    from Beren:
God uses many sources to tell the truth. But when we are refusing one of the most prominent sources because of humans that abused it in the past or now, we are trying to limit God in his ways of expressing truths.

well said, imo -- i was raised w/o any religion -- my Grandmother gave me a Bible on my 12th birthday & told me to read a bit every night & i would feel better -- i loved her, & did that -- but every time i opened it, God was telling the Israelites to go wipe out some other tribe, or Jesus was yelling at the Pharisees -- so i stopped reading it

then in high school i was elected Student Council VP, one of whose jobs, back in the '60s, was to read something from the Bible at the beginning of every school assembly -- one morning while reading my selection, i heard a puzzling buzz from the students in the auditorium --afterwards, one of my teachers explained to me that the many Jewish kids in my classes did not go along w/the New Testament, & that in the future i might stick w/readings from the Old T

so my early experiences of the Bible were that it seemed to be about & to create a lot of discord & contention -- & as Frank S rightly points out, the words from the Bible have been used by those who call themselves believers in those words & in Christ, to do terrible things -- really terrible things-- to others , for centuries -- in the name of Jesus, as a cover for power moves or just plain sadism

it's because of my interest in Edgar Cayce in my 20s that i read the Bible through [took me nearly 3 years, as i thought about it while reading] -- there are many very beautiful & spiritually powerful passages in that book -- when the true God/Creator [imo] is speaking, the God who says He wants mercy, not sacrifice -- sometimes when reading it, it's like Light flashing out at me thru the words, both in the OT & the New T

but the real value of the Bible --again just in my opinionated opinion -- is the historical record of Jesus having lived & died & risen -- put in an historical context -- & the preservation of His teachings , even if incomplete & adulterated in some instances -- & w/o Christians & Christianity, as Beren says, we'd have no record or knowledge of Jesus Christ

honestly i would not be or call myself a Christian if i based this on reading the Bible alone, & certainly not from the actions of most of those who call themselves Christians [tho there have been some, thru the centuries, who have lived as He taught -- Corrie Ten Boom's sister Betsy is such a modern-day true saint, imo]

    http://www.allreaders.com/topics/info_11867.asp

& i sure don't think of myself as a saintly person , or qualified to tell others what to believe

it really is because of my meeting Christ Jesus face to face [sort of -- i have never felt worthy enough to ever raise my eyes to Him] that i am a Christian -- & i've had lots of other-dimensional experiences, & am maybe too suspicious re manipulation of my mind/senses -- but --i know i'm repeating myself -- never have i met any other individual being w/the Power, the Love, the Peace that i met in the Person of Christ Jesus -- nowhere near it -- not in this dimension, not in any other -& reading the Gospels helps me to keep the connection w/Him

& i'm not totally happy w/some of the things that Jesus did while on Earth -- like putting the demons into the poor pigs & killing the fig tree -- i know these recorded actions of his have contributed to humans thinking they can do whatever they want to Earth & the animals --someday i expect an explanation & maybe an apology

i think the main reason He came to Earth was to provide a safe way out of this dimension, away from a planet increasingly under the control of dark forces who want complete control of the souls caught here -- the other paths, like shamanism, or Buddhism, are helpful for living on this planet & dealing w/the dimensions closest to 3D Earth -- but these dimensions are very dangerous right now -- increasingly under the control of the NWO darkside

    hi beren

don't think one is thrashing the bible by exploring other texts/sources..

i think you addressed your own concerns by answering to frank's post....only, i still can't see why do you think the "many" are found on this forum?

    beren:

    best wishes l

Neither I said that one is trashing Bible by reading other sources. I said clearly that many are welcoming to other sources and willingly delve in them but from the moment someone mention Bible they trash it.

It`s just about this thing ; don`t embrace just one way of communicating with God and think that this is the only way that God talks with us...
I found many values in many texts and I love them dearly but I do not trash them.

But many here on the forum are quite ready to trash Bible without even thinking what they just wrote about it.

The thing is , everything that we use now as tool to know and reach God will vanish in the archive of history on the moment we know God personally. I mean this for whole humanity. Until we reach that stage together , tools will be available.
But it would be very unwise to diminish one of the most precious one - Bible.

    hi again beren,

in response to your 1st and the 3rd line i highlighted:

you are adamant that many on the forum either trash or are ready, like you say, to thrash bible..you really would have to give me an examples because i don't find what you do at all, at all at all...if you are speaking in broad terms and if you are basing it on your impresssions only, than this may have to do with your preconceptions actually...because you ARE coming up with a very stark judgment... i personally believe that an avarage member would know/know of the bible texts for a lot longer and in more detail than any other new text - therefore a natural human quriosity and a desire for knowledge from new sources has to be satisfied...i don't find that desire strange or dismissive of the bible texts...

in respose to your 2nd line i highlighted:

you are putting yourself in comparison with the "many" we already know you don't hold in high esteem...why are you doing it?

    Hi light blue,

I am writing fairly open. And do not wish to explain further because I am explaining a lot in open.
Examples are everywhere in so many threads here and on old Avalon.
I am not judging anyone nor I will. My attitude is strong for sake of being fair because always whenever somehow by any chance or miracle or deliberate desire or thunder strike ,someone mention Bible or anything connected to it, people immediately stand against. And that`s ok . But then how can we lead normal discussion about many things here when we erase certain thing right from the start and stray in religious debates?

I noticed that whenever I mention Jesus or Bible or God there has to be someone who brand me as promoter of some religion or whatever. Or Bible nut or Bible thumper or whatever...
Even that is ok . Everyone has free will to do whatever they want. And I am using my free will to say things that I know of ,things that are not theory or wishful thinking.

I always point out that truth written in Bible has been hijacked by dark ones ( whom ever they may be -spirits or men) and they enjoy twisting it. Many loose opportunity to learn and remember things about God when dismissing Bible. And I understand that . Many did evils in God`s name and Bible`s name. But for the sake of fairness do give a chance Bible to say what it has to say.

I also found many truths in various texts, philosophers, wonderful people and places , I came to realize that God choses all ways to talk with people to eventually raise their vibration to his level.

    P.S.
There is no one on this forum that I think of them poorly. I value every single comment on the forum and deem that they come from people who wish to know truth. Every soul here came to learn and remember. All are very precious and who am I to judge someone?
And I like your avatar :-) Be blesses!

hi again and thanks for your clarification..you say though:

Quote I always point out that truth written in Bible has been hijacked by dark ones ( whom ever they may be -spirits or men) and they enjoy twisting it. Many loose opportunity to learn and remember things about God when dismissing Bible. And I understand that . Many did evils in God`s name and Bible`s name. But for the sake of fairness do give a chance Bible to say what it has to say.
in my opinion, the bible has a lot of problems with convaying the truth in the way one wants to call truth truth.. i have a huge problem with the acuracy of translation and this is where i would start when talking about truth hijacking and twisting - lots of crucial texts are translated most liberally from arameic to greek, then from greek on to latin and on to every other language..

i'll just give you one example; the chances are and i do believe that jesus never meant to say "My God, My God, Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me" -which is according to the greek loose translation...instead the arameic original went: "Eli, Eli lemana shabakthan! which translates :My God, my God, for this I was spared! . Obviously the inspired translator at the time was simply compelled to add his own very free understanding of what was said in arameic and lo and behold - the famous sentence becomes something totally different in meaning...those are the traps i am constantly aware of and most strongly wish to avoid..

lots has been written about this line alone, but here is this concise summary

Hi Dan -- my inner voice is not guiding me to watch this video -- my question still stands -- you wrote a few posts ago, to Frank:

trying to 'open ears and eyes' to some truthful facts.
Maybe some souls are more inclined to listen and be convinced

so i was just wondering if maybe you could summarize the truthful facts , the ones you'd like people to become convinced of -- so far you have been pretty vague

    .
Hi Lightblue -- i've been thinking about this -- i will answer w/one experience i had -- but first what i've been thinking is along the lines of one of my favorite quotes

'God is a circle whose center is everywhere & whose circumference is nowhere'

even if/when i tell you what happened, it still happened to just one tiny little center [me] -- a very big event to this center, but maybe just words to others of the infinite number of centers

anyway -- here's one story -- i'm an alcoholic, recovering now & grateful for my sobriety

after my son died in '87 i started drinking heavily -- even tho he visited me 2x after he died, & i know death of the body is not the end -- but that's an alcoholic for you! any reason to drink -- & i got a lot of sympathy, people cutting me slack for my drinking because i'd lost my son

you asked where & when -- it was in '91 , in West Chester PA -- by this time i was at a point where i drank every day -- there are probably other alcoholics on PA who will understand when i say that i'd reached the point at which alcohol had completely taken over my will -- this may sound like moral weakness to a non-alcoholic, but other alcoholics will know what i'm talking about -- i'd gone on binges in the past, before i had children, but could always stop - w/difficulty, but i could & did -- & i believe i can honestly say that alcohol is the only anything i've encountered that ever bested my will

this time i could not -- one day i was at a park w/some friends -- i was lying in the grass & a prayer came from deep within me, one i really meant: 'God, either take away this compulsion to drink, or let me die'

the next morning i woke up early [unusually -- other alcoholics know about wasting the day in bed w/hangovers] -- at dawn -- i heard a robin singing -- & there was Someone in the room, standing by the side of my bed -- i did not look right at Him, but i knew He was wearing a robe of some sort, & i knew immediately that he was Jesus -- He spoke & said, 'Go get help' -- i could tell He was not happy w/me at all, but He was not speaking in a judging way -- there was Light around Him --He was bigger than life-size somehow -- He emanated Power, & it was His Power that i kind of drew on/held on to that day -- i did not drink the beer in my apt, & called a counselor i'd been seeing until she offended me by telling me i was an alcoholic -- she got me into a rehab -- i'd been there a few days when the alcohol fumes finally left my brain, & i realized that the compulsion to drink was completely gone

years later i see His wisdom in ordering me to 'Go get help' instead of just flat-out taking the compulsion to drink away -- like just about all of us in human bodies, i need lessons re interacting w/others in positive ways --

also -- like many others here on PA, too, i'm sure -- i am not very good at taking orders from others -- i generally equate obedience w/servitude & slavery -- & tend to have run-ins w/bosses who abuse their authority , & have quit some jobs because of this -- also i had a real problem w/getting down on my knees to a guru my friends insisted i go to [i popped my head up after bowing to her & said 'Hi!'] -- but there was no question, seeing Him & hearing Him, but that i would obey

that's one story -- hope it made sense -- & hope i conveyed something of the Power of His Presence -- His Love i felt more strongly the other times -- but this time i needed more of the Power, i guess , for protection as well -- till i got into the rehab, my drinking buddies, including the current boyfriend, did not want to let me go --

Just read your post very moving indeed , thank you for sharing. Jesus is a very powerful presence in the lives of many even the native Indians experience the presence of Jesus. So you see we do have a lot in common even when it seems we do not.
Again thank you very much for pouring your soul, your courage and honesty is very moving.

    Many many blessings to you.

    Dear Wynderer
Thank you for your moving post.
I too hit rock bottom through the illness of alcholism
Could I sugest that you read through "The ego what is it? how to transcend it"
There is much in there that is in line with your thoughts on God.

Default Re: Spiritual encounters of all kind - war for souls

Moemers, i hear you, and no question is ridiculous, that is how we all learn. Sometimes thing seem overwhelming. I do not let myself get caught up it it. I have learned to take things as they come. Meditation helps me greatly, it is part of my daily routine, it helps me stay connected with myself and with Spirit.
