    From Earthquake-report.com:

    Update 03/11 – 14:25 UTC :
The pictures below are from the new green-yellow stain in the Las Calmas sea. The stain could well be observed from La Restinga and from the viewing point at Arena Blanca.
The second picture is a thumbnail from the new Jacuzzi as it appeared a short time in the Las Calmas sea. DiarioElHierro photographer Gelmert Finol was on the watch and could take the picture.

A very defined new stain has been seen this morning - image courtesy the Government of the Canary Islands

Burbuja or Jacuzzi in the Las Calmas sea on November 3 - image Diario El Hierro - Click on the thumbnail to see the full size picture.

    Update 03/11 – 14:52 UTC :
We have a hard time in following all the events. Joke just told us that the TV Canarias showed helicopter images while overflying the new stains.

    SPECIAL SEISMIC CRISIS - 11/03/2011 (13:15 pm)
    TREMOR SIGNAL INCREASES

The eruption intensifies and many residents leave La Restinga voluntarily.

The Security and Emergency Councillor of the City of El Pinar, Jesus Perez Quintero sends a message of reassurance from La Restinga and ensures that ''the situation now is not like it was at the beginning, since we now have located the eruption (early in the process we did not know and hence decided to evacuate) and so far, the vibration has decreased compared to this morning,'' he said.

Also, as recorded by the twitter of the Cabildo de El Hierro, the Minister of Security and Emergency island, Maria del Carmen Morales, has launched a 'tranquilidda' message and assured that ''any evacuation is not planned now.''

    DIARIOELHIERRO.ES, writing (03.11.2011. 13:15 pm)
The sea of La Restinga is back at expelling bubbles and magmatic materials as happened on 10 October. The intense seismic activity recorded yesterday at Frontera, with two earthquakes greater than magnitude 4 on the Richter scale seems to have revived the submarine volcano whose activity has increased.

So much so that, as has been confirmed DAILY IRON, some of the residents of La Restinga have decided to leave the village voluntarily for fear of an eruption.

Right now in La Restinga, although the tremor has decreased, it has increased the vibration, which remained constant from early in the morning.

In this regard, the Security and Emergency Alderman of the City of El Pinar, Jesus Perez Quintero, told DAILY IRON of the appearance of this bubbling, but sent a message of reassurance to the population.

Speaking to this newspaper, Perez Quintero said that, although some people have decided to voluntarily leave the village, "the situation now is not as it was in the beginning, as we now have located the eruption (early in the process we did not know and hence was decided to evacuate) and so far, the vibration has decreased compared to this morning," he said.

Also, the council asked the population to adhere to official statements, "because there is already media claiming to be an evacuation procedure when it is not true," he said.

Also, as recorded by the twitter of the Cabildo de El Hierro, the Minister of Security and Emergency island, Maria del Carmen Morales, has launched a 'tranquilidda' message and assured that ''any evacuation is not planned now.''

For its part, the Canary Islands Government has stated that the vibrations felt on the morning of Thursday in the town of La Restinga on the island of El Hierro, are due to the dynamics of intermittent pulses in the tremor.

In a statement, the regional executive indicates that this information has been forwarded from the direction of Pevolca.

However, it is noted that the Civil Protection authorities and scientists are now analyzing the signals to take appropriate action if any risk to people is deemed.

Here is the best and most probable hypothesis I have run into so far:

    Quote Peter Cobbold says:
    November 3, 2011 at 15:21
    Armand,
I agree – the scientists are doing a difficult job and have not had the best equipment.

At the start of the jacuzzi they only had one site recording tremor ( CHIE) so could not locate its source. Now with the additional stations – the ones where we are denied access- thay have an ability to locate the tremor source approximately, even in depth.

From the brief view we had of the data from those other stations it was clear that the tremor was strongest in the south, and is probably not associated with the deep earthquakes under el Golfo.

The frequencies that dominate the tremor on CHIE are around 1 to 5Hz as we can see from the yellow and red bands on the plot:
    http://www.ign.es/ign/head/volcaSena...&Dia=03&tipo=2

These frequencies are typical of hydrothermal tremor ( Review on tremor here: http://epic.awi.de/11598/1/Kon2003a.pdf - section 4.3).

So I see the jacuzzi being a conduit of km scale that fills [up] with sea water which then boils and erupts periodically under steam pressure to cause the bursts of amplitude on the CHIE plot.

The photos of the grey stain show a well defined periphery as if a jet of water has been pushed up in a geyser-like fashion, whereas a jet of gas would I think have a more diffuse, and bubbling, appearance.

A few weeks back the jacuzzi was described as pulsing every 15 minutes. It would be useful to know if the gray stain expands periodically now, perhaps in time with the CHIE pulses.

I offer these thoughts as an amateur.

    Peter
If memory serves me right and that's the guy's real name... he ain't no amateur at all as a scientist, just in that particular field!

    *************************

People's unconscious knowledge might have been right all along: a natural jacuzzi!

The above was in answer to this:

    Quote Armand Vervaeck says:
    November 3, 2011 at 14:46
@ Jenny – we feel that too – maybe too much information for all of us. We make it very difficult for scientists to slowly proceed.

Until now they are NOT wrong.

People want clear answers but in the case of a volcano nobody can give them (at least not here).

They hear and see the Avcam, our website, Diario El Hierro, Diario de Avosos, La Provincia and canarios 7 and we all are describing every detail of the graphs, quakes etc.

Politicians are not to blame for anything here. They and all the other people do the best they can. Not asking advise at worldwide experts and many other things which have not been done are in facts things that could have been done better.

The people looking at the data are not idiots but responsible politicians, scientists and authorities.

Let’s hope that i am right

Well, it appears that Ramon Margalef didn't go to Santa Cruz de Tenerife after all but combed southeastern Tenerife before ducking the storm at Los Christianos harbor:

Here in the South of Tenerife, we are escaping the storm. However,.. IT IS VERY WINDY...very windy.
All commercial Boat trips have been cancelled today, and there are reports coming in of two fishing boats in the harbour of Puerto Colon, Las Americas that have sunk in the swells whilst anchored in the harbour

    From Earthquake-report.com:

    Data update 03/11 – 19:20
    - Harmonic tremor continues to be very strong and indicates that the eruptive process increases again.
    - The quakes became weaker when the harmonic tremor strengthened. This also happened with the first Jacuzzi or burbuja episode.
    - Pevolca is still together discussing the present situation

    Update 03/11 – 19:30 UTC :
Raymond Matabosch, The French volcano follower (see separate article) told us that he will spend the night in a tent at the El Julan heights, which have a great view on the Las Calmas sea. Raymond is convinced that, if the current harmonic tremor /seismic activity continues, a Surtseyan eruption will occur within the next few hours or days, and he does not want to miss such an event.

Southern El Hierro coast and the El Julan range - image courtesy http://cantabrico2007.blogspot.com/2...-canarias.html

    - 96 species of fish have been affected by the eruption. There are no signs of any marine life within a radius of 1.5 km from the eruptive mouth. In an extended radius of 3 miles, there is almost no marine life perceivable until a depth of 200 meter. Below 700 meter depth and further than 1.5 mile from the eruption vent, marine life is not affected anymore. The results have been reported by Marine professor Alberto Brito from the University of La Laguna, Canary Islands.

Due to the increasing changes of events, the news updates are coming swiftly here via the local television service..

The residents of La Restinga do not want to go home
The tremors have increased in the last hours in the south of the island

Cracks found in the north of the island, due to rising magma, and Ramon Margalef sails into Los Cristianos (Tenerife South)

Pyroclasts found in La Restinga. Throughout the eruption process on the coast of La Restinga have surfaced pyroclastic volcanic material that is generating different opinions among scientists.

Hahh! Floating boulders! That's a new one!

Indeed those shown surfacing are huge. However, I have some reservations as to whether they are from La Restinga?

Especially considering that along with them they are showing some footages of an underwater eruption which Ramon Margalef couldn't perform... archive footages from where? I'd like to know that!

Hope you can catch more of those Antenna3 videos!

    Thanks!

No quibbles about the coconut ones being shown and which are the object of the debate.

My reservations are with the boulder-size ones seen surfacing in the video and which I don't think come from a Restinga video but from somewhere else around the world. But... I may be wrong.

I just like to see it confirmed and their script does not mention the boulders.
