Default Methods For Personality Identification And Knowing Yourself - The Michael Teachings

    "The Michael Teachings"
This teaching is not a belief system and is not meant to be taken at face value. It does not require belief to be valid.

Michael's material is channelled. I say that from the get go, because many people will dismiss it out of hand and go about their business as a result. And I don't blame you. Channelled material is a weird category to say the least. I was 22 when this material was first introduced to me, by a girl I was dating at the time, she passed away shortly there after. I read the material and found it compelling, but, dismissed it, and rightly so. I was too young for it at the time. I also hadn't devoloped the palate that could differentiate the wheat from the chaffe so to speak.

There is a lot of crap out there, and there are a lot of people charging a lot of money for that crap out there. The books by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro are, paradigm changing. Atleast they were for me. I specify the author with the books, because, well, there apparently is no copy right on saying your channelling an entity, and a lot of folks have picked up where the original group left off and tried to make a go of it. I haven't read anything other than the Yarbro stuff I would recomend.

Back in the early seventies, a group of like minded profesionals would get together and entertain one another, giving house parties. One time, the idea of using the ouija board came up, and that is when the entity known as Michael began communicating. Chelsea Quinn Yarbro documented these events at the behest of the group, but at no time was she ever involved in the actual channelling. The channellers themselves have used pseudonyms to remain unknown, except for the most part to the author.

The materials main points of interest are.

    1. That all people are born into one of seven types of people. The seven soul types (the soul types never change through out your incarnations).
    • King
    +Master
    -Tyrany
    • Warrior
    +Persuasion
    -Coercion
    • Priest
    +Compassion
    -Zeal
    • Scholar
    +Knowledge
    -Theory
    • Sage
    +Expression
    -Oration
    • Artisian
    +Creation
    -Artifice
    • Slave
    +Service
    -Bondage

Knowing what role you are or soul type is very,,,,,,,,,,,,,liberating. No role is better or worse than any other, though, some are much more rare than others. Once you know the basics, they are very easy to spot. It also helps immensly in communicating with people when you know what role they are in.

    2. Soul Age
    • Infant
    • Baby
    • Young
    • Mature
    • Old
Knowing your soul age can help you a lot as well. The age of the soul is defined as the moment you and your soul group were cast out of the primordial Tao. The soul ages are amazing in helping to understand folks. For instance infant and baby souls are timid folks who need lots of rules and structure. Young souls are akin to teenagers and they tend to do the most damage to them selves "karmically" and to the world at large through confrontation, drama and the like. Young souls are also said to have the most energy, the strongest drive if you will. Mature souls are in assimilation mode. Mature souls are not interested in the pursuits of young souls, they must digest and corrolate the events of their life times. Mature souls often times have psychic awakenings, and must also deal with new senses as a result. Mature souls tend to seek privacy and retreat from the specatacle and goings on of the young souls. Old souls are just that. Old souls have a stronger connection to their higher selves and have a live and let live mentality. Old souls do not retreat like the Mature souls do, they put themselves smack in the middle of things. Old souls don't feel the need for fiscal superiority and many times will be the janitor in the capitol building saying just the right thing to the young congressman off to change the world.

    3. The chief feature, this is your most persistant over riding negative attribute. The perverbial devil on your shoulder if you will. This single most defining negative trait is a personal tyrant of sorts. It changes from life time to life time.
    • Martydom Martyrdom is the self-image of the "born loser", the "quitter", the "pushover", the "doormat". A person with this Feature sees himself as a weakling and a failure. In extreme cases, the Martyr may experience actual death in martyrdom, but this is rare. Sometimes it might appear that Martyrs have a kind of "death wish" considering the careless things they do. They seem not to care whether they live or die. They may be morbid, looking forward to their own death. They may think about it or talk about it often. Since they have little respect for themselves, they may not be very concerned with their own physical well-being, and so they take risks with their life and health, treating the body badly. Some may do foolish and dangerous stunts to prove their worth. To get others to try to stop their suicidal actions would prove they are of some worth, would it not?
    • Impatience Things never happen fast enough to suit him. Time moves too slow to suit him: the future does not arrive soon enough. He constantly tries to pack more activity into the allotted time than can possibly be done
    • Self-Destruction People with the chief feature of Self-destruction are always aware of their faults. This can particularize in several ways. They might dislike their body, for instance: it is too short or too tall, too fat or too thin, the ears are too big, the hair is too curly, and so on. They might be self-critical about their work: they are not thorough enough, not fast enough, not accurate enough, and so on.
    • Arrogance They tend to think they are a superior breed of human, not subject to the same imperfections as other "common" people. They may believe they are blessed with good luck. They have an exaggerated sense of their own importance, perceiving themselves as noble and grand, and feeling they are beyond and above the normal and average. They fancy that they will make a significant contribution to the world, and they have an unrealistic evaluation of their abilities, talents, intelligence, and other gifts — they see themselves as better than they really are.
    • Self-Depreciation This is the classical "inferiority complex" of psychoanalysis. The person devalues, disparages, and slights himself. He feels that he is of little consequence among the rest of humanity. He sees others as better than himself, and looks up to them, and down on himself. The body may in fact display the slump that the spirit feels, as the shoulders may be stooped and the back bowed as if the person wanted to appear smaller than he really was.
    • Greed A person with the chief feature of Greed thinks of himself first. One of the first things that comes to his mind in every situation is, "How am I going to profit from this?", or "Is this to my advantage or not?", or "Look out for number one". Such a person is a consumer rather than a producer. He may be a leach on society, a freeloader. In many cases he is opportunistic, always on the lookout for a way to enrich or gratify himself. He tends to receive without returning equal value.
    • Stubbornness The Stubborn one resists external influences. He doesn't need any outside "interference". He prefers to go his own way, make up his own mind, follow his own instincts. He is slow to respond to external correcting measures, and so he remains in inappropriate patterns of behavior, thought, and feeling. All of the Features have to do with self-image, and in the case of Stubbornness, the person is self-contained. He prefers to operate/function on his own, without regard for others or the environment. You can't tell him anything.

    4. Soul Groups
This is the idea that you were cast out of the tao in a small singular group, ussually consisting of a thousand souls, give or take a few hundred.
This group shares the same soul type because, they are in fact on a certain level a single entity. The description of the soul group is very much in line with the Michael Newton books. It is also mentioned that your soul group has sister groups thrown out of the Tao at the exact same time. Your incarnations are done with your sister groups quite a bit, as such you get to know your sister groups very well.

I have included some links, but, understand, these are not excerpts from the books. At best it is people digesting and expanding, at worst, it is new people trying to channel the information(I don't trust any of the new material). I highly suggest reading the books(Chelsea Quin Yarbro's), there are only three of them, and they are a quick read.

    Good Luck

Great stuff. I hope this makes for some lively conversation. Sage.

The chief feature is really key for advancement by knowing your biggest personal obstacle.

The book, Messages From Michael was a tremendous journey through new ideas to explore in myself.

Agreed about the new material. Like the Seth material in Sedona magazine after Jane Roberts died, it had a different feel and smell to it.

Very interesting Mod, I agree 100% about the chief feature. It has helped me so much in accepting myself. It has also helped me exercise tolerance and compasion for those in my life of whom I can now better understand by knowing their chief feature.

For instance, my chief feature is impatience. I used to battle this constraint as if it was a dragon that could be slayed. Alas, it is not. Folks may think my attitude here defeatest, but I don't look at it that way. I think it important to understand that the chief feature, delivers the hammer blows we came to recieve in this incarnaiton. Dealing with limitation is the allure of incarnating I've been lead to believe. As such, I think it helps immensely to understand what some of those limitations are, as such, one can live more gracefully with them.

Not that I have any right to think I can call someone's soul type with out meeting and knowing them, I would have thought you were a Scholar Mod.
I used to be confused with the soul types because I read one of the copy cat channeller's books before finding the Chelsea Quinn Yarbro books.
    So I thought I was a slave.
My only complaint with that was that I didn't seem to have any of the boundless energy associated with slaves.
After reading the original "Messges from Michael" and "More messages from michael", I realized my error. I was confusing the priest with the sage.
Sages are masters of communication, and excell in public speaking.
The Michael entity made no apologies about the fact that he wasn't all that fond of priests, being as he was a warrior/king group and did much of the fighting/dying caused by the religious zeal of priests.
    So yea, I'm a priest.
