Just to say you guys are amazing. You never cease to amaze me. Totally awesome.

Within one hour of asking for help I got connected again.

After leaving my son's home drove into town to pay my annual car insurance policy, and right there received the call from my landlady
notifying me that they had come and fixed the line.
After she had been calling their office for three weeks to no avail....

chemistry and tolerance does play a part IMHO

I muscle tested this issue pour moi and I got told
repeatedly that a small amount agrees with my
particular make up . Maybe it's one thing my family
did right we always had a glass with our meal, I found
for me that it helped with digestion. The moderation
Idea of course being the key here, I know one glass only
would be tough for most . In Aus the whole binge drinking
falling over style is common place and so culturally
acceptable that it's entrenched as being totally fine.
It's a sad state of affairs .

together is more European than here where people

possible and falling down. It's pretty sad

Not every day. Some people find that shocking. It helps me start my day on a happy note.

After that no more for the rest of the day, unless there is a social dinner, in which case I might drink one glass of red wine, or a beer.
Moderation is key, indeed. Civilized drinking.

Day nine of my ten day fast. Still waiting for that burst of energy that usually appears before this. Rather, I have a deep serenity and peace unlike ever before...interesting.

So many losses. Such deep sharing. I feel a 'connectedness' to the people of the Village that does not exist irl. Perhaps it is because we all stand in our own power while sharing joys, loss, journeys, laughter...with love, understanding, acceptance and gratitude toward one another in response. Rare. Precious.

One Aspie to another; I don't believe this has anything to do with our condition. My topic was/is a button pusher and you had a button pushed. I cannot distinguish between your defensive behavior and anyone else's here, Aspie or not. I could speak about alcohol as a spirit that finds expression through the use of it, but that is another discussion that I do not wish to enjoin here. That spirit, like many, is very protective of its' turf. It speaks through people and for them.

Your point was not missed by all. I, too, can tell when someone on the forum uses it as an excuse to post an...should I say, unkind...statement or question about another's post. Some get belligerent. Some just outright attack. Either it is out of character for the person posting or they become "more" of the kind of person they already are. No matter, it is disruptive to the conversation, especially in the way it is presented.

Perhaps we need a "No Drinking While Posting" smilie.

Modwiz, I should have explained that my post was not written in response to your post.
Perhaps I should have clarified that I was only being self indulgent...(even without inebriation.)
The discussion on alcohol will continue for a few more decades to come.
Yes I did understand where you were coming from...your point was clear but there was really nothing that I could have added to it...So I just went on a self indulgent opinion spree on where I now stand with my own attitude on alcohol in general.

Now trying to figure where Astrid put "her foot in it"....I can't see it...
I think each one has arrived at wherever they are now via a their own rough road..
either as drinkers or as victims of drinkers...so just the mere word "alcohol" could bring up personal issues...
so please forgive me for indulging in stating where I have finally arrived.

I left the excess behind as well as teetotaling abstinence (19 years as a Bahai..not a drop) and I thought I had done well arriving at a happy medium, and wanted to share.
As far as drinking and Internet forum contributions go I have had a few close calls where someone got drunk and started to unload their anti-German s**t on me..and I didn't even realize they were drunk until others explained it to me.
