Light in the dark.

There are three approaches to spirituality, one of isolation, one is monastic and the other as a house holder. Whether we like it or not we are all spiritual beings. Spiritual beings that get distracted.

I have just spent a few week getting involved into what people think is happen to the world, with both feet. To see how it feels. It is a world of total confusion, speculations, assumptions and aggression. Basically it is unhappy.

I believe the house holder can make fast progress, because of all the distractions. But first a firm ground is needed, to stablise the mind. A rule or straight line, which one can wander away from and return to but keeps one in a general direction. The rule is your choice.

Our rule should be non aggressive, content and happy. We are living in a world of aggression, discontent and unhappiness. Our job is not to add to this. The human world is created on desire.

So where do we go from here? Once we decide on our rule, stick to it. Of course be prepared to adjust, as we have to let go of first rules to move on to the next. Well, it is not the next, just a refinement in perception. The world we live in can be used as a tool. Your rule will give you conscious space to live in, any distraction just serves to remind you to return to conscious space. Gradually with confidence, this space will expand...no limits!

It's all to do with love. If one needs a weapon, it has to be love. And we have to mean it.

There is a conflict pulling us in two opposite directions. All we have to do is be aware of it. This conflict can become the fast path, because the emotions are staring you in the face. Look directly into the emotions and find there is nothing there, but your own beautiful awareness.

Most important of all, this is also in everyone else.
