through first, at least once, THEN TAKE EFFECTIVE ACTION WITH CONFIDENCE... FAST!

    Guide:
    http://outlands.tripod.com/3dayguide/
Hi Incider, I quickly skimmed through the guide. It has some very good and basic information. Thank-you. I particularly liked the info. about Iodine.
Everyone probably has that already in their medicine cabinet. It's something one can do without any ill side effects even if there is a possibility of being exposed to fallout.

Quote When fallout is first anticipated, even though it has not yet arrived, have everybody begin wearing their dust protector filter masks. Everyone should commence taking their Potassium Iodide (KI) or Potassium Iodate (KIO3) tablets for thyroid protection against cancer causing radioactive iodine, a major constituent of nuclear weapons explosions. Or, if no tablets available, you can topically (on the skin) apply an iodine solution for a similar protective effect. (WARNING: Iodine solutions are NEVER to be ingested or swallowed.) For adults, paint 8 ml of a 2 percent tincture of Iodine on the abdomen or forearm, ideally at least 2 hours prior to possible exposure. For children 3 to 18, but under 150 pounds, only half that amount painted on daily, or 4 ml. For children under 3 but older than a month, half again, or 2 ml. For newborns to 1 month old, half it again, or just 1 ml. If your iodine is stronger than 2%, reduce the dosage accordingly. Absorption through the skin is not as reliable a dosing method as using the tablets, but tests show that it will still be very effective for most. Do not use if allergic to iodine. If at all possible, inquire of your doctor NOW if there is any reason why anybody in your household should not use iodine in a future nuclear emergency, just to be sure.
    Blessings,
    Yiola

    G'day Teakai,

Thanks for that. I sat there thinking about it for ages and couldn't work out why down wind was best.
    I wasn't having a go. I was really confused...
So upwind bad when hunting, good when radioactive cloud floating around...

Apparently, some of the staff were injecting water into the reactor core to cool it down when the accident occurred.

I honestly have nothing but pure admiration for the staff in those power stations, valiantly trying to keep the reactors at bay without electricity to run the coolant pumps. I can't begin to imagine the sheer terror that they must be feeling about now trying to do their jobs. Once this all dies down and things start to rebuild, they should all get awards for service to their country. I send immense amounts of strength their way for the job that lies ahead, they'll need it....

I was wondering, dear Avalon, did anyone else think that giant spiral in Japan's sea, generated by the earthquake, was the activation of a stargate--being that it was, in fact March 9...could it have anything to do with heralding in the 9th wave (as in Mayan Unity Consciousness)? No pun intended.

Please post your feelings on this and any insight.

    Thank you.
It is almost certainly just an eddy in a harbour. At the very beginning of the video, it is clear that this is a harbour inside or behind a breakwater. Somehow, this got all blown out of proportion by some newscasters here in the USA, with comments about a crack in the earth's crust and water flowing down like a drain, etc. Just shows the lack of discernment in the mainstream media. It was referred to over and over as being "in the ocean off the coast of Japan" while just showing the close up, and not showing that it was in fact in a harbour. Since when is something behind a breakwater considered "in the ocean?" Whether this is simple sensationalism, or something more deliberately misleading is an open question.

    SKI,

I don't know which plant you are nearest to, but . . .

Quote URGENT: Concerns of core partially melting at ***ushima nuke plant
    TOKYO, March 12, Kyodo

The core at ***ushima No. 1 nuclear power plant's No. 1 reactor may be partially melting, the nuclear safety agency said Saturday.

Radioactive substance cesium was detected around the reactor, it said.

This is the govs nice way of informing the public.

If it is "partially melting" IT IS MELTING. If that's truly the case, the only way they can prevent "The China Syndrome" now is to encase the core in TONS of cement (Chernobyl). But for some reason I am having bad feelings about their ability to do that under the current circumstances.

Is this the plant that you are near?

    Listen: Stay calm. It's important.

OK, you don't see smoke rising in the direction of your plant?

In your predicament you don't have time to read books or grocery shopping. So do this:

Water and food you need, maybe for several days. Use tin containers if at all possible. If not there's no time now to worry about it.

With the quakes still occurring I would not recommend staying in the house. The best place for you guys to stay is UNDER YOUR VAN. Gather up everything and anything you can find to fill the gap between the ground and the van, as entirely as possible. Take bedding, food, and water with you. This is going to be your igloo and will offer the best protection under your circumstances.

If you don't have time to set that up then stay inside the van. But I gotta tell you that glass windows offer no shield whatsoever!

Under no circumstances inhale or ingest the open air. Always use a filter - rags, towels, etc. Whatever you can find.

Keep all bare skin covered at all times.

If this really happens you will have to stay in your igloo for 3 to 5 days, or until help arrives.

This info is from NBC Training.

Stay calm. Your wife and others will be much stronger.

    Now Get Busy NOW!

    Love You Man!

    Harley

This map-shot was taken during the last Eclipse which coincided with this past Winter's Solstice.

The total number of quakes shown here was by-far the highest that I had ever seen in over three years of monitoring these maps.

Now look at this current map. It's over 300 total and still rising.

Oops! While I was trying to help Ski now look what it's up to:

Not to say this sums up my thoughts on this, those are well personified by many posters in this thread. One thought I just got is this: I hope the Japanese whale hunting boats are destroyed(but they are safe either way). One can take the good with the bad. One minor potentially (relatively)positive thing from all this...
