Strongest so far (2.8 at 04:07):

    For the day:

Frequencies spectrogram, the vertical streaks indicate “events” (tremors/EQs) whereas the horizontal ones reflect volcanic/magmatic activity:
Quote From Wikipedia: A Harmonic tremor is a sustained release of seismic and/or infrasonic energy typically associated with the underground movement of magma and/or venting of volcanic gases from magma. Being a long-duration continuous signal from a temporally extended source, a volcanic tremor contrasts distinctly with transient sources of seismic radiation, such as tremors that are typically associated with earthquake and explosion.

For the last 10 days, following the count of EQs as shown by the orange bars (≥ 2.0), it now shows whatever Polly is up to as far as seismic activity is concerned:

New cumulative graph starting October 10, 2011. The continuously changing scales keeps compressing the earlier graphs to the bottom and to the left!

Birth and evolution of a new volcanic slick:

Early morning, the "normal" green stained sea... being checked out by Search & Rescue Sasemar 103 aircraft (not a seagull, right in the middle of the sky):

The green sea when Ramon Margalef enters the scene:

Nice size waves... new Jacuzzi starting...

Jacuzzi bubbling while a sailboat under engine heads for the harbor...

Safe for now... while Polly still spews more out...

Correcting course... slick getting more defined...

    Grey slick now well defined...

    On the scales of greys...

Since July, IGN has officially logged 11,916 tremors at El Hierro... and counting since seismic activity is still ongoing!

Meanwhile, this thread just went by 65,000 viewings....

Remember what it said in one of those articles?

Research continues in the waters of El Hierro

In this matter, the ship "Sarmiento de Gamboa" finishes its work today with the conducting of bathymetric, gravimetric and seismic profiles which began last Tuesday. To begin with, the campaign was originally planned as a research on the continental shelf of the Canaries.

"... originally planned as a research on the continental shelf of the Canaries."

Sooo... that vessel was generously lent to Pevolca for two days in the name of scientific knowledge...

    What was it diverted from?

What was the original campaign about Canaries Continental Shelf?

Who would be interested in sismic and gravimetric profiles of these islands continental shelves?

Remember that speculation about if a new island were to appear out to sea?

Who would it belong to: Canaries or Morocco?

Morocco... hmmmm... who are the kings of seismic profilings anyway?

    Well... these kind of guys:

Think of it... who would finance such an expensive campaign of a large research vessel? ... and why? ... if there weren't any profits to be made out of it?

Yep... as I said... anecdotal... sniff-sniff... always, always, always... ... $$$$!

One of the spots caused by the eruption underwater off the coast of La Restinga, south of El Hierro. img. PEVOLCA

The sulfur dioxide emission is reducing in El Hierro.

The seismicity also continues to decline in the island.

    8:02

    LP / DLP
    Las Palmas de Gran Canaria:
Emission rates of sulfur dioxide (SO2) by Volcanic activity in El Hierro have reduced significantly during the last month, the volcanological Institute of the Canaries (INVOLCAN) revealed yesterday. In fact, scientists at the research center have reported rates of less than five tons per day generated by underwater volcanic activity south of La Restinga, since last November 10,. On the other hand, seismicity also continues to decrease in El Hierro, in fact, yesterday there were fewer than six earthquakes to between 16 and 23 kilometers deep and a maximum magnitude of 2.8 on the Richter scale.

Yesterday, the direction of Pevolca forwarded to the population, "although we are in a period of stability, the eruptive phenomenon is not completed on the island of El Hierro." Therefore, Pevolca added, the Civil Protection operational deployment remains and it is recommended that people follow the information from the authorities.

The highest rates of emission of sulfur dioxide (SO2) into the atmosphere, provided by INVOLCAN, were recorded on November 6 and reached 109 + 9 tons daily. "This observed maximum emission rate record of sulfur dioxide (SO2) is also relatively lower than those normally recorded in subaerial volcanic systems found in eruptive phase," added sources of this Institute. "This is because a significant portion of the emission of sulfur dioxide (SO2) by the underwater volcanic activity south of La Restinga does not reach the atmosphere since it is absorbed by the sea because of a neutralization reaction between acid volcanic gases and the seawater of alkaline nature contributing to lowering the pH of seawater. "This has been reflected also in the measurements taken by research vessels Professor Ignacio Lozano and Ramon Margalef, the Canary Islands Institute of Marine Sciences (ICCM) and the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO), respectively.

    No vents or fumaroles

On the other hand, INVOLCAN stressed yesterday that the volcano island of El Hierro, which corresponds to the above sea level part of the structure, there was no sulfur dioxide emissions "since there are no visible volcanic gases emissions of relatively high temperatures (fumaroles, plumes) in the terrestrial realm."

Measurements of sulfur dioxide emissions were performed using high-tech and large capacity instruments, such as optical remote sensing and COSPEC miniDOAS type of mobile air-units with the support and collaboration of the Helicopter Service of the Guardia Civil in the Canaries.

    EL HIERRO

Requires that you remove the volcanic risk red semaphore in El Hierro.

    Valverde (El Hierro), EFE:
The Socioeconomic Monitoring Insular Commission has demanded the withdrawal of volcanic risk red semaphore in the village of La Restinga and the yellow one on the rest of El Hierro, once you consider that they are normal after the volcanic quake crisis.

The commission consists of representatives of municipalities, unions, business organizations, members of various political parties and agricultural cooperatives, among others.

Everyone involved in the Socioeconomic Monitoring Insular Commission have reached agreement on issues such as absolutely reject the record of employment regulation (ERE) raised in the Parador de Turismo de El Hierro.

They say it is a leader in the tourism sector of El Hierro and accepting employment regulation file would be a negative example for the industry, and the commission sought an employment plan that will generate island work permanently.

They have also expressed the need to create a one-stop care for those affected by the volcanic earthquake crisis, and to centralize all aspects of government aid.

Speaking to EFE, Alpidio Armas, president of the Cabildo de El Hierro, said that the Socioeconomic Monitoring Insular Commission will be responsible for managing and coordinating all actions in terms of insular economic recovery.

Also, Alpidio Armas reported that various actions have been finalized with the airline Binter Canarias through which the ticket price be reduced as much as possible to fly from Tenerife and Gran Canaria to El Hierro to promote the island's economic recovery through tourism .

Not much happened yesterday... the last logged earthquake was a 2.4 at 6 pm... nothing above 1.5 since.

The Guardia Civil Coast Guard tumbling its way to La Restinga, back from patrolling around...

... till some tourists came sailing around Polly on shortened sails...

    Back out again...

    Rooster-tailing toward the intruder...

Now heading back to La Estaca, tumbling even more while Polly keeps quiet...

    Meanwhile, wandering camera eye...

First EQ in 18 hours... from 40 kilometers deep... that's a change!

Other than that, new evolution of Polly's plume from early morning when the old batch was drifting west (to the right of picture):

    Then... Polly woke up:

... and that pale little smudge, above, kept growing from then on... but... extending eastward as well as drifting westward.
