A Strange Occurrence of Sleep Paralysis

Let me first say that I'm reluctant to share this due to the extreme strangeness of the whole experience.
I will simply try to retell every aspect of what happened.
I have not told anyone about this yet, but since most of you avalonians are very loving and understanding people, I figure this is a good place to get some feedback.

It is the night after Christmas. I reckon December, 26. Time unknown, but it's dark. I'm guessing sometime between midnight and 3 in the morning. I am sleeping at my sisters house after spending a beautiful Christmas day with the family. My dog is sleeping on the bed right next to me.

The room I am in is lit up by the street lights out side the large window that is right in front of the bed I am on, so it is not pitch black.

I wake up abruptly, like I have woken up out of a surgery gone bad. There is no transition from the sleeping to the waking state like I would usually have. I am hyperventilating, and realize to my horror that I have no control over any part of my body whatsoever except for moving my eyes.

I instantly feel a presence in the room. The Bed is Positioned to the back right hand corner of the room with approximately 6 feet of space to the left and 5feet in front with a big double hung window in front of me.

Panic is the best word to describe my feelings at this point. I scan the room for only a second and see and feel a presence to my left. I can see a pitch black figure standing by the wall. I am still hyperventilating. I don't understand what is going on with my body, no control.

I can hear my brother in law snoring in a room 10 feet down the hall, over my own breathing witch is making a whistling sound because I can't even control my lips. I don't notice my dog next to me at this point which is an important factor considering the overbearing presence I feel in the room.

I always sleep and awaken on my stomach, so to awaken in a supine position is also something to note.
My head is tilted left which is probably why I don't notice my dog to my right. I'm looking straight at the dark figure. It has no discernible features. It seems like some sort of ethereal body, made of complete blackness. The wall to my left is white, so the the dark figure is quite out of place and moving slightly. Not like a shadow on the wall but a 3d figure in front of it.

The perception on a psychic level is strong. I feel somehow that it has control over me. I know at this point that this is not a dream. I am completely awake and intently watching this figure while I am uncontrollably hyperventilating the whole time; not out of fear but as if this were my normal breathing state. Not to say that there was not an element of fear.

I am expecting it to say something to me but It is silent.

It seems like an eternity has gone by in a state which has been unknowns to me till now. Then something happens after i'm guessing 10min. The figure rises up off the ground and expands horizontally and shrinks slightly vertically. Kind of the shape of a bat with its wings spread out completely. It rises to the sealing then starts to move down diagonally toward me.

I try to say something, anything. A scream would be good to wake anyone else up in the house, but all that comes out is a groan. As the black figure is about to envelop me, I balck out.

This is where it gets even stranger. When I wake back up the first thing I see when I come to is a face.
I am now laying face down...? I see this under my eyelids. Or maybe my third eye. I see the face of what I would precieve as some sort of E.T.

The controll of my body has returned. So I sit up on my hands and knees while i'm opening and closing my eyes.

The first thing I say is what the ****, You have got to be ****ing kidding me (pardon my french, but that is what I said). The face I to my total disbelief am seing looks roughly like The pic at the bottom. Every time I close my eyes I see it, in translusant green.

Know my attention truns to my dog who has been next to me this whole time. Mind you my dog will investigate anything going wrong out of a dead sleep. Aspecially if it someone who is in distress which I definitely was, let alone some entity moving around in the room. It doesn't take much to wake him up.

I hear a panting noise coming from him. Like he is in distress. The same hyperventilation that I was going through before I balcked out. I call his name several times. Nothing. I move his body closer to me and grab his face and pick his head up and look him straight in the face. He is panting like he just got done running the iditerod, but there is nobody home. I cannot wake him. I shake his head..., but he is limp and hyperventilating.

He's breathing so I just leave him alone. I close my Eyes again and the face is still there.

That is pretty much it. I calm myself down and go back to sleep.

I know it sounds totally rediculous but apparently many other people have experienced something similar to this. Here are a few articles that I have read in the last day.

I thaught i would share a strange and somewhat embarrasing story.

Many years ago (i was about 19 i think) i was drinking tequila with a friend. This friend considered himself a 'pagan' though i would not have considered him as such. We spent the night discussing spiritual and esoteric matters.
My friend was a BIG drug user (and i myself smoked pot), though we had nothing that night except the tequila, and neither of us got particually drunk.
Anyway, i noticed a 'shadow' in the top corner of the room where there shouldn't have been a shadow, and i believe i mentioned it to my mate, and we discussed spiritual beings, demons etc. in some depth.
A few hours later i decided to go to bed (2am ish).. An hour or two later i 'woke' to find a humanoid entity in my room. This thing had no legs and floated around the room, nor did it seem to have ever HAD legs or genitals. It was dark brown / black and had a 'veiny' textured appearance. In other respects it appeared 'human'.
I was paralized, laying on my back, with my arms spread. I couldnt move, but didn't struggle to do so particually hard. I did not feel physically threatened by the entity, but was uncomfortable with its precence.
The 'entity' then proceded to lay atop me upside down, and perform fellatio on my flaccid member...UGH....
At this point i was well and truly over it, and subvocalised "In Jesus name be-gone" and it vanished, and i was freed from my paralisis. I do not consider myself a christian, and am not entirely sure why i chose to use the name of Jesus.

My friend was declared criminally insane and incarcerated within 1-2 years after this event, many others who know him declare him to be possesed, even those who have no intrest or experiance in this area.

I have no doubt that if not actualy possesed, it was his negative energy and openess to the occult that drew this entity.

What did i learn?
The power of a name.
Not to hang out with occult practitionars.
It confirmed the existance of 'spiritual' entitys for me.
that getting severely F***ed up on drugs, open you to negative forces.

I have been told that this entity is a form of 'Jinn' though i have failed to confirm this for myself.

It is comforting to know that this seems to be a relatively common occurrence.

If It had not been for the state of my dog I think I may have just brushed it under the rug as some sort freak night terror and forgot about it.
I am not a particular fearful person, and hardly ever have anything in my dreams that would resemble a nightmare. So this was very out of place to say the least.

I'm not quite sure which side of the fence i'm on.
The medical explanation for sleep paralysis seems to be simple enough, but It doesn't really account for all of the different descriptions I have read so far.

The undeniable feeling of someone in the room, and then actually seeing it there for such a prolonged period of time didn't seem to be any sort of hallucination to me.

When I was 19, I was in the army. I woke up in the middle of the night, paralyzed. I could see a dark entity against the window. After tremendous effort I forced myself to sit up, resulting in waking up again - this time the entity closer, again paralyzed. This repeated for 5-8 times with the entity closing up, very terrifying. Finally I woke up for the last time, could move and the entity was gone. I am wondering whether some of you shamans in here have an opinion as to this subject? I would not be surprised for this to be the modus operandi of a class of entities wanting to take over. You get to choose a no, but it requires tremendous will power.

I have experienced this once. No entities as such, but a real sense of fear.

My 17 year old had this experience multiple times a year ago. Dark figures, one bright yellow figure. Movement around the room. She was quite frightened, until I assured her that she was special to be able to have this experience. I asked her if she had ever been harmed and she said no. Then, embrace the strangeness of it and be very curious. Study it intensely if it occurs again. She is now ok with it. She has seen men in her room since she was small. Jesus types, men with no face, darkly clothed men, yellow men. Ugly men sitting on the side of her bed. She's tough! I would be a quaking pile of jelly.

You have received your invitation to go backstage and witness reality, instead of the comforting banality of the everyday world. In one sense, welcome, in another sense, oh boy, you are now in for a wild ride. My first experience that I can remember of sleep paralysis was when I was about 9 years old, I am 44 now. Back when I was a child, I remember the dark entities and it was then that I stopped forevermore sleeping on my stomach. I sleep primarily on my side now because experience has shown me it is the best way to get a good nights sleep and also the best way to position yourself so that, if you begin to feel the vibrations cycling and sleep paralysis coming on you can move your body parts and get out of it easiest.

The doctor stuff and the medical explanation is all well and good for what it's worth which, to me, is not much. It tells you about chemicals and how the body is actually processing whatever to create the effect but it tells you nothing about what it is or how to use it. You have to do your own research for that. Because you have had the experience, which not a lot of people really do, that must mean that, at some level, you are ready. Because you are here at Avalon, that is further indication that you are ready.

I recommend, to start, Robert Monroe's Journeys Out Of The Body. That's what got me started back in my early 20s with consciously working with this process. There are threads here on the forum where people speak in detail about their experiences, I also recommend that you search those for further information and possibilities.

It happened to me in the middle of the night a few years ago, it felt like something was sitting on my chest for about 2 minutes or so my heart was racing incredibly too. I didnt remember seeing any dark figures though, maybe because it was dark in my room. Weird $hit, hope all is ok with you bro. Before you go to sleep ask for protection from your guides and only spirits from the light, this is a great form of protection for you, before you drift off into slumber.

That has happened to me but I wasn't paralyzed for more than a minute or 2, I woke to a dark humanoid figure standing over me like how a doctor or nurse would stand over a patient when checking something, I got really freaked out, thought you shouldn't be here then felt extreme overpowering fear & it sensed it & disappeared & I got control of my body back. I put this experience down to me waking up in the astral state due to the way it disappeared & the light of the room, it was a very sunny day when I woke paralyzed & when I got control of my body back the light in the room seemed to go (a virtually unnoticeable) shade brighter while the figure vanished, but I was obviously paying good attention & can remember that happening.

There was also a time I was drifting in & out of sleep in the early hours of the morning, lying on my side with the light on & I felt a double pat on the side of my body waking me up. I very quickly turned around & there was nothing there... not sure if this is connected to sleep paralysis or its something else but thought I would mention it.

It sounds to me like you got munched on by a succubus / incubus. It's not fun, but it's also not usually deadly, though it can screw with your mind. I'd take precautions to not allow it back jmho. They do have to obey the rebuke to leave you in the name of Yeshua, and it works. I would have done the same for my dog.

I've dealt with them before. I wonder if the alien thing you kept seeing was really something called the "froglike" demon which is linked to sexual perversion. Succubus love to instill terror and sexual lust energy. It's a spiritual rape basically, and they feed off the heightened energy / prana. I'd ground and center and yes, there will more than likely be a round 2 until you show it you are not afraid and banish it.

That's been my experience with such energies years ago. Once you deal with them, they don't return because they don't like getting their butt kicked. The old woman is known as the night hag and the account of the girl in the first video which I just started to watch is typical.

How do you know this?
I didn't really seem malevolent to me.
The only fear I had was really as a result of being paralyzed.
Yes it was a dark figure, but should I automatically assume that it is some sort of demonic entity because of that?
The documentary that i posted had a lot of that stuff in it. I don't completely discount it but I don't quite jive with that.

I've had several occasions of this happen to me over the years as well I also have on several occasions awoke to spirits in my room that are non threatening. I was explained by a psychic about 2 years ago that the reason I would have these dark entities attack me in this way was because I was an older spirit with a brighter light aura. A blue one as she described. I explained to her about these experiences similar to yours and I'd fight with all my will to move off the bed. In some cases roll myself right off the bed which unfortunately didn't always wake me but would usually awaken my wife. Which would turn the light on and then the negative entity would pass. This woman psychic told me to simply will the entity away and be forceful and it would be forced to leave.

I travel a fair amount for work and on this one trip another colleague was with me we had to make three stops on a sales trip and since we're also friends we were ok with sharing a room on the trip. Well it wasn't until we were leaving Madison, WI for Milwaukee that we noticed that the address for the next hotel shared 333 in the address. It too was 333 something street. So I looked at the next hotel in Appleton and it to was 333 something. Along the way to Appleton we decided to grab a starbucks and the exit with the starbucks to our surprise was 333. We also would notice 333 in other places which normally would have been no big deal. So we thought something was up in general. We get to Appleton which is a small town in Wisconsin. We pull up in front of the hotel and directly across from the hotel there is a spiritual store called the Angel Store. I say to my buddy that I'm going to go check it out while he checks us in. Since it seemed all to non-coincidental. So I go over and walk through this store and it's quite a large store with may different things from Buddha's to Crystals, Candles, Jewellery, etc. and many many books. So I walk the store and make it to the book shelves and randomly grab a book off one the shelves. A lady working comes over and asks if I need assistance and I say I'm just looking and since my wife is a 2nd level Reiki that I thought she might want something. As i'm holding this book in my hands I call my wife on my cell and explain to her where i'm at and if there is anything she'd like me to get for her. She says very nonchalantly that she's like a book by Doreen Virtue. This was the very book I was holding in my hand. So that startled me a bit since she could have asked for anything. Well its in this store that I notice that they have a psychic working and figure I best see if my spirit guide has something to share with me based on all the weird occurrences on this trip. This is the psychic I mentioned above.

Well I return to the hotel with my buddy and as we walk back he informs me that we in fact have room 3330. We walk into the room and both happen to look at the alarm clock on shows 3:33. We still had no idea why we were seeing the 3's everywhere.

That night I awoke (light sleeper) and I did my usual thing where I scan the room for spirits or entities. I scan the room and as I look towards the door at the foot of my friends bed is a dark figure wearing a black cloak with Blue trim. I stare right at it but the face is very dark and the room is quite dark. As I stare at it my body freezes up and this thing starts coming at me. I'm able to move my legs but not the rest of my body. I lift my legs to hold it off and in its right hand its holding something that looks like a needle. This entity is trying to get past my legs and at this point I remember what the psychic had told me and I simply focused my intent on it being gone. I also envisioned a blast of light emanating out of me and hitting it. I become instantly freed and sit up and which point my friend sits up in his bed and says what the hell was that thing. He had seen the entity and couldn't move either and was frozen as well he held the blankets over his head in the hopes he was just having a bad dream. Come to find out he said he awoke to severe soreness in his upper arm.

I had one more occurrence of this type and later on when I was on my own. But i too quickly willed the thing away. I've had nothing for almost 2 years which is a big deal based on the frequency I dealt with this stuff. I believe they don't bother any more. (knock on wood)

On a side note I recently dealt with a demonic presence but this was related to me assisting a different friend that ended up getting possessed after playing with a ouija board. (please stay away from them) He's undergone an exorcism and has been cleared of it. But it wasn't happy that I was helping the exorcism. This demon taunted me one night a couple weeks ago. It moved around the bed while my wife slept I sensed and heard it moving from side to side but having used arch angel prayers for protection it was kept a bit a bay but I could feel the evil in the room. I'm spiritual not religious and I have seen Angels and I do believe that they help us when we call on them. I envisioned a vortex of light coming down from the 5th dimension full of pure blue light and called on Michael to protect me. At this time my hands became so hot that I felt the urge to point them in the direction of the demon and to me it felt like I let go of a freight train. The day after this the Exorcism completed (3rd attempt). Another person that was more closely part of the exorcism had a similar event happen to her and she nor I had spoken priorly about my incident. The interesting thing is her daughter which had seen the demon in her room felt compelled to use a similar method to remove the entity from her room.

I hope this helps to hear other accounts from other people. I struggled with this throughout my life and was very fearful. Luckily my family believed me and I had their support. My biggest lessons I learned was that there is no need ot be afraid and in fact fear makes it worse and secondly that no one can take your soul you are in complete control.

It does help a lot. I do wonder if the house that I was at had anything to do with the incident.
I play my crystal bowl every night before I go to bed, also when I wake up so hopefully that will help.

Ya, I really don't know... I know the pic is a classic grey, but it's not a 100% fit. The eyes were square on the outside narrowing towards the middle.

Well, I have known people who encountered the lil monsters. One had three or four of them at the foot of her bed and she said they looked an awful lot like the alien in ET, you know with the glowing finger all sweet n innocent. Well,these lil monsters were not sweet and innocent. I have not encountered that one before, but I had no reason to doubt the person who was telling me a very personal story they were obviously upset by and embarrassed, but felt safe talking to me as I had no problem disclosing my own experiences with entities and ghosts.

Sometimes keeping a glass of water on your night table helps. Don't drink out of it. Just set it there. Salt helps as well. Salt the borders of your house, window sills and annoint your home. Smudging is wonderful as well, just remember to do every room and closet and get the smoke everywhere claiming your home in your authority. If you knowingly have allowed something in through some behavior you know to be wrong, turn away from it, renounce it, ground and center yourself, and in pure authority claim your area. This is one reason why many people have problems in hotels and strange places because of left over energies. A simple clearing is all that is needed. You don't have to do a two hour working to make a room safe. Just clear it out and enjoy your space.
