No OBE's, But I have had several Astral Projection Experiences, that were most amazing. Flying and Soaring in mountains and valleys of wonderful colors of Blue and Orange. Most Incredible to say the least. And Also falling out of the sky in my dream, and dropping into amazing crystal blue oceans.

Are you taking the piss . . . ( or just sizing me up for a Men in Black body bag) ?

Edit: Sorry, you didn't get me. No . . . . mine is a buzzing feeling in the ears together with a dizzy feeling. If I relax I come out of my body (local) but if I "throw" myself out (expand), then I end up in weird places . . . . sorry, really thought you were taking the mickey ....

Guess what, a thread on OBEs already exists. It's a rather lengthy and informative one, enjoy

I've had a few in my times so far yet one stands out. I was asleep one night in Oct'08 and I woke up and sit straight up in my bed and turned my body and realized my physical body was still asleep. I was looking at my body!

Now 2 dark entities were trying to push me back in my body and I remember telling them "you can't hold me! I'm going to my Father<creator God>" They backed off and quick. I felt like pure energy! It felt wonderful! I looked at the ceiling and flew right threw it.

Now I was in looking down at earth, which was the size of a soccer ball from my point of view, and said "that place, earth, is so insignificant". Then I heard a female voice say "go back it's not time yet" and I left and woke up in my body. I did not want to come back. I felt free and strong and it was awesome.....

I have come close twice. I remember hearing someone say to set your alarm to 3AM because it's easier to have an OBE after you wake up in the middle of the night. But I must have been too tired and just fell asleep right there. The next thing I know I wake up at 4AM and just intended on having an OBE. As soon as I went back sleep, I starting hearing this vibrational sound that everyone seems to be referring to!

Think i had an OBE when i was 14. But i was really ill with a virus at the time so it was all kind of weird. But i was def looking up, looking down on myself at the same time. But i regularly dream then switch to watching myself sleep. This may only last 10 seconds or so. When i wake up im actually in the position i was watching myself in. Is this the same thing? I have no idea about all this..

My OBE was over twenty years ago and involved copious amounts of liberty caps. I saw and interacted with pythons, tattooed people, strange indescribable creatures etc. I could see music coming out of the speakers. I had visions of what seemed to be the past that were real in every way. I could smell things even. I could see myself laying on the couch from above. I felt as if I could go anywhere I wanted to go but was afraid to do it.

When I came to consciousness again I found my buddy swinging naked from a tree into the swimming pool in the back yard. Especially funny since his pool faced the 18th hole of a golf course. There were many spectators. No one got in trouble luckily.

    Just an anecdotal story ....

I had a few astral travel experiences as a child. I had no idea what they where at the time (except for .. "Wow! Cool!"), so I just called the "special" dreams. I just recently recalled that I had been able to astral travel as a kid within the last couple years (i'm 37) - it had been stripped from my memory. now that I am getting some recall into this phenomenon, can vaguely recall someone visited me once - astrally - while I was doing this and told me to never do it again -I can't recall the exact details, or the exact agreement made, but to this day I cannot astral travel despite being able to "separate" my astral vibrations from my physical ones. I can lay in one spot vibrating as two separate entities but cannot seem to separate them. I am currently looking more deeply into this as I suspect that there are actual funded programs in place to prevent people from knowing the reality that they are not their bodies. People coming to this realization will begin to break down the giant false paradigm that keeps their economies going.

This is something that I want to look into more if anyone has anything to offer me in regards to this feel free to PM me.

Wow, what a long day! Thanks for all of the replies, between the links and threads shared I have plenty to chew on! I think I may have begun to have one twice (an OBE). Once in high school... I was dozing off in bed and I woke up unable to move (like a very heavy lead blanket was covering me) and then I was surrounded by a thunderous pounding. It's as if hundreds of fists were pounding on the walls of the room. It really freaked me out and I'm still not sure what it was. The second time was back in college. I was meditating and I had the sensation of climbing out of the top of my head. I don't know how to explain the feeling... almost like I was in a greater presence, too much awe for me to bear—a sensation of vastness. That freaked me out too. I want to intentionally try it now. I need to learn more about it—technique, the science behind it, and anecdotal accounts. Anyways, I appreciate the help! Thanks again y'all.

Hey Vivek, you should try talking to Jake he's very knowledgeable and experienced in this area. He has a website from which you can also download his book on this topic.

    Hope this helps :-)

So, I've been diligently trying to have an OBE since the day I started this thread. Something happened on the second night of attempting. I remember consciously catching myself at a point between awake and asleep. Then I tried the roll out method. I remember the vibrations. They seemed strong then but remembering back now they didn't seem that intense. I vaguely remember rolling out but I couldn't see anything. Then I think I actually fell asleep. Within an hour I was half awake again so I thought I'd give it another shot. Same exact thing happened. I remember half thinking—wow, this is really real—when I was experiencing the vibrations. The memory of the experience is growing more faint as the days pass. Now, I'm not even sure I experienced it at all, I feel it could have just been the phantom sensations of an actual dream.

Today, I laid myself down at around 2:00pm for another OBE trial. I am getting better at keeping my conscious aware as my body falls asleep. I am also getting to the sleep paralysis state quicker. Albeit I have not consciously had an OBE, I did experience some new sensations this afternoon. The first was light blinking on and off under my eyelids. I had a black sock (clean and fresh out of the wash) covering my eyes, but it was as if someone was holding a strobe light in front of my face. This happened twice within a minute and lasted about 5-10 seconds each time.

The second sensation happened as I realized I was slipping into a dream. I became mentally aware and exited the dream whilst my body was just beginning to sleep (I believe). Then I felt a definite vibration. It was a side to side vibration somewhere in between rocking on a boat at sea and the way a rubber band behaves when it is twanged. That subsided quickly. Then in the blackness of my eyelids I could definitely see a hyper complex mandala-like snowflake. It reminded me of a portal and I immediately thought of the pineal gland. That vision faded within minutes and the typical lava-lamp geometric static took it's place in the darkness behind my eyelids (and black sock). That's it (at least for now). I will keep trying. My enthusiasm is still high...can't wait for bed tonight!

Oh, and one more strange thing. The door knob to my room is about to fall off. It's been getting looser and looser the past five or so days. Also, I really think I closed my door before this afternoons trial but when I got up it was open. I honestly could have forgotten to close it. I remember dreams pretty well, so I don't think any post amnesia could be strong enough to block out a quick mid-afternoon OBE. I will know for sure soon enough!

    Hello all,

I have known about OBEs for a while, but I've never mustered up any sort of ambition to try it until now. Has anyone read any of Monroe's books on the subject? Or anything by anyone with any type of credibility? What's the best way to do it?
Yes - I've had loads. My advice would be to take it easy and not rush it - just take your time and experiment. The best way to do it (for me) is the in the short gap between lying down to sleep and sleeping. You get a sort of buzzzing feeling - like you're falling out of bed or something. This is quite common and we tend to fight it. When this happens just let go and RELAX and it will happen. But don't do too much too soon ....... there are loads of books - Monroe is the daddy but his experiences happened spontaneously like mine. Robert Waggoner is quite good - he touches on lucid dreaming as well . .. . imo this is definitely the gateway to everything.
How do you "let go"? Of all the methods I've read about separating (i.e. rolling out, floating, climbing a rope, etc.) the main theme is to allow it to happen or just let go. Maybe I'm just not to that point yet so I don't quite understand.

There is a good free e-book about it out there. It´s called School Of Out-Of-The-Body travel, a practical guide.

    Here´s the link:

It´s pretty practical indeed and should get you started easily.

    Cheers,

So far it seems very practical.

The rolling separation method works very fine for me. After years of practice, I found it to be the most efficient.

However, don´t force it. You will know when the time comes for you to go out...There´s no way to explain it. It´s just somewhere at the peak of the vibrational state.

    Cheers,

    Raf.

Thanks, Raf. I read from the e-book that you linked in your previous post (just after I posted that question about separation/entry) that one would be almost forced out once they are in the right state. To just go with it makes a little more sense now. So, double thanks to you pal.

Not aware of a OBE in the classic sense, where I could look down and see my body.

I have awakened from a dream, to another dream, and yet awakened to another dream. Three layers of dreamingl

And I've had a few lucid dreams, where I knew I was dreaming and could control the dream.

Years ago in the week long Gateway program at the Monroe Institute I had two peak experiences but not an OBE.

I would like to have the ability to do OBE.
