I think I looked at this one before.

If I remember rightly there was talk of it being a big kite and to do with some celebrations. You can hear what sounds like fireworks going off in the back ground. Perhaps I read it in the comments on youtube or something. It is a possible explanation perhaps though (or balloon).

I don't know a lot about CGI... but I would think that it'd be pretty hard to cut/paste an object like this into a skyline with all that fog/smog without making it look really ODD (IMO it didn't look odd at all)

I also thought the "little drone ship" thing seemed pretty realistic too... wouldn't that also be hard to add in using CGI without making it look strange??

I dunno, just my thoughts... and I'm certainly no expert!

It has nothing to do with aliens or ufo's, on that day they are celebrating the day of the lantern, check out wikipedia for special days in china.
So my conclusion is: its a flying lantern or a kite.
