These 10 are much more evolved and echo with today's awakening human consciousness. Some even look like modern spiritual teachings, as for example those from chanelling and aliens messages.

The Essence of Leadership is Vision

Do you have what it takes to sit among the headmen of the Blackfoot? One became a chief or society head in this nation as a result of leadership success or example. Once a chief, one had to hold the best interests of the people at heart. In council, these individual leaders gathered to set the course of the nation. Decisions were reached by consensus, youth acknowledging the wisdom of age and the power of experience valued over the experience of power.

Howard Terpning set out to create Council of Chiefs to impart the importance of visionary leadership. Drawing on research and personal study, he portrays leaders from different warrior societies of the Blackfoot nation meeting in council as they would have appeared in the early 1870s. Terpning explains about this work, " The man standing on the far right has painted part of his face and shoulders with vermilion, which was a sacred color and symbolized blood or life. The standing figure on the near right has white dots painted on his back; these represent hailstones falling down to destroy his enemies. His knife scabbard is more of the design that a trapper or mountain man might carry. The warrior on horseback in the foreground is carrying a banner staff lined with eagle feathers. These so-called flags could be ceremonial in use or employed as a rallying point in battle."

Why do we romanticize or assume all Indians were somehow on a higher consciousness or more peaceful??? They are human just like us. They have or had very beautiful and spiritual attributes just as “we” do. They also were very brutal and went to war to gain control over the best hunting grounds and to become the most “powerful tribe” in the area . . . . just like we do.[/FONT]

These commandments come across, for me, more like gentle reminders.
I love their natural simplicity and daily often connect with one of them.
They are hanging in my kitchen and I can say that, after 12 years, the words have taken root in my life.

Erm we do that for the elite not for our tribes... i can understand Greeks / Americans / Russians / Chinese fighting over territory or over natural resources (hunting grounds) but i cant understand all the above fighting over bank profit ... right?

I dont say fighting is good but at least if you do it for your family then it has some ... "logic" (in the end we will all see the planet as our common ground and stop fighting). Now tho there is no logic and no way out or end.

Exactly.

The way I see it, there are too many people NOT of NA descent pretending that they have even a modicum of indian blood.

These people are dangerous because they inhabit Native American commissions (like in Vermont and NH for example) and they attempt to draw money and resources away from helping those who actually have NA blood!

I know because I have spent HOURS upon HOURS exposing their shady dealings and the state of VT is finally starting to pay attention.

It's time that people stop romanticizing others and come to grips with reality.

The "noble savage" idea is quite possibly the most clever piece of deception created by the white man to hold back NA peoples.

my mother put me on the cherokee role when I was a very young boy. my grandmother is a half-blood cherokee. little fact, our indian ancestors were driven out of the tennessee/georgia area by the invading english, oklahoma was set up as a prison state for indians. it's called the trail of tears, taking land from natives and calling it your own in the name of freedom, americans forget they don't belong in america, it's all indian land stolen by greedy white men from britian. there are so few of us left, men hunted and fished everyday, and women cared for the children and the white man from england thought he could improve on a system like that with his guns and war and fences and trains and smog, and drunkeness and greed - who were the real savages? My awakening to the tragedy of the exterminations of the Native Americans on both continents began in the 1960's. In the 1980's I visited the ancient village sites in Ohio..it was then I got confirmations with visions. I could see through the eyes of the children of these past times but not the adults (why? I don't know, I stood in places where they played or meditated at one time I guess and they left their signature). Call me a nut case and I will agree. One bad vision of a slaughter and a word: town burner, Rogers, I found out later...treated as a hero in Ohio today. Villages were located near springs..they are dry today. Reading tree rings on ancient or rotting logs..what could cause such a shift? Why the certain depressions in a series of stones..human feet did this, idiot, you are walking the easiest path out of this gully!
Then in the 1990's books and evidence hinting at biological extermination in California, New England. Mandan Tribe of Bismarck in 1820 was deliberate. This is bad stuff I am finding out in history.
Then in 2006: 1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus by Charles C. Mann really shook me up. 90% of the indigenous population of the Americas wiped out including Missipippian and Amazonian Cultures by 1600! Now in 2011 I realize that it was a war back then to disable or destroy the Native American Collective paradigm of spiritualism to insert the European Collective paradigm of materialism. Seems to me that is a blatant violation of Free Will, no wonder the Universe is taking action with off planet reincarnates and got us under a microscope or lens if you will. We are going to be in deep do-do if we are going to allow collective slavery where you have two choices: pay materially to live on this planet or die.
I am white, I am ashamed of what transgessions my race has done has done in the past to my Natave American brothers. The guilt of what my fore-fathers has done will probably last for 70 generations before it will be cleansed from the racial memory. My higher self or the consciousness matrix hologram may have may have had a hand in this "cleansing" with the mix of genes: my wife was born in South America has a mix of the Native. My Daughter married a very spiritual Jew, the twins she birthed this year are now in a gene mix with Hebrew Children of Abraham. Racial clemency with the Source is a long and slow process that involves love, life, creation and evolution.

So strange to think that the" Western culture" who pretty much had/has to slog from morn to night just to exist, (unless you were of the wealthy land owner rank in which case you lived off the sweat of the people) thought they had the 'advanced' culture.

Sometimes the lack of our common sense and ability to paint complex topics with very broad strokes astounds me.

Come on guys there were hundreds of Indian Nations and within those nations there were thousands of tribes or “pockets” of each particular Nation. Each Nation was mostly defined by where they lived on the continent and certain characteristics . . . the “tribes” within each nation were further defined by the certain elders or leaders.

Some Indian Nations were extremely peaceful and some were very brutal. Before the “white man” arrived the different Nations were at war with each other. The more peaceful Nations were already being pushed out and thinned by the more aggressive Nations.

To think that all the Native Americans were somehow these all loving, all wise, all ultimate spiritual didn’t fight for possessions or land or control is absurd.

The stronger more aggressive nations promoted war and would “raid” other nations as well as their own neighboring tribes (within their own nation) to “take” that tribes or nations possessions, their WOMEN, their land.

Mankind . . . no HUMANkind . . . has been and it looks like will always be the same in this dimension . . . in this fold of time.

They are and were human . . . only different color skin . . . . same dna . . . . same strengths . . . same weakness.

The invasion of white man gave them a different enemy to somewhat unify together and fight the more common enemy. Kind of like nato huh?? Or perhaps like all the NATIONS of the WORLD will when we are “invaded” by what we view as a common enemy.

I love the beautiful “guidelines” in the OP and they are wise words . . . . but they are no more Native American than other wise and beautiful thoughts from other “nations” of the world.

As long as we live our lives and generations with guilt, anger, resentment, hatred against one another and ALLOW ourselves to be DIVIDED we will never move forward . . . and the “thinking” that somehow the Native Americans are more “worthy” than other humans is an example of one of the more dangerous divisions.

Okay I did a bit more research on the OP and the link posted. And frankly I’m a bit pissed.

These “commandments” were loosely based on a speech made by Chief Seattle 1854 of the Duwamish or Squamish Tribe. The speech he made is very controversial on whether he actually gave it or exactly what he said.

The person that posted these “commandments” on this humansarefree.com link is exactly what I spoke about in my above post. He has none of the facts and “pushed” what few around so irresponsibly to “try” to make a point based on his OWN thoughts, opinions and BS.

Further more he took a very beautiful painting of Howard Terpning and cropped part of it out so it would better suit his needs. This painting is even of the Blackfoot and is of the council of chiefs of the Blackfoot Nation coming together to discuss WAR. Against who is unclear. The person posting cropped out the two warriors that were the more “war like” looking because heaven forbid we be truthful and represent actual history.

bluefire: Wise words you have said, however I challenge you, but only on what you left unsaid to offer a solution.

All we have to do as individuals is replace that guilt, anger, resentment and hatred with compassion to negate and allow it to bleed off into the energy of the universe. Gradually the collective sheds off the division and comes into balance thus moving forward.
Perhaps Natives of the Americas were deemed more "worthy" in the 16th century by the power center of Europe (read Church) and the PTB felt threatened by the spiritual collective thoughtform. For some reason the quarantine of the America's was allowed to be broken in 1492. Why? Was it an distortion where you have unbalanced positive shift to the unbalanced negative with the Aztecs with their human sacrifice? A failure of the collective in the Americas? What you sow you will reap..what the civilization did was reflected back onto them? The result was a 90% population reduction by pathogens and 400 years of enslavement by the inertia of the material collective paradigm thoughtform.

Our children must be told this sad story, and repeated every generation..each generation will feel the compassion, love and forgiveness from the preceding one. In 1,400 years maybe it will fade into legends, folklore, beliefs that will adapt and become part of the wisdom of the human collective.

What I admire about the Native Americans is about the way they pass wisdom from generation to generation. The ease that they can change vibrations to pass in and out of different dimensions is phenomenal. Truly they can approach the Throne of The Divine with such ease. We are proud to have them with us to help move the human collective forward toward a higher vibration. We should be inspired in the Native American by their perseverance to stick around to help those who want to be helped under free will..

Now those of free will and awareness who want to continue to live their lives and generations with anti life, denial, distortion, guilt, anger, resentment, hatred and divisions: they will reincarnate on a world where they have all these opportunities. I will wish them compassion in all their endeavors to achieve what they desire: to dissolve their consciousness into the nothingness and energy of the Universe. Otherwise after a million years If they choose to come into the light and life while on that path they will be very wise indeed.
