What... is the Airspeed Velocity of an Unladen Swallow?

The account request procedure on DeepThought asks the applicant several questions ("What is your name?", etc.) For its amusement value, it was suggested to me that I throw in the swallow question from the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The question appears amidst those related to account creation, without any context shift, so I expected it be somewhat jarring and had no idea what sort of responses I would get. As it turns out, most of those who bother to enter anything either recognize the question or attempt to come up with a suitably silly answer. Jonathan Corum has attempted to actually estimate the answer to this question.

Below are the responses received from August 1993 through November 2005, ranked by the number of times each was given. The capitalization and punctuation is that of the first version of each response that was received. There were 4233 non-empty responses during this period; only those that consisted of at least three words are included here.

This place has its cluster of immature antagonists, judges, incarcerators, pouncers...people that simply spit on others and lick their chops in satisfaction, in subtle and blatant ways...and I know and understand the reasons and it is beyond reason...for the psychopathic putridness leaks to some degree into every facet as an infection of disgusting motivation. If it still happens to the degree it happens here at pa then it certainly needs us wildcards out there doing what we are prompted to do even in the smallest of ways that result in a ripple of benefit that may grow and glow.
I posted in that newer thread that you are aware of because I felt something so strong and so similar to my happenings on my journey that I could not sit back and watch. As most of you here, I visit very few threads out there. Those I do visit usually have the strong feel of genuineness and sincerity. What Pila was sharing was and is much the way I have received and do now receive my promptings that have been leading consistently to synchronicities of help and provision beyond any explanation that many would accept...it just happens. I find it interesting that a crucifiction is still so readily available...and I do hope it is close to the end of that here and those 'clusters' find a good sharp and vivid mirror soon.

Good Morning!
My kitchen is 100 percent put together! Yes, Ulli, except the pics, which I save for last, too. I piddled all day yesterday, unpacking and washing every kitchen item I own. My efforts paid off, for I awoke at 5am to fresh coffee and not a single thing to do in the kitchen but enjoy the view of the outside world from every angle. It's absolutely perfect. The first night was not restful because my sick grandson stayed with us. I am blown away by his constant energy, even when he's sick. He currently has pink eye in both eyes, we are all getting chapped from washing hands so often. Note to self: find a box with hand lotion in it. He is also quite sick again, I knew he was getting another infection when he started running a fever. Poor baby. I bought some immune system boosting vitamins, and my daughter has been giving them to him every day for a week. Still, off an antibiotic for a week, and another infection hits. Ears, chest, throat, nose...

Today will be my first trip to the store for groceries. Looking forward to having a garden to harvest. The closest store is a Hel-Mart, and it is 25 minutes away. I am wishing we had a general store, like the one described a while back.

Last night was our first real night here. I'm not sure I can find words to describe this place, this night. I did not know what I was not experiencing in the city. I'm a little fearful because I am getting little tastes of what I was missing, and I have a sense that I'm only seeing the tip of the iceberg. Never, never had the clock/repeating numbers experiences others speak about. Have had three in the past 10 hours. Very rarely dreamed in the city, had two VIVID dreams that startled me and woke me up. Can't remember them at the moment, but I think I might be able to remember them later.

There is frost outside this morning. Real frost. Like every item outside had a dusting overnight. It has been so long since I saw such beauty. And I had forgotten what darkness is...true darkness. The kind of darkness that is a blanket over the physical world as if tucking it in for a long rest. But the stars....oh! The stars twinkle. And the moon-I saw it, and it had a halo! I stood outside, freezing my butt off, when it was pitch black-no glow from any cities in view, in the yard. The air was so pure and brisk my lungs did not recognize it, and the feel of the air was like cold velour, textured but soft and comforting, and quiet-not quiet, peace. Silence but for the animals in the distance.

Pila...please finish Your story, it IS important, so important, imho!

There are things in Your story that will help some People, immensely...it is key for some to hear it right now.

What is important is that many are getting 'nudges' to do things but are hesitant to take the step for fear of being ridiculed or fear of failure or fear that it is crazy because they have not stepped off the cliff, so to speak...when all they have to do is listen and go and the help and unfolding of their prompts will be there...and so the next step and the next step. Helping to upgrade the changes needed right now.

Aw, dear heart eaglespirit! Your efforts were noted, and I for one found your contribution there quite proud-making.
Those of us who are honest tend to live with the assumption that others are, too, and like to give the benefit of the doubt.
But those who live by the law of the jungle see nothing but enemies, liars and deceivers,
and maybe they think by needling and heckling they can extract whatever goodness might be there.
But perhaps not even that is their motive? Protective instinct? Vanity? I have no idea.
When a stranger appears with confidence and assumes that he will be accepted without reservation then the energies of this planet will respond in a predictable fashion. It is then up to each one to choose to run with those energies or resist their promptings. But such a choice is not always recognized as such.

Here and now...in my new sharing spot. Listening for sounds of whirring and buzzing and humming, like I used to hear in my old spot. I hear the air blowing through the floor vents. My laptop makes a whir. There is not one other sound I can detect. I went outside just now to check to see if the fresh world is still out there. Yes, it is. The stars are still in the sky. The don't twinkle, they flicker, much like lightning bugs in the summer when I was a child. I cannot believe how many stars there are...there are too many to count. I wonder...when did all these stars appear in the sky?

The air is so brisk, so clean.

This sounds cliche, and I wish I could describe this differently-with all my heart I do, but...a haze has been lifted in my world. I can see things, I can smell them, and my thoughts are more clear. I lived close to San Francisco for a few years, and I remember smog. I have been living under a smog for 8 years-probably more. The smog is gone. I am shocked and bewildered that something is present in the big city that is absent here. And I mean, really, truly, physically present. Like electronic static, and chemicals in the air, and whatever is manmade that clouds the mind and prevents sound sleep. Physical agents of unknown origins...really work.

It is a wonder that I was able to exist for so long in that fog. Spiritually, for lack of a better word, I am truly surprised I was able to focus on any one truth while peering through that dense blockage. I was dying. It is as if I am born this morning, a butterfly escaping the cocoon of metamorphosis...well, I don't suppose I am yet a butterfly...maybe I am just realizing that I will be a butterfly

Whilst reading this and all the other replies of yours Here and Now I was filled with such mirth that I decided to have a first class compartment made to be strapped to my back with reclining leather chair and even a hole in the armrest where you can place your drink. Windscreen wipers all around will ensure uninterrupted birdseye views.
This will make even the Pope jealous, I can guarantee.

Life is difficult for gentle souls...as you well know, sweet eaglespirit. Your rising frustration with that thread was palpable...I could almost hear the call from deep within you "Protect and defend". It's hard to watch a flower being trampled and struggling to rise again.

I wonder if this is an example of the "enabling" Modwiz was talking about earlier? What to do...defend and protect or help strengthen the flower. My first reaction was to defend, but felt the consequences (giving the trolls more ammunition to attack) were not worth it. On second thought, I offered a brief post hoping to encourage and strengthen Pila to help him go on through the muck. We won't always be there to defend and help him...he must learn to do that on his own. Perhaps the greatest kindness we can give him is the tools to stand on his own...similar to a baby first learning to walk, falling down is part of the process but made easier knowing there are people with arms encircling to prevent harm. We can help show him the way, but he must take those steps on his own.

This can be done in as many ways as we have Villagers. Just staring at his avatar while beaming the most slobbery, mushy and sentimental fluff at him will do.
Or you could do a Calz and use images....like pile on all sorts of pink and lilac colored gifts....anything that might be useful in challenging someone's frosty aloofness. So by the time he wakes up he will have the shock of his life....shhessh, I should have read his chart first to see if this is a good moment....oh dear, where is Aranuk when I need him?
